Welcome to Pokemon Cupboard, a world for fans of all things Pokemon!

This is a world where I’ll be posting various things about the Pokemon franchise. Here I plan to talk about some of my favorite Pokemon, favorite locations in the games, perhaps reminisce about playing the games or my favorite episodes of the anime, and maybe much more.

About Me

I got into Pokemon during the mid to late nineties. At first didn’t want anything to do with Pokemon. Back then it was part of my nature to rebel against all things popular. But my opinion about Pokemon changed significantly after seeing the first four or five episodes of the anime. I got into the series and soon wanted to play the games. That Christmas I believe I had received a Gamboy Color and the Blue version of the Pokemon game.

Eventually I also played the Red and Yellow versions, mostly to see how they differed from Blue. I played the games that followed up until Ruby and Sapphire. At that point the anime had started to go downhill. I really didn’t like it when they replaced Misty with that girl May and her annoying little brother Max (god how I loath him). The games started to lose their appeal too. I didn’t like how Ruby and Sapphire didn’t have a lot of the Pokemon from previous games. Of course at the time I didn’t realize that they were going to do remakes of the first generation games.

Still, by that point I was no longer as into Pokemon as I once was. My focus had turned more to Yu-Gi-Oh! and other things. But I still keep tabs on the Pokemon franchise. I think that the anime is a lost cause, but I have read about the newer games, some of which actually look pretty good. I’m also currently working on a Pokemon Fan Fiction project. So in short I’m basically an old-school Pokemon fan.

Guest Posters

My interest in Pokemon ebbs every now and then. So to make things more fun and keep this world alive, I’m going to allow other Pokemon fans here on TheO to post things here. So like me you could post things about your favorite Pokemon or talk about your favorite anime episodes. But you can do so much more too.

  • If you play the games, you could use this world as sort of a journal and share your adventure with everyone. It doesn’t have to be the mainstream Pokemon games either; it could be Pokemon Conquest or one of the consol games.
  • Another use for this world could be to post Pokemon fanfics you may have created. Or perhaps share the profiles of your Pokemon OCs (if you have any).
  • Maybe you have some big Pokemon related art project you want to share. You could use this world to chronicle its creation.

You could do all that and much, much more. As long as it has to do with Pokemon, the sky’s the limit. So if you’re interested in becoming a guest poster, or maybe just have a few questions, please contact me via comment or PM and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Pokemon Bird Watch: Xatu

So last Saturday I went out to lunch with my aunt, after which we went to the nearby nature reserve to see the geese, eagles, ducks, and pelicans that were passing through on the path of their migration. It was quite the sight seeing all those bi...

Status & Coming Features

Seems like this world has become a little inactive recently. I know it's at least been a few weeks since my last post. Things have just been in sort of a lull lately, news wise. And I haven't really felt like doing any weekly posts since Legendary Pokemon of the Week came to its temporary end. So I think it's time for me to try and pump some new life into this world.

The Interesting Specimen and Character Salute posts will probably be a little more intermittent for awhile at least. But they will be continuing. But I'm also going to try and start up some new features. One new series of posts I plan to start soon is going to be called Pokemon Bird Watch. As the name suggests, it's going to be a series of posts that talks about the various Bird Pokemon that have appeared throughout the games. I'll probably do a similar series of posts on Pokemon normally found in the games by fishing (I just need to come up with a title for the series).

Some other features I have in mind is some sort of series that covers the various Fighting-type Pokemon out there. Though that may just be a week-long series. I'm also considering week-long events for posts covering Bug and Electric Pokemon. And I have an idea for some sort of event that deals with Pokemon that have branched evolution lines. So in closing, this world's not dead yet.

P.S.~To anyone that might be interested, I can always use more guest posters for this world. So if anyone is interested in becoming a guest poster, please let me know by either leaving a comment on this post or sending me a PM. Just throwing that out there.

Get ready for Sunday~ (3/24/13)

So in case you guys didn't know, there is a new 3DS XL coming out tomorrow. It's this thing right here~

External Image

That's right! The limited edition Pikachu 3S XL. Time for the product details~

Looks and Extra

This bold yellow Nintendo 3DS XL hardware features a familiar outline of the iconic Pokémon. The system also comes packaged with a 4GB SD memory card and will be available while supplies last.

Extra Large 3D Screen
The top screen of the Nintendo 3DS XL system are 90% larger than that of the original Nintendo 3DS, at 4.88 inches. It's the largest screen on a Nintendo handheld to date! The lower screen is also getting a bump up from 3 inches to 4.18 inches.

Longer Battery Life
Get your game on for even longer! The Nintendo 3DS XL comes with an estimated 6.5 hours of battery life - a noticeable increase from the 3.5 hours on the original Nintendo 3DS.

Larger SD Card
Now you can store even more of your favorite downloadable games from the Nintendo eShop on a larger 4GB SD card! This is double the storage space from the Nintendo 3DS - which means double the fun!

Alright! So the key features are:
90% Larger Screen: 4.88-inch stereoscopic screen, compared with a 3.53-inch screen in the current model - nearly double the size
The lower touch-panel screen will also get a bump to 4.18 inches from 3 inches.
Longer battery life: Outperforms the original Nintendo 3DS. Estimated battery life is 3.5 to 6.5 hours
Bundled with a 4 GB SD card, which is great for downloading content from the Nintendo eShop
AC adapter (no charging cradle)

This product literally had only a handful made and most likely is a once in a lifetime make. Starting tomorrow Gamestop and such will be putting these up for grabs. The Base price is $200(USD). So you best be quick on buying because these are going to be selling pretty fast. *Already has one being held for himMainly because I'm a regular and I know everyone at my local Gamestops~*

Sightings
This 3DS XL was actually spotted in the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates To Infinity commercial where one of the two actors was holding the Yellow XL. Here's the commercial.

That's all I have for now. ^^ I wish you good luck in getting the 3DS while it lasts. :3
