"Most people would sooner die than think; in fact, they do so." Bertrand Russell

Now, please allow me to throw some "facts" at you; you then can abstract an idea from this. How do you create me, as I shall create you?

My Top Three Favorite Anime:

  • (1) Neon Genesis Evangelion 新世紀エヴァンゲリオン
  • (2) Ghost In The Shell 攻殻機動隊
  • (3) Ergo Proxy エルゴプラクシー

My Favorite Book:

  • Beyond Good and Evil: Prelude to a Philosophy of the Future by Friedrich Nietzsche

My Influences:

  • Yoshiyuki Sadamoto 貞本義行 (Artist)
  • Hello Kitty ハローキティ (Neko, Kawaii, Deity)

      My Name:

      • Shane

      My Location:

      • Alberta, Canada (I'm tempted to write "Downtown Canada", but that stately title goes to Toronto. As an Albertan I guess I'm entitled to like pickup trucks, dogs, rodeos, and beef -- it's no wonder my best friends are my books, CDs, and DVDs.)

"I Want to Believe"

Some of you may recognize a certain creation from this artist. Which artist? I speak of none other than Cai Guo-Qiang.

Have a look at his art, and then think of art. Is it something which refers to "paintings" and "sculptures" only? Is all art something which can be bought? (The idea , however, of someone purchasing Claes Oldenburg's Placid Civic Monument is amusing.) I may do more of these, so be prepared for some odd, yet thought-provoking stuff.

I leave you with one of Cai Guo-Qiang's creations and a link.

Borrowing Your Enemy's Arrows

It Looks Good, and That is Enough

I hate free software. Let me restate that: I hate free trial software. Especially the trial versions that most of us are drawn to, like zombies to brains.

Please, admire this short paragraph from one free software site:

"The Demo version of the program will show you the list of all files recovered from the RAR or SFX archive, but these recovered files will not be stored on your hard drive. To save the recovered files, you must purchase the full version of this software." [my emph.]

My response:

'Thank you for recovering my damaged files and then allowing me the viewing pleasure of seeing those recovered files! I don't need them, I just wanted to see them in their fixed state--you know, to see them happy and whole once more. However, in the event that I would like to fix my broken file, I would gladly pay the incredibly inflated price. Do you accept a pound of flesh? Thank you.'

"May I Take a Message?"

It's slightly after midnight and here I type, just before I log out for the day (which is a new day, by the way). I was in chat, yet I was doing anything but chatting. Kind of defeats the purpose of chat, am I right? I almost feel like a front desk receptionist when I jump into the chatroom lobby. I end up having 4+ tabs open, and I'm flipping between all of them. At times, I accidentally close the wrong tab and disconnect myself (a perfect example of why I would fail at front-desk or anything computer related. Would you want me to handle the launch codes for the nuclear arsenal?).

To make things more fun, I had WordPad open while I had my browser open. Taking notes and chatting doesn't go too smoothly alongside one another, to say the least. If I remember correctly, one of my thinking-out-loud sentences made it into chat, rather than in my notes in Word. It's such fun to watch a confusing sentence slowly scroll up the screen--like it was being deliberately pushed out of view, for the sake of clear speech! (If that's possible in chat.) Eh, I'll balance it all sometime and eventually become comfortable in chat. For now, I'll continue to be the wallflower reading the book, sorting files, and closing the wrong tabs.

Night, All!

Because Titles are required

Hey, doesn't deviantART sell artworks?

Also, I enjoy seeing dA watermarks on fan art submitted to this site. I also enjoy observing the sun with binoculars.

Blissed

I've always been tempted to write a fanfic, but I'm not sure of how I would approach it. Of course, I'd like to write it in the style of "indirect communication" (sneak in some serious-thought disguised as fanfic). But I get the feeling that it would be passed over in favor of the newest Naruto fanfic or Naruto fanart or Naruto wallpaper or--you get the picture.

So, rather than write something which includes a character pondering his superfluous existence to all eternity, I'd much rather be popular and write something like this: Smiley the Bunny by Earl Vickers.

Maybe I should include accompanying fanart for my hypothetical fanfic to seal the deal.

So, how's chat going?
