Tokyo Ghoul

Strange murders are happening in Tokyo. Due to liquid evidence at the scene, the police conclude the attacks are the results of 'eater' type ghouls. College buddies Kaneki and Hide come up with the idea that ghouls are imitating humans so that's why they haven't ever seen one. Little did they know that their theory may very well become reality.

When Kaneki is almost killed in an attack, he transforms into a half-ghoul, half-human hybrid and is forced to adapt to their lifestyle in order to survive.

The latest "recommendation" I made was Shingeki no Kyojin, if I remember correctly... Which means that it was more than a year ago. I'll be honest, I haven't watched a lot of stuff since SNK... until August this year, that is. I caught up on many things, watched new stuff, but I believe Tokyo Ghoul really is the one that I enjoyed the most (and some few others that I'll try to talk about next time).

Manga: If I had to compare Kaneki to another hero, it would be Shinji Ikari, let's be real here. The boy struggles a lot with what he has to do but refuses to do (*coughs* piloting an eva) until at least chapter 60; considering that the manga has 143 chapters, it means that he struggles with this during basically the first half of the manga.

I don't have much to say because: I don't want to spoil anything and several of you watched it or read it. But the style is really nice, it reminded me of Blame!, Deadman Wonderland and even Dogs: Bullets & Carnage sometimes, the characters are all very interesting and the story itself is good. Negative point? It doesn't end, or better say that the last chapter leaves us on many questions. The mangaka will have a new manga soon though, so maybe it's not over yet, we just don't know. BUT, even after reading the last chapter, I didn't regret it at all and I'm even going to buy it anyway. 9/10.

Anime: If I had to describe the anime adaptation in two words, it would be probably terrible censoring. The animation itself is good, especially on the first and last episode (to me) but the censoring... well... it sometimes cover the entire screen in black or white to hide what is happening. It can become a turn off at some point. Then it's really rushed compared to the manga (12 episodes for 60+ chapters...) but I don't think it's that noticeable when you haven't read the manga so I'm guessing that it would be better to watch the anime and then start the manga? The anime is still a good 7/10 in my opinion.

That's all I have to say without being too spoilerish!
