Kanto has changed quiet a bit. It's harder to become a trainer but tradition still pushes forwards. I am about to journey out into the world and the adventure of a life time is about to happen. The concept of an undersoul will then make sense.

For those thinking of applying: This RP is meant for Arctic Summer, Amestar, and Lunesoldier20.

The doors open and we all rushed out. I think I might've tripped over several times just trying to get out the door. However, I soon found myself just running about.

Where can I find a Growlithe? I wonder to myself. Didn't Officer Jenny say that they were normally found along Routes near Saffron? What was in between there? Grasslands! I smacked myself in the forehead. Of course! I turned towards the west and entered the tall grass. I swear, it was taller than me!

"Here, Growlie, Growlie, Growlie!" I whispered outloud, snapping my fingers. Officer Jenny always did this to attract her pooch, so what wasn't to say it wouldn't work for me? Yeah, those dogs are trained, but aren't these Growlithe also trained? They were bred afterall just for being a trainer's partner.

Ahead of me, I saw the grass shiver. I grinned. "Here, Growlie, Growlie, Grow- THAT ISN'T A GROWLITHE!!" A somewhat disoreinted Sandshrew glanced up at me, blinked, and then turned around, disappearing into the grass.

Well, that is just lovely, I thought to myself. I continued picking my way through the grass; my feet occasionally catching on the roots. One time, my foot unexpectedly hit a boulder and I went down like the first S.S. Anne. I pushed myself up and looked back at what I fell over, and my eyes widened. "Oh, crap!"

The Zangoose just gave me the evil eye before I was off to the races. I don't know how many times I stumbled over the dang grass or outright feel down. The only thing I became aware of was when I hit water. It wasn't deep, but I still had to sloosh my way through the water to keep myself going.

"Shrew!" My eyes turned towards the noise. On the far end of the shore and up on a little hill, a Sandshrew waved to me. Not really having much of a choice and without completely thinking it through, I headed to the shrew Pokemon. I could hear the hissing of the Zangoose behind me. I made it to the shore and began climbing up the hill, when I could hear the low growl of the angry Pokemon right below me. My heart sank.

"Shrew!" The little Pokemon picked up some dirt and climbed onto my back before throwing the dirt into the Zangoose's eye. It hissed and I booked it up the hill with the Sandshrew in my arms. We got a short distance before I decided to sit down. Sandsrew jumped out of my hands and I sat down, placing my backpack down. I sighed and lay down.

"At this rate, I'm not going to get that Growlithe today." At that moment, I heard the rustling in my backpack. I sat up quickly. "What-?" The little Pokemon crawled out of my backpack, holding the Pokeball. My mouth dropped. "No, don't-!"

Too late. The Pokemon hit the ball to its head and in a red lightshow, the Sandshrew disappeared into the ball. After it shook three times and the sealing ding rung, my mouth could probably fit an entire dish saucer.

Wow, sorry it took so long to get this up. Well, we should start making second characters to act as side characters, rivals, friends, family, ect.

First Ever Catch!

Finally! I thought as I was crouching in some tall grass, I have my first ever pokeball!

I could hardly imagine it. I could hear other trainers scurrying in every direction to catch their first glimpse of what could be their partner. Walking through the grass clutching my pokeball was an interesting experience, this is when all my readings and learning come into play. Pikachus are usually in tall grass...and Vulpix are usually in caves...

I heard a rustling up ahead. I halted, and sucked in my breath. I crouched down and peered through the grass. I saw a group of Jigglypuffs sleeping in a cluster. "Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!" I shrieked. Then I covered my mouth. Ooops.

They all woke up, and looked around. I heard stories about these guys. They sing to you and get mad when you fall asleep. Don't want my first pokemon getting mad at me. I slowly got up and crept away. After walking for a few minutes I saw a beautiful glimmering lake. Awww marvelous. There are sure to be pokemon getting their water from here! I glanced around and saw many types of pokemon. Hmmmm......

I looked around again, and noticed some trainers watching afar as I was doing now. They just stood there, however. God I'm never going to get a pokemon just standing here! I crept quietly over to the lake. It was a rocky path, deserted of pokemon. The plan was to get to the lake, and walk along the shore, checking out the peaceful pokemon life.

Then I saw it. There was a pokemon drowning in the lake! It was splashing around so ferociously that you couldn't tell what it was. I dropped my pokeball started to panic. I dropped my pack. Someone has to save it! I took my shoes off. Time to dive. I jumped into the lake. It felt slightly warm. I swam as fast as I could. I started to go down in a swarm of bubbles. No no no no!!!

I made a grab for it and raised it over my head. I swam back to shore. I put the little guy down and ran to my pack and dug out a jacket. I wrapped the pokemon in it. It coughed up a little water, then rubbed it's eyes with yellow hands. Omg it can't be... Yellow pointed ears dipped with black sprang up from the jacket. 2 red dots where on it's face.

A pikachu. A PIKACHU. I almost shrieked again. Where's my pokeball?!!? I looked around for it. I saw it rolled away into a bush. I went and grabbed it. Haha! There we go! I went up to the pikachu, and lightly tapped it's head with the pokeball. Score!!!!

I ran back as fast as I could to the gate we entered from. Most of the people where back by now, clutching their pokeballs to their chest or holding it excitedly. A suited man went on a raised platform.

"Congratulations new trainers!" he exclaimed, "you have all caught your first pokemon. To open your pokeball just click the middle circle." He went on explaining the rules of being a pokemon trainer, like the 8 badges, contests, and evil trainers.

Arena Catching

~Raynard

I clutched the glimmering new pokeball in my hand. This is where my new partner will rest for now on.

“(This is it.)” I told myself.

The doors opened and light flashed in, the whole group ran out. This Arena looked just like a Pokémon safari. Tall grass, many trees scattered around, ruin-like structures, and up ahead: woods. This is great, all the people ran in different directions to find their partner.

Tall grass, was my first thought. But I wanted to go farther beyond. Who knows? Maybe the strongest Pokémon linger out in the back.

As farther I progressed I found more ruins, more than when I first entered the arena. There’s practically nobody here though. The ruins had a couple small entrances that you could walk through.

Trying to make an educated guess where the stronger Pokémon will be, I chose the ruin caves.

As I made way though the tight passage that was scraping my skin, I knew that I would be in trouble, I mean, its dark… But I feel pretty good with the kinds of Pokémon I might find, if any… I snatched my mini flashlight that my sister gave me a long time ago, unfortunately the batteries where weak. Still a faint light shined, this will have to do for now.

The passage gradually got wider in width and height; I could easily stretch and not even touch the ceiling. Darkness still lingered. Then a question came up to me, what happens if this flashlight died off? I can’t lose this opportunity though! I excelled forward, like the dumb boy I am in risk of a possible danger however, full of faith.

A couple of minutes I see an eerie purple light looming right of the curved pathway. Geez, this atmosphere had the appearance of a horror movie. Suddenly I hear some murmur and afterwards… A wild Pokémon appears!

“What kind of Pokémon is this…? I’ve never seen this before in Kanto…” I whispered, trying to not get its attention.

The Pokémon was like in the shape of a small candle. The purple light was from the irregular-colored flame burning passionately on its top. The Pokémon appeared to be resting by the side of a rock. It looked pretty adorable.

“(Catch it!)” Was my natural response. But something so small…?

I was skeptical but I realized that every Pokémon had their pros and cons, so it wouldn’t be worth criticizing the size. Anyways it would be a nice experience to watch my Pokémon grow up and evolve. This could make a great first Pokémon! But firstly, I needed to catch it…

Right on time the Pokémon woken up, it’s movements steady. It gained notice of me soon after, this was my time to shine.

I snatched the Pokeball out of my bag; just in a matter of seconds I tossed the ball out in the open at the Pokémon. The Pokémon made a slight whimper as the ball hit it for a capture. The matter of the Pokémon turned red and was sucked into the ball; it fell on the ground, shaking a couple of turns as my eyes where profoundly fixed on that Pokeball. Soon the shaking subsided, I squealed, that’s the sign I have been watching for!

“Yes!” I happily called out.

I caught my first Pokémon!
