*~Nyarth~*
I wish I would have known what I was getting into!! I didn’t imagine training would be all fun and games, but I certainly didn’t expect it to be this physically taxing. The combination of strenuous training and minimized sleeping hours would soon turn me into a little irritated ball of fury and pessimism. During the evening, I would go outside and train with Krory, she had me working on my speed (which I was really lacking in) and practicing my Fury Swipes and Slash. Slowly the ferocity of my physical attacks began to get stronger!
With Xio, training was completely serious – and a little dangerous – business. I would mostly spar with him, practicing a new move I had been getting a hang of: Iron Tail. Since my feline tail was so long and wiry, it was easy to swing it around and connect with someone for an attack.
Xio also started conditioning me to different attacks, building up my defense and special defense. He would have me stand there in a defensive position, feet planted on the ground, while he would aim several attacks at me. My goal was to make sure that I wasn’t moved at all. If my foot so much as moved an inch on the dirt, he would force me to sprint a lap around the mansion. I suffered many scratches, bruises, and an occasional blow to the stomach in these training rounds.
Sure, I hated the Luxray’s training sessions, but with the vigorous training he put me though, my condition improved rapidly. I was now able to climb one of the tallest trees near the mansion in less than a minute. My light frame made it easy to get to the higher, thinner branches that would break if anyone else climbed them. While my Thunder attack used to completely tire me out, now I could do three or four in a single spar session before tiring. My aim with Pay Day improved as well.
My improvements were evident on my body, as well! I could start to see slight muscle definition on my stomach (Xio said they were called abdominal muscles) and I started to get more lean and wiry, skin still smooth but now tougher, able to withstand more attacks. I was nowhere near how ripped Xio, Ross, Patrick, or the older gijinkas were, but I definitely was a whole lot stronger than I used to be. And it boosted my confidence!
It was so frustrating that I couldn’t eat anything I wanted anymore. Krory made sure that I had salads or light sandwiches for lunch, or one packet of ramen. Sneari even started making her smoothies for some of the gijinkas for lunch… She was so sweet about it; I don’t think anyone had the heart to tell her that they really tasted disgusting… More than once I found myself hastily slurping them down and telling Sneari “thank you” before my stomach realized that it wanted to throw it up!
At least I still had my sweets! That little stash in the bottom of my closet always seemed to have a golden beam of light shining down on it each time I snuck up there for a well-deserved treat. It was widely popular with the other gijinkas, as well. Nearly five times each day, one of my friends or acquaintances would seek me out looking for a candy bar. Since almost everyone knew of this secret business, I got to meet a lot of different gijinkas, including an insanely tall Metagross named Ross, and another Zangoose.
I was walking down the hall one day, heading toward the kitchen to make myself some ramen, when Maria approached me, looking kind of meek. Even though she was four years older than I was, lately I had been growing a lot in a growth spurt, and I was already an inch taller than her!
“Nyarth?” She asked, fiddling with her fingers and looking up at me with her large, dark eyes.
“Hi Maria!” I smiled.
She bit her lip a little. “I-I, um…”
“What is it, nya?” I asked, tilting my head a little. I bet she wants some candy, I thought.
“C-Can I have, a piece of chocolate?”
I beamed when she finally asked. “Wait here!” I bounded back the way I came, up to my room and picked some selections for her. She chose a Reeses’ Crispy Crunch Bar and giggled.
“I think this no-candy rule is completely irrational-nya. Don’t our bodies need some sugar?”
“I’m not sure, but that’s probably right. I was just thinking…I’m being a bad girl aren’t I?” She laughed and took another bite of the candy.
I blinked, not prepared for that question. “You aren’t bad Maria-nya!”
“Thank you Nyarth. That means a lot.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, I sometimes need to hear that, it makes me happy. Thank you so much Nyarth. If you need anything, you know I’m here, ok?” She smiled.
“Okay, thanks Maria! I will!” I chirped, and she walked off.
*~A couple of weeks later~*
I stood outside in the few inches of snow that covered the frozen ground, waiting for my trainer to show. Today, it wasn’t snowing, and the wind had died down significantly, but it was still below 30 degrees. I shivered underneath my thick winter sweater and rubbed my hands briskly together to try and warm up. The back doors to the mansion swung wide and Krory walked out, clothed in boots, jeans, and a long trenchcoat.
“I'm ready for today's training Krory!! I've been practicing the speed of my Fury Swipes, wanna see?? They're really fast-nya!” I began jumping up and down to warm up to the cold.
Krory nodded, saying “Aye, show me what yoos got!!”
Jumping up onto the branches of a nearby tree, I lengthened my claws for Slash and sliced one of the thicker branches off. When I dropped to the ground next to it, I saw that it was about the thickness of my shin.
“I can split this up into chunks really fast!” I took a deep breath and let it out slowly, then quickly sliced my hands up and down the log. While I was doing this, I was also jumping in a circle around the branch, so that I was kept on my toes and had to switch the orientation of my claws.
Krory clapped. “Aye aye! Naw bad! Pretty ripper, Nyarth!”
I beamed at the praise, and dusted my hands off. The branch was now cleanly cut into many roughly equal pieces. “Wasn't it??” Blowing off my claws they turned back to normal. “Thanks to your training, my speed has improved so much-nya!!”
“Now try cuttin' these fair dinkum quickly, alright darlin’?” She tossed another huge branch my way. I was momentarily stunned, but quickly used Slash to carve it in half before it hit me in the chest.
“Woah!” I elongated my claws and used each claw to cut a piece of the branch. Thinking quickly, I lifted up the pieces and flung them like Frisbees toward Krory. “SURPRISE ATTACK-NYAAAAAA!!!!!” I yelled.
Sadly, Krory simply raised a hand and used Protect. “Naw bad bloke, but yoos gotta be swiffer. However, yoos are bloody impressive! I'm fair dinkum proud of yoos!” She smiled.
I was really excited and confident now. I jumped over to her. “Is there anything you can teach me? Like a new move?? I really want to learn something new!!” My eyes lit up with inspiration. “Like.... Hyper Beam!!! Or Draco Meteor!! Or... Hydro Pump!!!” I beamed, imagining myself blasting the bad guys away with a huge blast of power.
She rubbed her chin and walked by with a chuckle. “Yoos can't learn those moves darlin'. Hydro Pump?” She paused and frowned. “I thought yoos were afraid of water.... Are there any moves you are working on trying ta master as we speak?”
My ears drooped. “I can't-nya? Oh man.... well I am trying to perfect my Iron Tail, and I've seen Shupple do Shadow Ball and I wanted to try and learn it! Isn't it really powerful?”
“It is powerful.... it could be of use ta yoos I suppose, though at your state I don't reckon yoos are capable of it since yoos lack combat ability.”
I still wanted to try, however. I planted my feet, inhaled deeply and held it, and concentrated really hard. “SHADOW BALL!!” Between my hands, only a puff of dark gray air appeared and it sounded like a fart. Krory dropped her crossed arms with a surprised expression.
“Did...did yoos just pass gas??” She asked with her mouth agape.
“N-no nya!! That was my Shadow Ball!! ....or what I was trying to make a Shadow Ball....” I was blushing, but I huffed and tried again. This time I doubled over like I was holding something close to my stomach. Krory sat on a nearby stump, watching. Maybe if I just imagine myself doing it, it'll work…
I yelled out again. “Shadow Ball!!” I thrust my arms out, but nothing happened. This was starting to frustrate me. I tried again and again, and it just wasn’t happening. Until this happened.
Krory’s eyes widened and she pointed. “YOOS BLOODY GOT IT!!! Yoos learned a new move!!!”
“I did it?? I did Shadow Ball??!”
Krory laughed. “Nah, sorry I'm goin' ta be completely fair dinkum with yoos, darlin’. Nah sugar coating it, yoos can't perform a Shadow Ball!”
I noticed a blast mark on a tree, however. I pointed at it. “If I can't..... then what is that over there?? I definitely did something to that tree!!”
“Aye! Yoos learned Frustration!!!” Beaming, Krory laughed and fell off the stump. “Opps! HAHAHAHAHA!” She kept laughing so hard that her tail slammed against the ground.
“What-nya??” I blinked, surprised. “I wasn't even trying to learn that!! But I just felt so aggravated that I couldn't do Shadow Ball... something just came out.” I scratched my head. “Lemme try that again!”
Krory was now composed and sat back on the stump. “Aye!”
I focused on my discouragement and annoyance and cried out. “Frustration!!” Opening my eyes, I was holding a glowing gray ball in my hands. It looked like dark storm clouds swirling around.
“Now fire it.” Suddenly sharpened stones hovered around Krory and started flying toward me. Stone Edge.
I smirked and flung the ball of Frustration at her, and started running toward her while using Iron Tail to slice a few stones hurling at me.
Krory suddenly whipped up a Sandstorm. “Oie! Naw bad!”
The sandstorm buffeted me, and I coughed into my sleeve. I have to do something about this sand!!! I thought, but I couldn’t imagine anything I could do. I didn’t have any moves that would dispel it. I felt myself being lifted in the air by the arms.
“Got yoos!” The sandstorm subsided. “Gettin' bloody crafty darlin’.”
I smirked. “Aha!!” I quickly activated Iron Tail and whacked Krory in the stomach with it. She dropped me and hunched over.
“Why yoos lil’…..” Then she fell over on the ground and just… laid there. I rushed over, trying to catch my breath and cough out some sand.
“Are you….. you okay-nya?” I huffed.
Oh no. I let my guard down. Krory looked up at me with a sinister smile, and flicked my nose. “Ouch!” I rubbed my nose.
She stood and brushed her pants off. “Yoos has improved Nyarth, but due ta lack of experience, yoos can't learn that move.... but I got somethin' else in mind!” She smiled at me.
“Okay!! What are you thinking??”
“Your claws are your powerhouse. So let’s use them for another move since that is how yoos will blue! I just mastered this move recently meself, so it’s with ripper honor ta teach me new pupil how to use...” She grinned, “Shadow Claw.” I grinned back.
“Yes!!! But what If I can't learn it like Shadow Ball? Is it because I'm not evil enough-nya...?”
“Bein' evil has got nothing ta do with that, and I recommend yoos stray away from those thoughts.” She poked a finger at my chest where my heart was. “It’s how strong your heart is, and what matter most. All bonzer things will always prevail, remember that.”
I stood up tall. “Okay!! Then teach me how to do Shadow Claw!”
“Tell me Nyarth, what is it that yoos fear most in this world?”
I thought for a moment before responding. “.... The dark. Like... where you can't see anything, can't feel anything, nobody else is around you-nya. Hopelessness.”
“So that's what scares yoos? For me, it’s nah bein' accepted by others, nah feelin' comfortable in me own skin, not being able ta protect others, drowning, and death.” Her claws lit up a purple hue, and then a purple aura took form around her hands. “But yoos need ta accept that these things are fair dinkum and you need to face them. In the military I have faced all these!” The purple glow around her hands sharpens and took the form of claws. “That's how yoos perform a Shadow Claw! CONQUER YOUR FEAR!” She slashed through a dead stump and it split into two.
“I'm also terrified of losing the only family I have-nya. Estelle and Lux are the only ones I have left, and if I lost them, I wouldn't know what to do with myself!!”
“Alright! First of all, are yoos willin' ta face your fears?”
I gulped. “Yes…”
She snapped her fingers, and a Sandstorm formed. It swirled over our heads and formed a closed dome around us, so that no light was passing through. It was pitch dark. I started to panic. I could see images of Estelle dying, Lux being far away so that I couldn’t reach him… I cried out.
“In my head!! I see Estelle getting killed-nya!!! And what if Lux never comes back?!” I felt sharp claws poke at my neck.
“So what? What are yoos goin to do about it?”
I couldn’t take this. I cowered down to the ground and held my head. “I can’t!! I can't do this!! Make it stop, Krory-nya!!!! It's not gonna work!!!” I started to hyperventilate, inhaling some sand, which made me cough.
“ENOUGH! Until yoos gather those fears in your claws, I'm going ta kill yoos Nyarth....” I felt her tail slam the ground next to me, which made me jump. “Be prepared to die!”
“But I can't!! It's not gonna...” I took a shaky breath. I’ve got to learn this move. I have to be able to protect my siblings. And the rest of my friends. My claws started to grow and a purple aura began to surround them.
“Focus your fears into your claws, don't reckon of what might be, think of what could be if yoos don't face your fears!”
“Lux and Estelle... and everyone... we're all mortal, and death will come when it comes. But I can try my hardest to protect them with all I've got-nya....” The aura took shape of large claws covering my hands. I started to grin and looked at Krory, my eyes starting to get adjusted to the dark.
“SHADOW CLAW!!” I slashed forward with my hands in an X. She blocked it with a hand though, shaking her head.
“Nah right….” I swept my foot out at her leg, trying to trip her. She said louder, “Hold on just a bloody moment!! Yoos doin’ it wrong!!”
Suddenly I was picked up by my ankle and held upside down. I struggled, trying to swipe at her with my claws. “Lemme at you!!”
“Just because yoos know Shadow Claw doesn’t mean it’s the same as Slash or Fury Swipes! It’s like havin’ a sword in your hand! One hand at a time then yoos…” She jabbed her own Shadow Claw into the sandstorm wall. “…DESTROY THE ENEMY!”
“Oh!!” I breathed.
“Use your left hand as a sword, and use your right hand as a shield or a quick backup ta give a quick blow!”
I concentrated again, using only my left hand for Shadow Claw. I poised my right arm in a defensive position. “So it’s like I have a sword… nya…”
“Now destroy the bloody wall!!” She yelled.
With a final strike, I hit the sand wall, and it exploded, sending sand flying everywhere. I covered my face with my right arm and coughed. I did it…!
“I did it!!! Krory-nya!! Did you see that??! I was like, GRAAHH! Like this!! And then the darkness just exploded-nya!! Like PSSHEWWWW!!”
She laughed. “Aye, you sure did it.... but yoos let your guard down.... Yoos look like a sandcastle!!” She burst out laughing. I was covered in a huge sand pile. I giggled loudly and gave my head a firm shake, sand flying out of my hair everywhere.
“We have our own little miniature beach here now!” I laughed.
“Aye! Now let's keep practicing!”
*~A couple of days later~*
I was busy doling out sweets to my many customers, giving Sneari a strawberry nougat bar, when Sneari’s face lit up and she smiled at something over my head. I turned around and saw nothing but purple. The lavender that represented the person I had missed so, so much. She hugged me tight.
“I missed you so much, little brother.” She whispered. “I came back, just like I promised.” She kissed the top of my head.
“Onee-chan!!! You came back!!!! I knew you would!!!” I laughed. Pulling out of the hug, I looked her over. She had definitely gotten stronger. “Where were you-nya?? At military boot camp??” I joked, patting her arms. You have muscles!!”
She smiled and shook her head. “No, I found Lupe at our old training dojo. We trained together there for months, and now we’re both back, stronger than ever!”
I was positively shining with happiness. After giving her the candy she was looking for, she took my hand and led me outside. “Let me teach you a new move, Ototo. I think you’ll be glad you learned it.”
“Oh? What is it?”
“Have you heard of Protect? It is a wonderful move, powered by your feelings of love and courage!"
I eagerly agreed, and she got behind me and lightly held my wrists. “Okay, close your eyes and hold your hands out. Think of something that you really love."
I smiled wide, eyes closed. "Poffins!!"
I heard her chuckle. "That is pretty good, but it needs to be something you love most of all. Like a person."
I nod. "You. And Lux. My siblings."
"Okay. Now focus on how much you love and care for us. Let it swell up in your heart, and wash over you. Imagine how much you want to protect us and keep us safe."
Suddenly my heart feels like it’s bursting with affection. I choke out, "I love you-nya..." I got a warm hug then.
"I love my dearest little brother. Sooo much. Now imagine your love and desires flowing through your hands and out, into the air. Think of it as a physical shape, your care for us manifested in the air."
This was actually proving to be really easy. I could literally feel the emotions in my heart spreading through my arms, warm and fuzzy, out through my fingertips. I loved the way it felt.
"Nyarth-kun... Open your eyes."
I slowly opened them, and a bright, translucent yellow oval is suspended in the air in front of me. I gasped.
"You did it!!" She laughed.
"I did-Nya? But it looks different from yours! It's not purple."
"That's because Protect is a unique color for each person who performs the move. Yellow is a good color for you! A pure, happy shade. Just like you."
I know I’m practically beaming as bright as my Protect is.
Then we moved on to using it to deflect various attacks Estelle sent my way. It was great bonding time with my sister, and we both enjoyed it. At the end of the day, we were so exhausted, and trudged back inside together to get some supper and hot chocolate.
*~Some day later~*
I was taking a lap around the mansion, when I spotted a figure emerging from the trees to my left. It seemed to be a Hitmonlee gijinka, and as soon as he saw me he jogged over.
“This is the mansion I have heard so much about, correct?”
I nodded. Was he wanting to stay with us?
“My village in Kanto was recently flooded. The training areas, our homes, everything is under at least fifty feet of water. I was able to get a look at who made this happen, and it was a Gyarados gijinka. I’ve come to you all for help.”
That sounded familiar. That sounded like the water revolution!! Had they already started?! My eyes grew wide. I needed to inform Krory about this, right away. I decided to fill the Hitmonlee in on what was going on.
“Krory - she’s in the military - she brought it to our attention that a group of water gijinkas have been planning to flood the entire world with water and have water types rule the world-nya! For the past four months, we have all been training hard so we can defeat them.” I saw him frown. “I’m sorry for what happened to your village… but once we stop them, we’ll find a way to restore your home to how it was, okay?”
He looked at me with a hard expression. “I want to make them pay for what they have done. Let me train with you here, I promise I will be a great addition to this resistance force you’re creating…” We reached the mansion and I started looking for an empty room on the boy’s wing for him to stay in.
“During the meantime, you can have a spare room here to sleep in! I’ll go talk to Xio-nii-sama to see if he’ll take you into his training group-nya.” He nodded, and thanked me quietly. I left him there in his new room, because it looked like he needed to be alone to think things through.
If the bad guys have already started flooding small towns… that means this war is almost upon us… I shivered. I planned on training to be the best I could be, so that I could protect and defend all of the victims of this water war.
*~A week before the impending battle~*
The day of battle was getting closer, and I had gotten stronger. I was sparring again with Xio, and I was in the middle of directing a lightning bolt his way.
He smirked at the incoming bolt and merely chopped his arm to the side to deflect it. “You’re going to have to do better than that, kid…” He growled. I quickly swept my leg out to kick his shin, and it connected for half a second before he jumped, doing a back flip and roundhouse kicking me. I was knocked into the air by his kick, but on the way down, I tucked my legs into my chest and spun like a buzz saw in the air, my tail turning into steel.
“Oh, Iron Tail, huh? I’ll show you how it’s really done, brat!!” He smirked and made his way toward me with his tail glowing, and aimed at me. I jumped high in the air to dodge him, but I was surprised.
“Not bad kid, you aren't as damn weak as you used to be! Thanks to me that is!”
“You know how to do Iron Tail???” I asked, incredulous. I was certain I knew of all his attacks by now… I summoned some electricity and aimed a Thunderbolt at him, energy jumping eagerly from my fingertips.
“I didn’t.” He poised his arms to absorb the lightning and then grinned toothily at me.
Wait, WHAT?! He can learn moves that quickly?! I was floored.
“Arceus!!!” My voice cracked, which bothered me, and I struggled to catch my breath from the exertion. “You learned just by watching me do it once??”
“Indeed I did, does that surprise you…?”
I wiped moisture off of my forehead. “Naw, I knew you were really strong and smart. That just makes me wanna be stronger than ever! I'm going to be as powerful as you one day Xio-nii-sama, and when that day comes, you better be ready for a REAL rematch-nya!!” I jumped on the balls of my feet in a defensive posture, ready to take another attack.
“Oh really? Is that a promise?” Sarcasm dripped from his words.
“Definitely!! I'm already a whole lot stronger than I used to be, I know the water gijinkas have another thing coming! I'm going to beat all of them-nya!!!”
I’m not gonna lie, I was super-confident. I was a whole lot stronger than I used to be. This fight was going to go my way. Xio didn’t seem too happy about my burst of courage, however.
He crossed the distance between us and growled. “A little over confident, don't ya think?”
Even though Xio's a full head-and-a-half taller than I was, I stood upright and puffed out my chest, refusing to cower under his shadow. “I don't think so at all. I know I'm strong now. I used to be weak, but now I can protect Estelle... I can protect my sister. I know I'm not as strong as you are yet, but I am ready for this battle-nya!!”
Suddenly he burst out in dry laughter.
“Pro-protect?! Kid, you need to get your head out of your ass! Honestly, you don't stand a chance at protecting her. More than likely, it will be the other way around. You need your head examined!”
Okay, now I was getting irritated. Why couldn’t he let me be optimistic?? “You're wrong-nya!!! I LOVE my Nee-chan. I will do anything to protect her, because I'm a man, and men protect the women in their life.” I couldn’t help echoing what Lux had always taught me. “It's all going to work out, because I care for her!” My voice cracked again, and small sparks of electricity popped from my cheek whiskers.
“A man?” He grunted. “Have you checked a damn mirror lately? You are still a kid, so remember that! Your emotions for her make you weak! They are merely a distraction! Yes, you are stronger, but I don't think you comprehend what we are up against! Don't get cocky with me, brat!” He spat.
Emotions are NOT a distraction. They do NOT make one weak. Estelle said, “Protect is fueled by your feelings of love.”
And I believe her.
“You wouldn’t understand the power of caring for someone! What do you even know about fighting for something you love, anyway-nya? You don't have any siblings to protect!”
I could see the piercing stare of his glare at me. I could see him getting angrier, and I could also hear it – his emotion was causing the clouds above us to get dark and rumbly.
“You don’t care about anyone In this mansion either! Why are you even fighting alongside us, Xio? Huh?? Are we even your friends??”
“You can't understand how I feel! You have nothing to protect except your own selfish wants! I have a sister, a brother, all these friends who are really counting on me and I will NOT let them down-nya!!” I jabbed my thumb on my chest. “I am strong enough to protect them, and I will.”
That did it.
“SHUT UP!” Bolts of electricity from the clouds started swarming around Xio like a tornado. “You don't know a damn thing about me! You think now that you have gotten stronger you think you can waltz right into this blood bath and protect everyone! You are so ignorant, kid! It's that kind of wishful thinking that will get yourself killed, or worse, someone else!”
He fired a Thunderbolt at me and roared, “So don't fucking tell me how strong you are when I know you don't got what it takes to back it up, because damn it, I KNOW what happens!”
I wasn’t expecting the Thunderbolt, and it knocked me back onto the ground. But I wasn’t going to let him talk to me like that.
“What happens, huh?? Maybe YOU don't have successful battles because you have no one to fight for!! Maybe if you did, it would be different. When you love someone, it gives you all the strength in the world to protect them. But you're too cold and...” I started building up a ball of Frustration in my hands, “HEARTLESS to care about ANYONE-nya!!!!” I yelled loudest, and threw the ball right at his stupid head.
He didn’t move, and my Frustration hit him in the forehead. His claws began to twitch and he breathed loudly. “I see… so that's what you think, huh?” He said in a deep voice. “I'm heartless, you say? Heh.”
Now I started to get scared. His eyes were pitch black and markings covered his face. He slapped my face with the back of his hand.
“THE LAST TIME I CARED ABOUT SOMEONE, SHE WAS KILLED IN FRONT OF ME!”
Wow. That was unexpected.
“You don't understand a damn thing! You're a kid, so what do you know? Just because you have gotten stronger means nothing; I could kill you right now, just like those men did to Lydia!! HUH, NYARTH!?” He latched his claws around my throat, and picked me up like I weighed nothing. I scrabbled at his hand, choking and gasping for air. “You honestly think I don't understand what it’s like to have a sibling?! I watched my sist-”
Suddenly he stopped short and dropped me to the ground. I rubbed my neck as I watched him walk off. “Who was Lydia…?” I called out, voice snappish and raw.
“None of your damn business.”
“But you loved her?”
“I did... at a time.... but she's merely a washed up memory now....” He left me in the rain, fists jammed in his coat pockets.
I was merely stunned, and just sat there in the mud and let our conversation wash over me again. After several minutes, I picked myself up and went to take a hot shower, and finally collapsed from exhaustion on my bed.
*~The next morning~*
I was jarred awake by someone ripping the sheets and covers out from under me. I clamored around on my bed, trying to shake the sleepiness, disoriented. “Wh…. What happened??” I murmured groggily. After blinking the blurriness from my eyes, I saw Xio standing before me, dressed in a white collared shirt, black slacks, and his dark hair down for once.
“Get dressed... you're coming with me today.” I could only stare at him. “What are you looking at?”
“Why are you dressed all nice?”
He made a sound of annoyance. “Just get dressed will you? Put on the outfit you wore to the ball and slick your hair back; you need to look your best where we are going. Meet me in my room in 30 minutes.... if you're late.... I'll kill you...” With that, he was gone.
He wouldn’t really kill me, would he…? I glanced at my alarm clock, noticed that it was WAY too early, and huffed. Nevertheless, I slid out of bed and made my way to my closet to change.
I arrived down the hall to Xio’s room approximately 32 minutes later.
“Nii-sama... is this what you wanted me to do-nya?”
He was adjusting his coat and tying his shoes, his back to me. “Well you're late... as I expected...”
“Nya... this must be a really special occasion. You never put your hair up like that.” I crossed into his room and stood against his dresser, leaning on it casually while waiting for him to finish.
“Personally, I rather not dress like this; it’s just too lavish for me.” A faint beeping interrupted him, and he flipped open a cell phone. “Yeah? ................... Understood.” He snapped it shut and stuffed it in his jacket pocket. “Our ride is here; let’s get our asses moving.”
“Are we meeting hot dates??” I started re-fixing my hair, getting nervous. “Hey, do I look okay??”
“You’re fine…”
“You didn't even look-nya! I need to look like a sexy kitty before I meet any girls!!”
With an annoyed tone, he said, “Who said anything about meeting girls? I bet that comes from that idiotic dumbass Lux, right? Thinking you're going to a club or something. Such ignorance... This is something completely different.”
We reached the door. The negative mention of Lux riled me up.
“Hey!! Lux is the BEST brother I have ever had!! He's brave, and strong, and a nice gentleman to people! Don't say that about him-nya!!!”
Xio waved at a black car that was pulling into the driveway. “You said you were powerful and grown up, right? Time to prove it, brat. You acting all tough...tch...”
“I plan to. Whatever it is, I can handle it.” After speaking to the driver, he opened the back door and we piled in.
“Oh really? Hmph, we'll see.” He spoke a little louder, to the driver. “Alright, take us there.”
I watched as my home gradually grew smaller and smaller. “Xio........ where exactly are we going?”
He was silent for a time, simply staring out the window with an unreadable expression. Then he spoke.
“We're going to....the mafia...”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
OH MY GOSH. THE PLOT TWIST. haha, not really. This little mafia side-thing, none of the other gijinkas will know about it. Afton and I just thought it'd be interesting for Xio to take Nyarth to the mafia so he can see how terrible the world is. We're poisoning the mind of my poor little baby ;3;
And HOLY COW, YEAH I KNOW, NYARTH LEARNS SO MANY NEW MOVES. You get tired of posts being ONLY about talking to people, or about brushing your teeth and watching tv? Well, here you go, a post with MOSTLY SPARRING SCENES!! :DDDDD *shot*
Yeah, he learns Iron Tail, Frustration, Shadow Claw, and Protect in this post. Nyarth needed more moves, haha. Let's see how he puts them to use on the submarine raid. :3
After this, Xio's post is coming, with an interesting conclusion to this mafia scene! How will it go? Will Nyarth make it out alive? ONLY TIME WILL TELL.
