-Mist-

A ray of sunshine lit my face as I was peacefully sleeping. I turned away from it, but then I snapped. Where the hell were I?! I sat on the bed, looking around me. That was not my room… but then I remembered. I was in Krory’s room. I was worried about her reaction in the locker’s room, so i went to check on her. It was so unusual to see her so… scared about something.

I smiled to myself, falling back on the bed again. That was nice of her to let me stay in her room, even though she probably slept on the couch, since the bed had messy covers only where I slept. I was still sleepy, so I took a few more minutes to relax, as I hugged the pillow tightly.

“I shall thank her for this” I told to myself getting up, then I started making the bed. After that I swiftly took my way to my room, passing through walls. As I got there, I felt an odd presence. The window was open, and on my bed was a shiny thing. I got closer, while looking around, but nothing was missing. Then I took the shiny thing in my hands. It looked like a feather, it was so beautiful! As a ray of sunshine passed through it, I could see all kind of colors, perfectly shaded and blended. I’ve never seen something as beautiful as this, so I decided to hang it next to the spell tag in my earring. I closed the window and went to the kitchen to eat something. As I got there phasing through all the walls, I heard Patrick talk. Training together made us friends so I entered the conversation without thinking too much.
“Good morning Patrick.” He jumped a little as he saw me. Oh how much I love scaring him! He always does those little surprised jumps, I just can’t resist.
“Oh, good morning Mist, how have you been?” he asked. I then noticed two guys, that I’ve never seen around.
“I’ve been good, who are your friends?” I asked motioning towards the two.
“This is my cousin Zane the Zangoose and this is Ross the Metagross.” He told. “Ross, Zane, this is Mist the Mismagius. She was one of my partners in our training group.”
“Training?” They said in unison. They.. don’t know about this? Weird. But if they’re new I guess they have an excuse.
“Oh right I haven’t told you two yet.” he said.
“One of the gijinkas that lives here was kidnapped by the water god Gijinkas.” I smirked telling them what Patrick should have done before.
“Water god gijinkas?” Zane was still confused, maybe it was too much info at once. I should try and scare him as well, he looks like a funny person to mess with.
“Yeah, they are planning on flooding the world.” I giggled a little grabbing some food. “Well it was nice meeting you two.” I smiled and walked through the wall leaving the room. Training time.
“See you later Mist.” I heard Patrick spoke to me.
“If I don’t scare you first.” I giggled as I walked away. I ate the snack I got in the kitchen and then went towards the Mansion’s gym. On my way to there I met other gijinkas, all getting ready to train in their own way. I’ve never seen so much people all at once here.. this war surely was a serious business.

It’s been a while since I started going there along with others. The training and the war started to make us in need of friends, and close people to talk with. The gym was always frequented, though I hadn’t seen Delin and Tanner since the training with Krory ended. I’ve seen Rai a couple of times, but I’ve mostly seen Patrick, Zane and Maria. I was becoming quite friend with them, and I enjoyed their company. Plus teasing Zane was as funny as scaring Patrick, so I never lost the chance to spar with them.
As all days I walked there, and I heard their voices.
“So how is this working? Is it two on two or is it one-on-one?” I heard Ross ask.
“Well we could do one-on-one.” Patrick answered. Perfect timing. He’s distracted.
“Do you mind if I join?” I appeared behind Patrick.
“Stop doing that.” he exhaled clutching onto his chest trying to calm down from being scared.
“You’re just so easy to catch off guard when you’re thinking Patrick.” I giggled. The big guy named Ross walked to me.
“Hello Mist I do believe that I didn’t get to properly introduce myself the last time we met. My name is Ross the Metagross, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” he bowed slightly. Such a gentleman.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you as well Ross.” I nodded.
“Miss Mist, did you come to join us!?” Maria chirped.
“If I’m allowed to, I think that it would be fun.” I smiled at her. When she was so happy she kinda reminded me of Kiiro.
“Of course you are!” she answered.
“Thank you, I felt like I needed some help with some sparing as well. So is it one-on-one?” I asked looking at the others.
“Yep we can start whenever everyone is ready.” Patrick nodded to me.
“Good.” A creepy smile spread across my lips as I vanished from my spot.
“Come on big boy I’m your opponent.” I said choosing Zane as my opponent. I appeared behind him and I started running my fingers over his shoulders, feeling his shivers. I then floated through him, laughing lightly. He went after me, trying to hit me, but he failed due to me being a ghost. Not that I could land an hit on him as well.. it was just for fun! As we continued our little spar I heard Maria coming at my side, just in time to face Zane together.

As I kept distracting him with my illusions, Maria was always ready to hit him with spark. It occurred to me that she only uses that attack, but I didn’t ask why. Actually Zane wasn’t even trying to hit me, because he used his shadow claws just to wipe out my illusions instead of me. The fight turned more to a play than anything else in the end.

“Can you give some of that grace to Zane.” I heard Ross comment loudly for Zane to hear.
“I heard that!” Zane shouted at him stomping his foot.
“Oodily, oodily, oodily!” I giggled sticking his hand through his chest, taking advantage of his distraction .
he screamed and lifted up his shirt showing the zigzag mark that was from his left hip and goes up across his chest to his right shoulder. Then he started to run away from me, and I floated behind him with no problems.
“You better run Zane.” Maria laughed, following me.
As we were still running, a sudden light caught my eye, so I stopped and turn to it. Zane approached me,
“Tired already?” he said in a challenging tone, but I just pointed at Patrick, who was engulfed in a bright light. He turned as well with a puzzled face, and Maria stopped, hiding behind me. As the light faded, Patrick was there, but he had changed a lot. He was a lot taller, and also the color of his hair changed. He had evolved?
“Damn Pat you look fine.” I called to him.
he looked over at me a bit perplexed
“Um…thank you…I think…” he said.
I floated over to him as Maria was still hiding behind me. I stared at him with curiosity, I’ve never seen an evolution apart from mine.
“I’m confused what changed?” he asked looking around.
“Dude, your hair is spotted now, and you only have some pink around your face.” Zane explained.
“And your eyes are more feline.” I pointed out. Patrick looked at me and then at Maria, who was behind me, holding my shirt like a scared child.
“Maria…what’s wrong?” He asked.
“Y-You…” she barely squeaked as a reply, and I could feel her fear around me.
“Me? Why, what’s wrong? I evolved but I’m still the same person.” He blinked. she gripped onto my shirt tighter so I turned a little and looked at her.
“Aw, it’s ok Maria, don’t be scared of the big kitty!” I smiled at her, trying to calm her down. I remembered how my companions looked at me as I evolved, it was quite awkward.
“What did I do wrong? I’m sorry I evolved, it’s not like it was something that I can control.” Patrick sounded irritated, it was not like him, but maybe it was all too sudden. I stayed silent as Zane was trying to do something.
“Patrick, calm down.”
“Zip it Zigzag.” Patrick snapped.
“Patrick! Be nice!” Maria said clearly, and then shrunk back. Before Patrick could respond, Ross stopped him.
“I think that you need to go cool off Patrick. You just evolved and that means you’re going through a rough patch and you don’t know what to do.” he calmly said.
“But…fine, I’ll go and take a shower.” Pat sighed and turned and started heading to the locker room.
“Right now I’m glad that I don’t evolve.” Zane muttered. Maria then started crying. And Zane tried to calm her. I wonder what happened really…
“Don’t worry, I’ll take care of you since your boyfriend is throwing a hissy fit.” Then suddenly Zane was pulled away from her, and faster than my eyes could see, Patrick was threatening him with his claws..
“Touch her an I will kill you.” Patrick voice was evil, and serious. Maria’s fear grew up so much that I could touch it in the air, beside feeling bad for her I felt a lot stronger than before. Ross ran at Patrick, managing to knock him out and then pulled him over his shoulder.
“I’m sorry about this.” He said to Maria. “Mist, take care of her.” He put a hand on my shoulder, and I nodded in response. Ross quickly left the gym with Patrick and I floated closer to Maria.
“Are you ok?” she blinked
“I, don’t know…” she whispered. I looked at her sympathetically. “I’m sure he didn’t mean it. He’s just confused right now.” she nodded a little.
“I-I’m going to, go for a walk. I’ll be ok.”
“Do what you need to do, if you need me, please let me know.” I said.
“I-I’m sorry…” she uttered an apology then ran out of the gym.
I looked over at Zane, who was worried about his friends.
“I’m gonna take a look at Patrick, but maybe it’s better for you if you wait a bit… the evolution has shocked him, I don’t think he meant to threaten you.” I said.
“I hope so.” He replied, walking away. “our fight shall wait a bit I guess”

I went to Ross’ room, following his trail of energy. As I was about to phase through the door and go in, I decided it would be more polite to knock before.
“Come in.” said Ross. I then phased through the door like usual.
“How is everything going in here?”
“Hey Mist.” Patrick said with a light smile. Well, that’s good. It seems he has calmed down.
“Hello Mist. Everything is going well. Patrick has calmed down and is fine.” ross said to me as I looked at Patrick
I switched my gaze to him before looking back towards Patrick.
“That is good to hear. You had me worried Patrick.” I answered.
“I’m sorry, Mist but I am doing much better thanks to Ross.” He said. Pat is lucky to have friends such as Ross..
“Okay then. I shall leave you two alone. Bye Pat. Bye Ross.” I replied before vaporizing through the wall.
“Good bye Mist.” I heard them say.

So weeks passed, and finally the days before the war approached. Some of us were excited, other worried, other completely oblivious to it. As for me I was calm. I was quite confident in myself, and as long as I could use my powers, I wasn’t worried of anything.
Plus with the training I powered up a lot thanks to Krory’s efforts, so I felt better.
The day passed quickly, like the other days, even if there was tension in the air. I stayed up until late, doing my own business and cleaning my Cursed Blade, hoping that I won’t need it. As I went to bed I felt tired like I’ve never been in ages, maybe the tension had caught me too without me noticing. I fell asleep in no time, waiting for the day the leaders will call us to settle the plan of attack.

“Mist. Mist!”
What was that? A voice? Calling me? I opened an eye to see the hour. 4 am? Well forget it stupid voice. I’m not interrupting my precious sleep. I turned and took the covers over my head.
The voice let out a sigh.
“You never change huh? Well, neither do I!” said it laughing in an devilish way. I opened my eyes in surprise as the voice who actually was a person took the covers away from me and went under the bed making it tremble. I easily levitated to avoid the movements, as my sleepy brain started to remember.
“Grim…”
A Gengar gijinka came out of the bed grinning.
“Finally.” He smiled getting up completely “I feared I was going to get discovered here. There’s a security system that will make every burglar quiver!”
I hugged him tight, hiding my face in his neck.
“Idiot!! What if you were mistaken for a spy?!”
“I missed you too, Mist. We all miss you, but knowing you were safe was enough.” He said hugging me back and ignoring what I said. Totally like him!
“Morty sent me here. We have a really important message for you. He saw the future again, and foresaw the war you’re going to take part to. That’s why he told me to give you the feather you’ve hanged to your earring” he said touching it lightly.
“It’s Ho-Oh’s feather”
“What? I can’t keep it, no way!! It’s too precious!”
“that’s exactly why you have to keep it!! This way you won’t get hurt, because you know you have to live for us… anyway don’t worry. He saw you all will win the war, he just wanted to be sure of your safety”
I didn’t know what to do or say. I thought I would have never seen him again but he was right there, my first friend after the disaster at the Lost Tower. He let me go and started to look around.
“Well what an awesome room you got there!!” he roamed around levitating as I usually do, then he opened my drawer and looked inside, then started laughing. Why was he laughing? I had nothing in there, all of my clothes are in my bags apart from the ones I have now. I floated near him, as he peeks out of the drawer with a smug smirk on his face.
“What now?” I asked, a little annoyed by that.
“I could die to see you with THIS on” he said pulling a thing out of the drawer. I stared at the piece of clothing for minutes. It was a semi-transparent babydoll with laces decorating it. I took it in hand, and watched it, as it seemed like it was made for me. I looked back at Grim with a neutral expression, as he was grinning in a perv way.
“You know what I’m going to try it, wanna see?” I asked while putting that over my clothes. I smirked while watching my dear friend’s reaction. His grin dropped, his face flushed and instantly closed his eyes with an hand, waving at me with the other.
“NO! I was just joking! Gosh Mist you always know how to ruin my tricks right? It would have been funnier if you had just blushed and hit me, but no. You’re teasing now!”
I laughed like I never did in my last years away from him, and then put the dress on the bed.
“It’s not the same without you, Mist. We need a female companion in our group! Like, I can’t pull down Dusek’s pants, what do you think?!”
“Is that another way to say you’ll pull down my pants? You know I would kill you later!” I smiled creepily. “And try to do that to Dusek. He needs to have fun sometimes”
Grim laughed “With you as a partner it was more fun.” He said smiling softly.
As I was about to say something, he got up, perking his ears.
“Something’s wrong?” I asked.
“…No. I felt like someone was close. I better leave now” he said with a sad expression.
“Can’t you wait a bit more? You’ve just arrived…” I tried to stop him.
“I have to go, Mist… but don’t worry. I’ll be back, and the next time I’m expecting a proper welcome!” he smirked. His attitude always made me smile. I hugged him tightly, and then kissed him on the cheek.
“Give the kiss to everyone ok?!” I said to him. He looked at me a bit shocked.
“Do I REALLY have to kiss them? Really?!” he said a bit worried. “Hell, Samael will bite off my head”
I laughed. “No, tell them I send a kiss to all of them, and that I love them. BUT! You have to kiss Morty ok? And hug him too. And tell him I miss-“ he closed my mouth with his hand.
“I know. I know everything” he smiled. “Gotta go now. We’ll see each other soon, I promise.” He quickly hugged me and the disappeared. I Stayed there, with air between my arms instead of my dear friend.

I sighed and went out of the room, to take a walk, calming myself. I started playing with the feather, as I heard another person walking across the corridors.
“Can’t sleep too, yeah?” asked a female voice. I turned to her and nodded.
“I don’t like how this is going. The war, everything. I don’t wanna kill anyone, yeah.” She looked at me, as expecting an answer, but I didn’t know what to say.
“Anyway I don’t think we’ve ever been introduced, right? I’m Sneari the Weavile.” She said casually, tilting her head.
“Mist the Mismagius, nice to meet you” I said nodding to her.
“Care for some smoothies yeah? I’m quite good at them. We can have a midnight snack before trying to sleep” she asked.
I smiled and followed her. Something sweet must surely help me. As we got to the kitchen, the feather near my ear lightly scraped my neck, reminding me that I had to live, for those I love.
