The Knight and the Page

Aisling and Mari ran down the hall away from the demons that were battling Ryuu. Aisling prayed that he would be alright. They continue running until they were in the an empty hall way, there were windows to one side that gave them light from the moon outside.

Aisling leaned forward to rest her hands on her knees and tried to catch her breath. She notice minor throbbing pain from her knees and hands. She wondered why she was feeling pain then she looked at Mari who was leaning against the wall painting.

"Are you hurt?" Aisling asked Mari.

Mari looked at her blinking. "What?"

"Are you feeling pain on your hands and knees?"

"Huh?" Mari looked at her hands and her palms were red. "Yeah, must have happened when I tripped. Wait how did you know that I felt pain on said body parts?"

Aisling looked at her own hands and felt the pain ebbing away. "I'm a spiritual empath. I can sense the emotions and pain from people and spirits. I can feel people's physical pain through skin contact."

"Oh," said Mari. "What were those things?"

"Demons."

"Demons?! Seriously?!"

"Yeah," said Aisling she shivered and put a hand to her stomach. She could still feel the evil and twisted energy and she was sure there were more demons around the school.

"I don't understand I been in this school for years, they're were always ghosts but never demons or whatever they are."

Aisling shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know. They could be drawn to the many spirits that haunt this place."

"They ate one of my friends." Mari whispered.

Aisling looked at her with sympathy. "I'm sorry."

Mari looked sad and then shook her head. "No time for this, do you know how to fight against them."

Aisling shook her head and looked downcast, "I don't know how to use my spiritual pressure to fight. I never thought I would come across demons in my work."

Mari stared at her and shook her head. "What kind of parents allow you to go around at night. Was the other girl with red hair your relative?"

"No no blood relation ship. My parents wanted me to use my powers to good use and they allow be to go on investigations. They have confidence in me." Aisling paused. "But I guess they didn't know of how dangerous this line of work is or they had never let me take cases."

"Wow," Mari said. "Okay so what do we do now?"

Aisling thought about it. "We should find Emiko and try to stay away from the demons."

Mari nodded, "Alright lets go."

Aisling and Mari turned the corner at the same time and both stiffen when the saw a demon at the end of the hall. "Oh crap." Mari said.

They both turned on their heel and ran. Aisling could hear the demon going after them. The turned the corner and stopped as the faced a dead end.

"You got to be kidding me!!" Mari exclaimed. Aisling turned around and saw the demon.

"Mari!" Aisling shouted as the demon lunged at them.

Aisling and Mari screamed and there was a bright flash of light. Aisling felt something move in her pocket and shot out of it. A fiery ball of light suspended in the air in front of Aisling. The light grew larger and took a shape of a humanoid figure. The when the light dimmed and Aisling stared in awe at a knight standing before.

The knight faced the demon and drew out a sword. The demon hissed and lunged at the knight. He (she guessed the knight was male) blocked the demon's clawing with the sword and on contact the sword's blade burst into bright red flames. The demon screeched and backed away from the knight. The knight charged forward and stabbed his sword into the demon's chest. The demon gave one last howl of pain and it was no more.

Aisling stood there and stared in amazement as the knight sheathed his sword and relaxed his stance. He turned around and Aisling could feel his eyes on him despite his face was concealed by an armor visor. "Um..." Aisling staring at the knight. He step forward and to her utter bewilderment kneel before her. "Wha-what are you doing?"

"Showing respect to his master of course." said a bright voice. Aisling looked up at she was started it was a fairy.

Not like the fairies that her grandmother associated with. This fairy boy that could not be bigger than her hand was like the faeries in children picture books. He grinned at Aisling, "It's been along time, M' lady."

Aisling blinked at the fairy boy that was hovering a few feet from her. "Who are you?"

"What you already forgotten your favorite page boy?"

Aisling blinked again and stared at him. He did looked familiar to her and then it clicked. "Your the Page of Wands."

He nodded, "But you can call me Puck like you did before."

"Before?"

Aisling felt something tug at her arm and she looked at Mari. "Uh what's going on here?"

"I'm not really sure."

"I'll explain as it seems time has buried her memories." Puck said. "We are the spirits of her tarot cards. I'm the Page of Wands and he's the Knight of Swords. His name is Brant. Say hello Brant."

The knight Brant said nothing. "He's...what you call a silent knight." Puck chuckled at his own joke.

"Tarot?" Mari said. "As in fortune telling?"

Aisling nodded and took out the card case. "These were the cards that I had ever since they I was little. I always knew they were magical but I didn't know they could become 3-D and life size."

Mari glanced at the card case, then at the knight and page. "Wow, demons, knights and fairies. Good lord I feel like I'm in the middle of Harry Potter or something. What next dragons."

"Excuse M' Lady and friend." Mari frowned at Puck. "But I believe that we should do something. I sense this place is crawling with demons and I sense something else something very strong and dangerous near by." Puck turned to Mari and did a ten hunt pose. "What are you're orders, M' Lady?"

Aisling blinked and thought about. "Emiko and Ryuu could use are help. We should find them."

Puck and Brant bowed they're heads at her. "Yes, M' Lady."

Aisling couldn't help but blush. "Um okay lets go." She had so many questions she wanted to ask them but it would have to wait.
