Is it snowing yet?
With Christmas only being a few days away, if you're not doing any last minute shopping, you might be thinking about what the weather is like. I know I am. So many people around the world have to travel if they want to see their loved ones for the holiday. It's the same for me, even if the distance is short. Still, I always think about it since I always wonder if we'll have snow or not.
This year I wonder no more and I know we will have a White Christmas, but what about the rest of you? I know some of you are in parts of the world where Christmas is summer instead of winter. I find that really odd since I've never lived where it's warm for Christmas. o_O
So what is your holiday weather like? What were some of the oddest times for you? Like Rachmaninoff mentioned in the thread at OtakuBoards, we had one year where at the end of two days of snow, we had over 700 accidents.
It hasn't been that bad this year, but it is cold, icy and even more snow is expected to show up between now and Christmas.
Monthly Game Club!
OB member Matt has recently come up with an interesting idea for the arcade; a thread (or club) where once a month everyone plays a classic game and then discusses it. See: The Classic Games Club
The Arcade has been a little slow lately and it's nice to see creative threads like this going up. We have a lot of gamers but we all have different tastes which is why this thread will be really interesting for me.

Christmas Banner Competition 2008
We try to hold one of these every year on OB. Basically, members submit their banner designs and we end up choosing one to sit atop OtakuBoards throughout Christmas.
It's a fun little thing that brings out some great ideas. I really love looking at the designs people put together. And it's always great to have a holiday theme on the site too.

Signature of the Week
Well, the whole "bi"-weekly aspect of this time's Signature of the Week is sort of non-existent... Sorry about that everybody! That it took a week extra. :( In any case! I will just go for it right away! Another contest is over and a new one has begun. But first the old one!
So, the Signature of the Week 008 is now officially over and the winners are announced!
The theme was Hobbies and the entrants made full use of it, ending up in a vast variety of entries. The winner was obvious after the first few votes, ending up with 40% of the votes: Lucy! However, until late in the game, it was hard to see who would come in second. In the end, with 30% of the votes, Vicky took second place! Congratulations you two!
Their signatures can be admired in the Hall of Fame as usual!
And with that this Signature of the Week comes to an end... But the next one is up already as well! So, step up to the plate and join in on the fun!
This week's theme is ‘‘Things I Hate’’, to kind of compensate with the other week's theme. So, lets see what the artsy people can do with that theme in a signature! If you have a neat idea yourself... Like always, jump right in!
Thread of the Year
Since we're now getting close to the end of 2008, I thought it'd be appropriate to post a thread of the year rather than a regular thread of the week.
At first I thought this would be a very difficult task, because there have been so many fantastic threads throughout the year. But luckily the job was made easier for me recently, with the following thread:
The thread title promises something great and it really delivers - members Indi and Nathan have recently announced their engagement.
It's pretty rare that anything like this happens within our little community! Congratulations, Indi and Nathan.
