Why? You did really good job. Specially the BG. BG was thought out a lot. Meaning of every design you have draw was really detailed and meaningful. Color coordination was great. Using a lot of bright color bring out your personality. Don't forget, 1 is better then none!
I'm not going to sugar coated or anything, but isn't funnest part of drawing is bring out what you're thinking into the paper? Reason why, I've enter this contest was recently, me & my friends were so hooked on Samba de Amigo that we play it til 5~6am!!! So I've draw into paper/Photoshop. If that made ppl laugh, or remembering about playing Samba de Amigo, then "Mission Accomplished..." LOL
I'm not Sensei, just my opinion. I would say yours and 1st place Jeweloflife were in my top ranking for this contest. I'm just another Otaku that like to draw. :]
