Chapter 1: The Beginning of the End

The sun was shining and the skies were clear on this mid-day in June in the Village Hidden in the Leaves. The streets were filled with many young ninja playing games such as jump rope, tag, and four square. Even your elite ninja were enjoying this hot day in the sun to just relax. Well, every elite ninja except yours truely.

Hi, my name is Iruka Umino. I am a one of the top ninjas here in the village, next to Kakashi Hatake and Might Guy. I do not understand it myself how Guy is stronger then I am, but I guess since we are on the same side it really doesn't matter. I maybe the third top ninja here in the village, but I see it in a different view. I may be third compared to Kakashi and Guy, nevertheless, I am the top female ninja here next to the Hokage, Lady Tsunade. Ahhh yea, since she is the Hokage she doesn't count hehe.

Anyway as I was saying, I am your typical ninja who lives here. I complete missions, go out to party, and teach the young kids how to perform ninjitsu which to be honest, I do not understand why I took this job on. But I guess it is fun and I do get my benefits. I mean who really wouldn't want a sensei like me? I mean look at me, I got great legs, a tight butt, long hair, cute face, and a nice pair of....BLAM!

"Opps sorry Iruka Sensei. Are you alright?" asked Naruto picking up a ball that had hit me square in the face.

"Yes I am fine Naruto." I said while rubbing my face. "You should really be more careful with that ball. I mean you are in the middle of the street. I guess thinking happens to be your weakness because I doubt that hitting someone with the ball never crossed your mind?"

"Say what?" He asked with a dumb smile. "But anyway sensei where were you heading too?"

"I just happened to be heading to see Lady Hokage because of a summoning." I said proudly. "Unlike some people, I have important things to tend too."

"HEY WHAT IS THAT SUPPOSE TO MEAN!!! I got important things to do too!" He screamed. Then he picked up the ball and threw it at me.

To bad for him I am smarter than that; so I caught it with one hand and popped it with an evil smirk. He just stood there stupidly and sat down to pout.

"Hey Naruto, just stay out of trouble today alright?" I exclaimed as I began to walk away to see the Hokage. "If you're good maybe I might treat you to some ramen. How does that sound?"

"OMG really?" His eyes lite up. "Alright that's a deal. Believe it!" He said as he gave the thumbs up.

I just smiled and waved and began to jump from one roof top to another. However, something was bothering me.

I didn't understand why I was called to see the hokage on a day like today. I mean it was Sunday and we ninja should at least have one day off a week. I mean really, I just came back from a mission that involved finding a super rare aging cream for my Lady. Hehe I guess I probably will never understand that women.

I then landed in front of our Lady's door and knocked once to see if there was a respond. If not then I would quickly escape to bipass this mission and take the day off and relax hoping to work on my tan. But suddenly I heard a voice that said to come in. Oh crap!

"Lady Hokage I came as you asked me too. What is it I can do for you today? Maybe I can get you anti-wrinkling cream as well." I giggled as I kneeled on the floor.

"That's enough with your smartass remarks Iruka. I summoned you here for a good reason and that is I need you to complete a mission. A mission I know only you can do because of your talents." She said sitting at her desk. She then turned to the window and stood up watching a pair of birds fly by.

"My lady what is it that you ask of me. I am sure I can get it done as soon as possible. It would be an honor."

"Alright Iruka, that is much better. I like it better when you are obedient anyway. The mission involves you heading to the land of waves and obtaining a book that has many documents. These documents have dates and articles that go back over 1,000 years. But this book is one of a kind, and has been lost somewhere in the land of waves. This book is very important because it has written assignments of events that have taken place over the years here in the village..."

"My lady," I interuppted, "this doesn't have anything to do with Orochimaru does it?"

"Yes it does." She said in a cold voice. "It may have some leads to his where abouts and also where the boy Sasuke Uchiha has gone as well. You do recall that he left on his own free will a few months ago to seek Orochimaru. Whatever plans they both have. I tend to find out what is going to happen between them or what will happen in the future. With this book, it may have some clues on the plans of Orochimaru. That is why I need you to get it. You are the most skilled when it comes to seeking things compared to the others. Plus I have to admit, you look the most innocent compared to Kakashi and Guy."

"I understand my lady. I will obtain this book for you and make sure that nothing will happen to it until it is within your hands. Besides this mission is a piece of cake, even a child could do it." I said arrogantly and began to laugh.

"Oh really?" She said with a smile. "Is that so Iruka? Well then I have to tell you one more thing about this mission."

I started to get a bad feeling about this. I just stared at her wondering what did she mean by that. She gave me that look like, 'you are so screwed.'

"Well in that case Iruka, I have assigned you a partner to go with you."

"A partner? And who might that be?" I asked nervously.

She sat down and crossed both arms across her chest and smiled at me, "He's right outside my door. I thought since you knew him so well, and he has been dying for a mission that you two would do well together. Hey! Come on in!"

The door began to open. I trembled to know who I was assigned with. Was it one of my elite rivals or was someone from the anbu? First a foot, then a hand, and then I saw him. My jaw dropped.

"Hey! Sup Sensei!" Naruto laughed as he walked through the door

"NO WAY NO WAY IN HELL AM I WORKING WITH HIM!" I rushed to the desk. "I can't, you see, I mean really, you even had said a few days ago his mission rating is at a failing status. I don't want to tarnish my perfect record."

She smiled with a grin and said sarcasticly, "But you had said this mission was so easy even a child could do it am I correct? That is why I assigned Naruto to work with you. To see if he could actually complete a mission without fail with the guidence of such a great sensei."

I stood there shocked and motionless.

You old hag! You turned my own words against me. How dare you! I can't believe she did that and I fell for it. My god she shall pay. But now I have to worry about him.

I looked at him and got the worse gut feeling of all time as he stood there all giddy and happy. He was acting like a child. At that moment I knew this was the beginning of the end!
