SF4 release date! Plus Gouken gameplay trailer!

Alright as soon as I saw this I knew I just had to post this ASAP! The release date of SF4 has been announced! So without further ado:
We finally have a release date! Street Fighter IV will be released in the United States on February 17, 2009! The game will be coming to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

European gamers will have to wait an additional 3 days to get the game on February 20th.

As we reported, the game is definitely coming out "this winter", but we just wish Capcom made it the beginning of winter. This does give us time to finish all of our other games, though.

Also, be sure to read our hands-on report with the Japanese arcade version from Tokyo Game Show 2008.

Also to whet your appetite here's a gameplay trailer of Gouken, Ryu and Ken's master. Check this guy out! He does the shin-shoryuken, one handed chargeable hadoukens... this guy is crazy!

What's up with SF2 HD remix and Seth Gameplay

Hey remember that Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD remix that was supposed to come out this year? I know I've been waiting. Well, it seems Capcom is finally saying something about what's going on with that.
We've been waiting a long time now for Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, which should be released for Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network at some point, but the game has been delayed and Capcom hasn't said much... until now.

According to Christian Svensson, Capcom's Vice President of Strategic Planning & Business Development, "SCEA and MS can turn things around in 5-7 days most times. SCEE is closer to two weeks but they have a system where you can see the progress and bugs as they're testing."

When they find bugs, it takes Capcom about five to six days to address the issues and resubmit the code to Sony and Microsoft. Rinse and repeat.

At first glance this seems like a tedious process, but one should realize that retail games go through or at least should go through a strict review process. We'd rather have quality downloadable releases over buggy, rushed versions.

What do you prefer? Games you can play now and get fixed with patches or games that are as close to perfect as possible when they are released?

Also gameplay footage of the boss of Street Fighter 4 Seth. Seems he has similar moves to the other fighters like the shoryuken (or perhaps it's the Tiger blow) and Zangief's spinning pile driver. He also has this one strange super... Well, just see it for yourself.

Street Fighter 4 anime on the way

Remember those Street Fighter clips I lead you too earlier? Well, turns out they're apart of an upcoming film! Here's the details:

There hasn't been a damn good Street Fighter anime film that can measure up to the one released in Japan back in 1994. We're talking about the Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie--the one that opens up on the oh-so-awesome fighting scene between Ryu and Sagat in the thundering grass fields.

Thankfully, we have another contender to look forward to: Producer Yoshinori Ono announced during last week's Tokyo Game Show that a full-length Street Fighter IV anime film is currently being produced. The studio behind it is Studio 4C, the folks behind the promo videos. Ono introduced a teaser clip during last week's event, and GameSpot gave out the following details:

The three-minute clip of the upcoming film showed:

"...Scenes with Cammy walking through the woods with a group of troops, Ryu awakening to his dark side, Sakura and Chun-Li fighting together against a gang of thugs, and Crimson Viper fighting against Ryu."

Ono said that the film should run around 50 to 60 minutes, with renowned artists producing. People like Animatrix artist Koji Morimoto and Jirou Kanai, who worked on Steamboy. We're looking forward to this way more than that other movie...definitely. Oh and, just like the "other" one, Ono plans to release the anime film simultaneously with the game's console debut.

Street Fighter IV, the video game, is due out in the first quarter of 2009 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC platforms.
