Darn - I'm still not getting into the top four pictures of the day! *sigh* I think I must be doing something wrong. I'm not one to really complain, but I used to get 14 or 15 hugs/comments a picture - now I'm lucky if I get four. Zetzubo deshita! I'm in despiar!
First Animation Class
So I had my first animation class today (Intro) and it was uber spectacular. I learned a bunch of terms and the teacher is amazingly cool. I couldn't stop grinning because I was just too excited to get going on this stuff! We already have our first assignment - it's to create a flipbook about anything (only about 50 to 100 pages) so that we can learn how to use the motion camera. Our next assignment will be to make a walk cycle for a character. I'm so psyched about this flipbook, but Iunno what to do yet. Anyone have any suggestions to throw out there?
And even though I'm already loaded with homework, I just drew the main character to a video game my roomie plays (Samm is soooo sweet and nice. I really like her.) and it has a crapload of detail! Surprisingly, it went by really fast! Coloring is going to take forever though, but all well. I
Back to Skoo[l]
I'm finally done unpacking almost everything (one more box waits for me in the morning). For those who don't know - I'm a Sophomore at Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Minneapolis is a long way from Milwaukee. I can't even begin to describe how homesick I am already. I know this is the right path for both my schooling and career, but I love my family (and friends) deeply. I've taken care of my sisters (and my dad, in a way) for the longest time and without them I just don't know what to do with myself. It's too quiet and it's unbearably lonely here. I'm going to try to make some more friends this year, but if I don't I'm going to just immerse myself with work constantly and try not to think about absolutely anything.
Here's my schedule this year:
Monday:
History of Animation 9:30-12:00
Drawing II 1:00-6:00
Tuesday: Free
Wednesday:
Intro to Animation: 1:00-6:00
Thursday:
Ideation and Processing: 1:00-6:00
Friday:
Sophomore Seminar: 9:00-10:30
Foundation Media II: 1:00-6:00
That's a helluva lot of work >
Nobody Knows
Jesus, I just watched the saddest movie in existence. I honestly can't think of any other movie that makes me feel as horrible and hurt as this one did. I really recommend it. It's called 'Nobody Knows' and yes, it is a Japanese movie (with subtitles). A brief summary, you say?
A mother has four children - all with different fathers and all are unregistered. The oldest is a boy named Akira at the age of 12, Kyoko (girl 7), Shigure (boy 3), and Yuki (girl 2) follow behind. All of them cannot go to school and the youngest three can't even leave the apartment. Nobody knows of the children's existence. One day the mother leaves 5,000 yen (about $350 USD back then) and abandons the children to live on their own.

It's unbelievable. What makes it worse is that it's based on a true story - and the true story is more gut-wrenching than the movie is!

What's horrifying is that the mother is given the two youngest kids back after she serves only THREE years in prison!
*Sigh* Anyway, I've got more to update on, but this is on my mind now and I wanted to share with you the fantastic (yet terrible) film I just watched! Honestly, you should watch it.
