(For Wayward Warrior's challenge)

It all started in the summer of 2010, late in the month of June. No one knows why it happened, but what little information that has been collected tells not even half the story. What follows is a dramatization that is believed to best depict this tragic event.

The week started out like any other. Adam had been up all night trolling the chat rooms; coffee had replaced his blood long ago. The hum of Section 9, the main Otaku server otherwise known as Adam’s basement, was like white noise to him. There was a plan to change the server to the set up on the other side of Section 9, but it seemed like a hassle so Adam let sleep finally take him.

No one knows just how long he slept, but records show that he was capable of sleeping for days. Sadly, to his misfortune, Adam was awakened by a large explosion not three hours into his favorite dream land. With almost superhuman reflexes, he was out of his bed and down the stairs ready to take on the offender.

The horror that awaited him was one that even he feared. Standing at almost 6’ 5”, dressed in a deep red full body costume, a velvet cap oddly flowing behind him, his eyes a void like black, there was no mistaking the monster. He has no name, no long winded monologue; the only thing people know is that he’s always lurking in the shadows, waiting for his chance to strike. We’ve all seen his work: the massive grammar and spelling errors, the trite plots making the same pairing with an ungodly passion, the uncreative story lines that make the latest Twilight movie look like a masterpiece.

“I hear you are changing servers,” the monster’s voice resounded with the passion of a thousand anons, “I don’t think I can allow it.” He sneered at Adam, “You still haven’t published any of my submissions.”

Adam held his ground as a gale force wind struck, “What was there to publish?” he roared over the wind, “The people of this site are more refined than your lemon fiction!”

The monster screeched; the fangirl intensity causing unspeakable pain to Adam’s ears. The noise was overwhelming, there was no way Adam could stop himself from passing out.

When he finally awoke, the carnage that greeted him was beyond revolting. Section 9 was in shambles. Sparks lit the dark basement. Adam staggered to his feet, the scattered dry wall crunching as he went about trying to salvage what he could.

There was a dim hope that the new server could, once online, recover the loss. But it soon turned out that the monster left no stone unturned. Once the new server started, a blasphemous amount of bugs reared their ugly head. But that wasn’t the worst of it.

The precious Fanwords were gone. All the stories, essays, guide, all the hearts of theOtaku’s writers were gone. The monster had even taken the backups as well.
