Fatal Love

Well, this is a kinda...strange topic for me to be writing about. But here it is! Hope you like it ^_^ It's just about a coupla randoms without names.

“You know, I will only run after you so far,” she breathed quietly, tugging on her fingers agitatedly. He laughed slightly. “I know. But I just want to see how far you will run.” She nodded, and whispered, “I get the feeling that I could run forever, and it would never be far enough for you.” He shook his head. “Maybe so. Maybe not though. Would you take that chance for me?” She shrugged, lost completely in his eyes. “Who knows?” She couldn’t believe she had said that. “…” He didn’t know what to say; as it turns out, he didn’t need to say anything. “Do you ever feel like the lines you’re saying deserve to be in the cheesiest romantic film – and that when you trust the person spouting them back to you for that split second, you believe that you really will get your happy ending?” She fought back the tears as she spoke quietly. “Whoever said you wouldn’t?” And then he kissed her. More passionately than she even believed possible.

When they broke away, she couldn’t help the tears streaming down her face. He took her face in his hands gently. “What’s the matter?” His voice was low and calming. “It’s just…I can’t be…We won’t work. We can’t be perfect, we won’t last. I know we won’t, so…what’s the point in letting myself get hurt? I…” She shook her head fiercely, “I won’t do it. I can’t willingly harm myself.” He rested his hands on her shoulders and gazed into her midnight blue eyes. “I can’t convince you, can I?” She looked down at the floor in a futile attempt to avoid his piercing gaze, and shook her head again. He sighed, and stepped back. “What if I was to run after you forever? What if I was to tell you that I love you more than I thought I could love anyone, but I was scared of hurting you? That’s why I’ve been a little…distant around you.” His words comforted her, and yet terrified her at the same time.

“A love from someone like me would be twisted and cruel,” he continued, “and I was scared that someday it would crush you. I need you to live – without you I would have no reason to wake up in the morning! And yet, I feared that if you found that out, you might think me…weak. Maybe I am weak. But if I let you go…that would make me even weaker. Perhaps if I were strong enough to make you stay, then…Then I could prove myself to you.” The girl said nothing, but finally dragged her gaze from the floor back up to his face. She mentally traced his features, drinking him in hungrily as though he may just disappear; suddenly fade away.

“I love you,” he finished. She opened her mouth to speak, but the words caught in her throat. Instead, she closed her mouth again and nodded, smiling slightly. He raised his eyebrows questioningly and copied her tight nods, teasing her gently. She laughed openly, and threw herself into his tight embrace. He wove his hands through her hair; ran them down the curve of her back; knotted them into hers. Her arms clung onto his warm body strongly, and she breathed in his familiar scent happily. “So,” he said breathlessly, pushing back gently. “Do you think you could handle my…selfish love?”

She sighed deeply. “Do you think you could handle mine?” she breathed. He blinked at her in mild confusion. “I…I love you too. But there is so much that you don’t know about me…Barely any of it is good, and tonnes of it is bad…I’m scared that if you found out…you would hate me. And in that case, it would be better for both of us if we…walked away now.” He played with her hands gently. “I would take anything you threw at me gladly. I could never hate you when I love you with this much conviction now. We can deal with the future together…just let me love you now.” Finally, she was comforted, and fell willingly into the collision of his kiss. She was lost; he was lost. But they were together, which is much more comfortable than being lost alone.
