The Old Bank Cafe Bar - Matlock Bath

We (Myself, my fiance, my mother and her partner.) visited the Old Bank after visiting a few times before and were surprised to see different people working there to who we were usually used to. After shaking this off, we hoped that not much else had changed and felt instantly doomed as we sat down and looked at the menu. The prices had shot way, way up. Yet again, we shook it off. After all, when one is hungry, one tends to be more easy going. It took at least 10 minutes to get served, but it was by a little girl! We couldn't believe our eyes! I'm all for family helping out, but to make a child do a grown up job in a licensed cafe/bar? That's a bit much. The worst part is, she was being told off quite harshly for not getting an order right. Come on people... That screams unprofessional.

Yet again, after much eye-rolling, we waited for our food. What happened? It took half an hour. We asked where it was and the (What seemed to be) manager was too busy trying to chat to a woman with a little girl and making sure they were OK. We were virtually ignored. After we finally got his attention, he made no attempts to hide his frustrations with us, even though we stayed as polite as possible and even (Literally!) threw the plates onto our tables when our food was done and stormed off into the back room. A while later, he returned and took a business call right in front of customers, discussing trade and such and, yet again, ignored us after he had finished. When we left, he didn't even say goodbye.

This is one establishment that I will not be returning to in a hurry. All I can say is, I expect it to have improved by the time I visit for my next review.
