As they were passing by Joanne’s Plushy Store, the two had seen Jessenia and her buddies by the stuffed animal aisle. Both of them started to creep away. Then, after seeing Jessenia look up, the two took off and headed straight for the parking lot.
“Hey who was that?” Jessenia asked.
“I’m not sure. I don’t exactly know,” Marissa, a friend of Jessenia said.
“Neither do I. Hey…” Jessenia thought, “Blonde hair girl and a brown hair guy…were they Jack and Megumi????”
“Maybe. Or maybe you’re just imagining things,” her other friend, Naoko said.
“I wish it was them! Maybe it is!” Jessenia said and started pulling out her cell phone while running, “Let’s go!”
“Wait up! I’m not done with this plushy yet!” Marissa laughed and put the stuffed animal down.
All three of the friends dashed into the parking lot as Jessenia dialed furiously onto the phone. She pushed the buttons quick and hoped to meet up with Megumi and Jack.
“Hello?” Megumi said, picking up her cell phone.
“Megumi!” Jessenia said, on the other side of the parking lot, talking on the phone and not sure where her boyfriend and his sister were.
“Hey, what’s up girl?” Megumi said, starting to drive her car out of the parking lot.
“Not much. Where you at?” Jessenia asked.
“Um, I’m just outside of the base,” Megumi said.
“Are you sure?! Dude I think I saw you here,” Jessenia said, bouncing up and down, “Are you sure you weren’t here in the store parking lot?”
“No, I’m pretty sure I am not,” Megumi said, lying to cover for her and her brother, “You sure sound excited.”
“I always am excited. I wonder who that blonde hair girl and that guy were. I really wonder who that chick was because she kinda looked like you,” Jessenia said and bobbed her head like a child.
“Well I’m not sure. Maybe she’s Anna Kournikova or something,” Megumi laughed and joked.
“ANNA KOURNIKOVA? FOR REAL?” Jessenia asked then calmed down, “Dang girl, you and your jokes.”
“Heh heh, you know me. Well I gotta go, later!” Megumi said and kept driving.
“Bye!” Jessenia said and dialed Jack’s number.
He was in the passenger seat of Megumi’s car and heard his phone ring. So, he picked it up and Megumi kept as silent as she could.
“Hey sweetheart,” Jack said.
“Hey honey! Where are you? I could have sworn I saw you in the parking lot of Joanne’s plushies!!!” Jessenia yelled.
“Nah, I wasn’t there. I’m in my own car, driving around town,” Jack said.
“Oh, where?” Jessenia bounced up and down again.
“No place in particular. Probably going to head to Myan’s Bookstore or something,” Jack replied.
“Oh!!!! Can I see you there?!” Jessenia asked.
He froze in shock and did not want to see his girlfriend yet; he was still too nervous and wanted time to prepare a surprise for her, “Uh not really, sorry babe. I got to just drop off a payment for a book, is all. Then I gotta run and take care of some errands.”
“Awww babe,” Jessenia said, “I wanna see you…”
“Babe…” he said and suddenly became nervous, “You will. We will see each other tonight. I swear.”
“You sure? You sound as nervous as someone who forgot stuff for his girlfriend!” Jessenia laughed.
“Uhhh I’m fine, sweetheart. Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten you. Listen I gotta put my full attention to the road, so I gotta go. See ya!” Jack said.
“Love ya! See you!” Jessenia replied.
Meanwhile, in Megumi’s car, Jack wiped some sweat off of his brow as the drive went on. His nervousness was gone, for now.
“You okay, Jack?” Megumi said and layed her hand on his shoulder.
He nodded and breathed a breath of relief. Megumi handed him a tissue and he used it to wipe the rest of his sweat off. The guy was scared that his plans were being exposed.
His sister continued to drive and checked on him as much as she could. He started to sing weird songs about dancing and forgetting. Anxiety was slowly returning.
“Jack, relax. You’re gonna be just fine,” Megumi said.
“Are you sure? I look like I’m gonna puke,” Jack said.
“You’re fine, sweet bro. Don’t puke in my car.” Megumi said.
“I didn’t say I would puke. I just said I looked like I was going to puke,” Jack smiled.
“Smart Pants. Just be calm, man. Do what I do when I eat donuts. Stay calm and enjoy each second,” Megumi giggled.
“Haha. I have the silliest sister in the world,” Jack responded.
