Jessenia and Jack - Romantic Comedy

“Aw thanks sis,” Jack replied.

“You’re welcome. Anything for my brother and best friend,” Megumi replied.
They both started heading towards her car, getting ready to head to the store. The latter nodded back at her boyfriend and smiled.

“Gonna get going, girl?” Alex asked.

“Yes I am. Gotta help my bro. I’ll see you here later today, okay?” Megumi asked.

“Sure. Works out fine for me. Stay safe, honey,” he replied.

“I will. Love you!” Megumi grinned.

“Love you too cutie,” Alex beamed and waved.

She did the same and went into the car, a small sedan. Jack climbed in the passenger side and looked forward, hoping to really get a good present for his girlfriend. Sighing, he started to feel nervous.

“What’s up, bro?” Megumi said, seeing him feeling uncomfortable.

“Not much, just still worried,” Jack said.

“You’ll be fine bro, you’ll be fine. I know you’re nervous because you hate forgetting things and feel nervous when its near a big date, but you’ll be okay. Trust me okay, Jack?” Megumi put her hand on his head and played with his hair.

“I will,” he said and instantly felt his body calm down.

She always knew how to cheer him up. The two were soulmates and shared a strong bond. In fact, they were the only remaining members of their family. Thus, the connection between them was firm.

“Thanks sis,” he said to her.

“You’re very welcome,” Megumi replied.

“Hehe sis, I appreciate it. Oh and by the way your hair is a mess. I can’t believe you didn’t fix it this morning,” Jack said.

“What do you mean?” she responded.

Jack moved his hands toward her hair and messed it up, “That’s what I mean.”
“Dork,” she replied.

Megumi messed his hair back and pushed him playfully. He laughed and tried to hold her back. She pushed him against the car door softly and nodded.
“I win. Have fun bro,” she said.

“Yeah start driving, child,” Jack said.

She giggled and drove the car at a normal speed. Her brother sat back and close his eyes. Exhaustion overcame his body.

Megumi noticed, but decided to keep driving and let him be. His body leaned against the seat and moved rapidly on it. The dreams he was having were stressful and scary.

“Some monster is eating my cookies! NOO!” he talked in his sleep.
“You silly guy,” Megumi said.

She drove further and got close to the store. All of a sudden, Jack rolled over and slouched against her arm. He was having another silly dream and not able to handle it. His sister was shocked by the actions. Even worse, it caused her to nearly get into an accident.

“Jack! You nearly got me to hit some squirrel on a bicycle!” she said and widened her eyes, “Is it just me or is that squirrel being crazy?”
He did not hear her and moaned in his sleep, “Mommy, don’t take my cookies….those evil seagulls are coming….”

“Hey there,” Megumi said and shook him gently, “Jack, wake up please. You’re having a nightmare. Wake up dude. Wake up, man.”

He heard her and slowly opened his eyes, “NOOOOOOOOOO It’s the gremlin!!!”
“I am not a gremlin…” Megumi glared.

“Oh wait, you’re Jessenia right? Hey sweetheart!” He said, still not totally awake.

“No I’m not, I’m your sister, Megumi!” she blushed, shocked in embarrassment, “Bro!! You silly!”

“Huh? Oh sorry Megumi,” he said, “I’ve had some weird dreams about squirrels, seagulls, cookies, gremlins, elves, crackers, Paris going to prison, and Michael Jackson getting his fake nose operated on.”

She gave him a weird look, patted his back, stopped the car, and got out. Jack grinned childishly and stepped out of the car too. Both headed into the store.
“Bro, have you, besides today, been going through a lot of stress lately?” Megumi asked.

“Yeah, I actually have. I’ve been worried about my relationship with Jessenia,” he replied.

“Oh? Why?” She asked as he went to look at some jewelry.

“Because I feel like things aren’t the same. We used to hang out with each other a lot, but been busy lately. Now with both school and military responsibilities, we both have been stressed and kind of going at each other. I mean we’re happy today, sans me being stressed about getting her a present, but lately, we’ve been kinda distant,” he said and looked at a necklace.
Megumi smiled at the one he looked at and turned back to him with a huge smile, “Well, I’m sure you guys can work things out. I know the stress you both are going through. Just try to work things out. Also, be sure to take time to relax. Don’t forget, you can always have a few laughs with me.”
“I won’t forget. You’re as silly as a kid,” he said.

“Look who’s talking. Just do what you can,” she said and he picked another item.
