Kadashi's Spiritual Journey

Kadashi looked on with scared eyes. This was a reminder of the past he tried to run away from, the violence and the terror in Kyoto. Painful memories filled his mind and he stared on, sadly.

Next thing everyone knew, the guy punched Keiko on the face, hurting her. Kadashi’s sorrow, as a result, it turned into anger and hatred.

He thought about the vow he made and decided it was time to break it. The man spit on Keiko and was ready to hit her more. She grimaced and raised her fist.
All of a sudden, Kadashi grabbed a sword and ran toward the man, trying to stab and kill him. He thought that he couldn’t escape his past anymore. To him, turning back to the darkness was the only solution.

Keiko saw what was going on and screamed, “NOOOOO! I know this guy’s being angry, but killing and violence isn’t the answer!”

He didn’t listen and moved his sword closer. The man turned his head and saw he could not dodge. Fear came on his eyes and he begged for his life. Kadashi ignored him, narrowed his eyes, and prepared to slaughter the man.

“NO! STOP!” Keiko yelled, jumping off the ground and punching the side of the sword with her hand. She had meant to hit Kadashi’s hands but missed.

Seeing her hands bleeding, Kadashi went for the sword again, “I will kill you!”
Keiko rushed over and grabbed his arms. Kadashi struggled and Keiko tried knocking the sword away again, getting cut and hurt even more. By this time, the man was running off, fearing for his life. Though the guy had a sword, Kadashi’s eyes scared him.

“LET GO! I WILL DESTROY HIM!” Kadashi screamed.

“NO! LISTEN TO ME! YOUR DARKNESS IS DESTROYING YOU! LOOK AT YOU, LOOK AT ME, AND LOOK AT WHAT YOU’VE DONE TO YOURSELF! YOU’RE LETTING YOUR PAST GET TO YOU! LET GO OF IT AND TURN TO THE LIGHT, KADASHI! I WANT THE KADASHI THAT I KNOW BACK, THE SWEET AND CARING BOY WHO I LOVE!” she screamed, bleeding.

Kadashi widened his eyes and felt reality hit him. He dropped the sword and felt the light going into his heart, starting to destroy the darkness.

However, at the same time, he also felt pain, fear, and guilt. The teen then turned his head and looked at his friend. Her hands were bleeding. Though her wounds weren’t serious, it was a mess and her kimono was stained with blood.
“Keiko! I’m sooooooo sorry! I will never let my darkness take over myself again! I will never be violent again! I can never let myself be taken over again!”

He cried loudly with his tears falling onto Keiko’s wounds, washing away her blood. Suddenly, it began to rain, and, at the same time, something told him to look at Keiko’s face.

She looked at him with a look of forgiveness and gentleness. Even though she was getting soaked, a small smile came over her face, one that was destroying the darkness within her friend.

He smiled back a little bit, but began to cry even more, tears mixing in with the rain. Things were about to get better however.

“Do not worry anymore for everything’s going to be okay,” Keiko said, kissing his cheek.

Once that happened, light shined from the clouds onto her and Kadashi. Rain still poured, but the light came down slowly. Keiko’s wounds began to heal too.

Just then, two men on a horse carriage came by. With them was Kadashi’s mother. Then, the men jumped down. It was Kyo and Yuki.

“Well, well if it isn’t that punk Kadashi!” Kyo yelled.
Yuki screamed, “Let’s kill him!”

They charged, swords coming at Kadashi. This time though, Kadashi didn’t feel scared. All he felt was immense joy.

He stuck his hand forward and an explosion of light slammed into Kyo and Yuki, knocking out their darkness and evil. They passed out as well. The light grew stronger and Kadashi’s mother came out of the carriage, following it.

As that happened, Keiko’s family walked down the street. They followed the light and reached our two heroes.

Keiko and Kadashi smiled big, filled with immense joy and peace. Their families introduced each other and everyone talked for a while.

Everyone, except Kadashi and Keiko. The two stared into each other’s eyes and couldn’t stop looking. Finally, after what seemed like forty minutes but was only five, they kissed each other, feeling much love.

Everything else looked good from there. Kadashi would still have to regain some confidence and get over a little bit of pain but he was now in the light and joyful. Everything became all right.

The end.
