Furuba: Anime vs Manga

Looks like I haven't reviewed a manga in quite some time. so, here is one for you guys.

Now, I have not read all of the manga, but I have read past where the anime stops. This will be a comparison strictly of the anime, and the manga directly correlating to anime episodes.

First off, lets looks at overall plot. The books have it here. The manga uses the revoking of the curse as its climax near the end, while the anime, being very short, simply focuses on Kyos transformation, and Tohrus reaction to it. Also, the anime overplays the conflict between Yuki and Kyo so much, that you almost think Tohru is going to fall for Yuki several times before the end. The creepy head of household is hardly even more then a list of terrifying memories for the characters, and hardly plays an active role. They seem to stuff as many junishi in as possible without fully fleshing out the characters, wheres with the manga you get much more back story.

However, with the limited time they had, they do a pretty good job. The voice acting is excellent, and I really like that they take nearly every scene directly from the manga.

The manga however, being the inspiration for the anime, is, I think, what makes it great. The drawing is crisp and clean and the story is told in a very powerful (if slightly disorganized) way. However, since there are so many more characters in the manga, and the story is much more wide-reaching, I must say I prefer it. The manga is much more a look at how relationships work, and less like a pretty-boy fest. (Though what fangirl doesn't love a pretty boy?)

So, great anime, but have to say, manga wins.

Thanks for reading, and have a great, fangirly day! heh.
