Forsaken Scars ~ Chapter 9 ~ Ooops?
“Hey twerps!! Wait up!”
Alerick groaned. He hadn’t though “baby sitting” would be so difficult, especially seeing as one of them was meant to be a high levelled member of the centre. Yet regardless, the pair continued in their attempt to loose both Alerick and Eliot.
Swiping a stray strand of his scarlet hair, Alerick began to march after his sibling with an annoyed expression playing upon his face.
Eliot however preferred to wander behind the loud trio. For some reason he felt the scene nostalgic and smiled gently at memories which he believed to be more like pleasant dreams.
His golden eyes taking note of his surroundings, taking in every detail and memorizing it in case of future emergencies.
A vast area of dirt and the remains of a battlefield was the only thing in view. Scorched patched of land where fire would have once existed. Bloodied and rusted weaponry sprayed about the ground.
It was a cruel sight. And he felt the smile slip straight from his face as bitterness and sorrow spread throughout his body.
Blinking he lifted his gaze towards the sky.
It wasn’t clear, but pleasant regardless. A grey fog was emitted from the clouds as dusk approached, yet no stars were in view.
He was drawn back to reality by a startled cry…
“Ahh! Ty! You’re too far ahead! I can’t reach-”
CRASH!
As Ricky attempted to reach catch up with his friend the ground had begun to collapse. The two had been attempting to escape from Ricky’s brother when a jagged crack snaked along the sun-baked ground and caused the friends to be separated. Tyrone was forced back towards the forests edge they had been headed to whilst Ricky nearly ran right down the hole.
Feeling strong arms wrap around his waist, he was pulled back to solid ground by his brother.
“Ah! Al! We have to help Ty!” Ricky began struggling in his brothers arms hoping to slip between and head for his friend.
“Don’t be an idiot! If you run right now you’re gunna fall down the crack then SPLAT! You won’t be worrying about Ty I promise you now!”
“But-!”
“It’s okay!!” Tyrone shouted over. He couldn’t hear what they were saying but was close enough to see them arguing. He had shouted to them simply to get them to relax, but truthfully he was terrified. And was soon beginning to feel “the shakes” returning to his body.
Shivering he pulled himself further from the ledge and felt his legs go numb.
“Not good!” He hissed to himself.
After another long groan from the ground caused the three to back off from the edge, Eliot finally came into view.
Spotting the situation he began to pick up speed. But not before the ground gave way…
“AGH!”
Jerking up suddenly, Thomas yelled out in alarm.
Zouski having heard the yell from the kitchen came charging into the living room, weapon in hand.
Lowering his spear he gazed at his friend uncertainly.
“There’s no-one… here…”
Thomas sat up on the chair and breathed in deeply.
“Remember when I said it’d be great if they went for a while?”
“…Yeah?”
“Well… right now, I’m regretting those words…”
“RICKY! RICKY!” Tyrone hung himself over the newly created cliff-edge and screamed for his best friend.
Eliot stared shocked. As he had approached a huge chunk of the ground just gave way under the brothers. Taking the two down with it.
At first a typical person would have guessed Tyrone wouldn’t been the one to fall like that, but because he was so close to the forest, the tree’s roots had held that section of the ground together, ensuring Tyrone’s safety.
He began walking towards the flustered youth.
“Ricky! Ricky please! Answer me! Ricky!! …Alerick? Can’t you hear me?!”
“Ty…”
Looking up sharply he saw Eliot at the other side of the now large hole.
“Eliot…” He looked ready to cry.
“Are you alright?”
Tyrone simply nodded in reply, and stared hopelessly down the gap.
“If we’re gunna help them, we’re going to have to meet up first in the forest, seeing as it cracks all the way along I’ll have to enter it from here. Will you be able to meet me about-”
“I can’t”
“…What?”
“I can’t do that”
“Why…?”
“I can’t feel my legs… and my hands are going numb now as well…”
Eliot gazed at him, remembering his situation with the recent attacks, he felt pity towards his younger companion.
“Alright… then I’ll come round to meet you”
“Ah! Wa-wait!”
“…What’s wrong?”
“Don’t go… I don’t wonna be on my own…”
“Ty I’m-”
“Please! I really, really don’t want to be alone right now!”
Eliot could hear the shaking in Tyrone’s voice and considered other ways to reach his distressed friend.
“He’ll probably have a panic attack on me if I go into the forest so that’s not good right now. We’re in the middle of a valley so I can’t go the other way without him loosing sight either, so that’s also a no. *sigh* guess I’ll have to climb across” He murmured under his breath.
“Ok! Ty? I’m gunna climb across to get to you, I need you to be calm okay? Don’t start getting all nervous, or anything like that because you’ll put me off… ok?”
Tyrone nodded. His eyes had widened at what the other had said, his mouth had parted slightly in an attempt to reply normally, but his voice failed him.
He wanted to wrap his arms around his body for some sort of comfort, after all, he wasn’t cold - far from it, but his body refused to stop shaking.
Biting his lip, he continued to stare after Eliot, and hoped he didn’t fall down too.
Lowering himself, Eliot slipped partly down the side and began to work his way along the edge towards his friend.
The cliff itself wasn’t difficult to cross as it didn’t crumble. The only pain was the distance he had to travel.
Nearing the other side, he knew he wouldn’t be able to ask Tyrone to help him up - he hadn’t blinked since Eliot had lowered himself down, and so he reached up himself, and began to hoist himself upwards.
Letting his body flop on solid ground for a moment, he lay there panting, then slowly recomposed his breathing pattern.
Gazing at the youth beside him he frowned. Tyrone still hadn’t reacted.
Propping himself up, he finally reached the other a placed his palm on the others cheek.
Dropping the others’ head gently to the crook of his neck he sighed gently.
“At least you tried to fight it…”

Like a Salamander;
"Okay, now imagine it backwards. You've just been increadibly hot, then you go suddenly cold. And considering we're in a desert-like place, not at home, times that coldness by ten. Also bear this in mind - theres no saying we're gunna find any source of heat right now. Then what? ...Trust me. It's gunna get cold."
