Burn them off!

Howdy Everyone,

It has been a while since I updated my truck project progression. Well I have some good news for y'all.

The manifolds are finally off and I am ready to start installing the new exhaust system. I borrowed my neighbor's Ox-Astoline cutting torch and cut/melted the top portion of the remaining studs. Worked really nicely and all but had some slight accidental fire damage to other systems.

The torch was not working correctly and was having trouble getting the flame to shorten while become a hotter and more focused flame. So while trying to get the last stud out I turned the torch and hit an electrical plug. Thankfully the only damage was to the wire coating and the wires are okay.

Some damage was caused by pieces of molten metal and gasket falling on to the protective boot covering the U-joint on the axle. So I had to go and get a new one and new studs for the headers. Total cost came to $72 for the replacement parts. The new boot is blue and makes me think I will need a second one to make the front end not look strange with a black and blue one. But that will be determine after the construction is complete.

Ordered and picked up most of the parts today after work and the other bolts to secure the headers will be available for pick up after work. So the reconstruction shall be begin this weekend.

More pictures shall be coming on here soon.

Have a good day / night everyone!
