Flora looked up nervously hearing thunder, Lloyd and Colette smiled reassuringly at her. The lights flickered as more people walked into the small Flanior Inn.
“Flora, calm down. You’ll only freak out more if you don’t.” Caleb said, looking at his little sister.
She looked at him harshly before she ran off to another room. Colette got up to follow her but Lloyd grabbed her hand.
“Stay here.”
She watched has Flora disappeared into one of the back rooms, she sighed and sat back down next to Lloyd.
“You know what’s going to happen if the lights go out.”
Lloyd nodded. “Yeah, I know but it is going to happen regardless if she is here with us or in her own room.”
Raine blinked looking at Lloyd as he finished the sentence. Again the lights flickered, almost going out. The next moment the lights went out, Flora screamed loudly falling onto the ground. Kratos sighed looking around waiting for his eyes to adjust to the faded light. Flora stumbled from the room tripping over her own boots falling onto the ground near Kratos’ feet.
“Flora, it’s okay don’t panic, you’re right at Kratos.” Caleb whispered trying to calm his clearly terrified sister.
She pushed herself up off the ground tears streaming from her eyes. Kratos lowered his hand for her to take sensing her fear.
“Flora take my hand.” Kratos calmly whispered.
She reached forward grasping his hand in her own. Kratos pulled her up into his arms, she grasped his shirt in her hands tightly. It was no secret that Flora and Kratos cared for one another, this only made everyone believe they were meant to be with one another.
“It’s alright Flora, you’re safe.” Kratos whispered into her ear as he began to slide his fingers through her hair. Caleb looked at Sheena they both sighed. Soon candles were lighting the inn as the storm only seemed to get worse in force.
“Kratos…” Flora mumbled barely above a whisper.
He looked down at her, and began to slide his fingers through her hair.
“Flora, why are you afraid?” Kratos asked.
She buried her face in his chest tears swelling in her eyes again, Kratos looked at Caleb for an explaination.
“I cannot say why my sister is afraid of the dark, I think it happened after she and mom were taken away.”
Kratos sighed and continued to stroke his fingers through Flora’s hair. She rested her cheek on his shoulder, staring up at him. He kissed her lightly, as he interlocked their fingers. A smile crossed Flora’s lips as she kissed him back.
“Flora, you have no need to fear the dark, I will always keep you safe. I will protect you from anything you’re afraid of. I promise.”
She smiled hugging him fiercely.
“ I love you.”
Kratos smiled alittle returning the hug.
“I love you too.”
Flora rested her head on Kratos’ shoulder once again, yawning lowly. Kratos grabbed a blanket from next to him and wrapped it around Flora.
“Sleep, I’ll keep you safe .” Kratos whispered before he pressed a kiss on Flora’s forehead.
She smiled lightly closing her eyes, soon drifting off into a blissful sleep.
