"Notion" - Kings of Leon
Author's note: This will be a short chapter. It was sunny outside the day I wrote, I still remember. I didn't go to work that day because I woke up sick. When I woke up I had nothing to do but write. It was the only thing that made that "about to vomit" feeling go away. I got tired of researching for the story and decided to just quit and go back to bed. I edited some of it but I could've missed some. Whatever. Enjoy or something. The next few chapters are getting grittier. I don't know if I'll continue posting on a place like Otaku. We do have minors here.

CHAPTER TWO: Nicki Boy
CHAPTER THREE: Russian Red
All of us were anxious to see this hot item. It had already taken control of a majority of the countries east of Europe and was slowly, but surely, creeping it's way into our back yard. For those of us in the States and throughout the UK and France that knew of the item, it was simply called "Russian Red" because of it's distinct red colour and the place of origin. The three of us, Cam, Mojo, and I, crowded onto the futon in prep for the show, while Nicki worked with steady and careful movements to retreive the item. From a small yellow envelope he pulled out a little silver canister about the size of a one ounce sample of Nivea Creme decorated with red tribal design around the outer edges of the lid and a red lilly imprinted on top. I laughed at its quiant little packaging but was immediately silenced by Nicki's stern gaze. Opening the canister, all of us leaned forward on the futon trying to get a better look.
"That's it?" Cam asked incredulously.
The canister held a sort of gellatinous looking ointment the colour of the richest red you could possibly imagine. Unsatisfied with the view, we all stood up to examine the contents. A sort of pungent, sweet odor emanated from the open can. It smelled almost like lillies on a scorching day but not quite. I guessed this probably explained why they chose that particular symbol for the cover. Cam reached for the can to inspect it closer and made a face when he inhaled the scent.
"You're not supposed to inhale this, Cameron."
"Why so little of it?" He asked, handing back the can and rubbing his nose like he was trying to scrape the scent out.
"This is a concentrated amount. If I'm able to distill it and blend it with a variety of other chemicals, I can create enough to last us the month."
"How're are you going to do that? And what the hell is it made of?" Mojo asked after inspecting the substance as well and passing the can to me. I stared into the ruby red and nearly caught a glimmer of my own reflection in the goo before the overwhelming scent forced me to give it back to Nicki. He took the can with the utmost care, like he was holding a newborn kitten, put the lid back on, and placed the canister on the desk before us. After doing so, he began to pace back and forth, like a teacher in front of a chalkboard. I so wished Mojo hadn't asked that. I could see we were in for quite a chemistry lesson.
"This," he said, gesturing towards the can on the desk, "is some of Russia's finest export. It is a mixture of all natural Lycoris radiata, in other words, Red Spider Lily extract, a flower native to China. A chemical known as galantamine is extracted from the Red Spider Lily's bulb and used in meds to help people who suffer from insomnia, Alzheimer's, ADHD, some anxiety disorders. I guess you could sort of say that this product here," collecting the canister, "is a mild sedative. Only, of course, if it's made and administered in the proper dosage. If used improperly it can cause nasty little side effects like nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. I'll have to run a few tests to figure out how much of the chemical is actually in here and that'll probably take a few days... It's usually colourless so I'll have to see how much of it is food colouring or whatever other chemical it might have in it that made this red colour. It's caused paranoia and maniacal episodes in some users, I've heard... perhaps there's a smidge of acid in it too..." Nicki was now placing full attention on the canister. Inspecting the outside of it like it was a peice of a wrecked space ship.
"Can we speed this up Professor, you're starting to sound like an infomercial." I said, interrupting Nicki's reverie.
"Will you be able to do it?" Cam asked, concerned.
Nico thought for a minute before he answered, "I can try to do it within a time limit but there's no gaurantee that I'll have it made and ready for sell by the end of this month."
I watched as Cam's face fell. His eyebrows scrunched together on his forehead like they do when he's trying to figure an exit plan.
"How soon do they want it?" Nicki asked.
"They want it gone by the end of this month. Two weeks to test and make it. If it's good, seven to ten days to sell. They'll be back by mid next month."
"Like I said, I can try but there's no gaurantee that I'll have it ready."
Mojo and I watched this exchange with a sort of eagerness. I could practically feel the excitement growing in Mojo as he stood next to me; it nearly cut off the air supply. I almost wanted to burst out laughing at it. For us, Mojo and I, who hardly handled the business aspect, it was action that kept us tip-top. Mojo was muscle, I was skill. Together, with Nicki as the brain, and Cam the street savvy, we made the perfect combination. I could feel my slim, little fingers itching for the metal and carbine.
I'd guessed it right earlier. This was definitely going to be exciting.
