Chapter One Teaser-Like Thing

Kingdom Hearts: The Calamitous Destiny

Two brothers, both walk separate paths
One mixed, one true.
Both separated from the other,
The brothers rend in two.

Each gifted with a single task,
Each trusted with a boon.
One steps up to meet his task,
While one falls to his doom.

Two brothers, both walk separate paths,
A heavy weight each has borne.
At last, by Light and Darkness cast aloft,
Are Dreamtide oaths resworn.

Both are ripped from home and friend,
Both by fate beguiled...
What ever outcome this stands true,
Two brothers will be reconciled...

Chapter One: "Cecil"

Darkness.
It fed him. Fueled him. Made him stronger. Faster. Smarter.
It was what kept him alive.
He could feel it flow in and out every pore of his body. He drank it in; basked in it; let it consume him... if only for awhile. It was not often he was alone, not often he had a chance to relish it... the feelings that came each time he stood alone on a battlefield after it was all over...
Heartsssssss.... Heartsssss......
He looked up to see them, those black monsters called Heartless surrounding his feet. Shadows, PrueBloods. No Emblem to differentiate them. This creature had no heart to offer... it was simply there, an ever present darkness, much like him. Darkness... poor creature... it was only doing what its instincts told it... It was a shame that they had to die...
Give usssss... Give usssss... Heartssssssss....!
"I have no hearts to give," he explained, as if they were sentient, as if they could grasp what he was saying.
Heartsssss.... Feed usssssss....
He could feel it again, that longing... ", Hearts."
Yesss.... Give usssss... Hearts....
"... Hearts," he muttered, a cruel shivering racking his spine, taking him by surprise and nearly causing him to fall to the ground.
"Cecil?!" he heard someone call, the voice echoing up and down the blue cliffs.
The man in question spun on his heel, the feeling deep within him momentarily banished as he turned to face the young man running towards him.
"Riku?"
"What are you doing, Cecil?!" the boy demanded, staring up at the older man through his silver bangs. "Why do you always wander off?! Do you want to end up like you were when we found you?!"
"... I'm sorry... I just... there were Heartless...," he stammered, and Riku sighed.
"When are you going to learn, huh, Cecil? It doesn't matter what we do, there'll always be Heartless," Riku brushed his hair out of his eyes, staring poignantly at Cecil. "You can't possibly defeat them all."
"... But..."
