Introducing: Zuko

So recently I made 2 wallpapers on Zuko from Avatar: the Last Airbender. One of them sucked, and one didn't. And here they are:

This wallpaper looked good in my head, then I lost it halfway through and came out crappy. I don't know what happened. Not much to say about it either, except that it was a huge disappointment.

This wallpaper is my entry for the Whose Your Favorite Character? wallpaper challenge.

The design for this one popped into my mind about halfway through making the other one. Actually, the way I had planned it was completely different than the wallpaper you see right now, but I couldn't find any pictures that fit. So I looked at what I could find, adjusted accordingly, and it came out pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. At any rate, it's loads better than any of my recent walls.

Now, when I said "adjusted accordingly" in the previous paragraph, what I really mean was that [RANT] I looked at all the crappy pics Google Images had to offer, moved on to Anime-Galleries, exhausted Photobucket, and cursed a lot because after looking through thousands of pictures, there was not a single decent one of Zuko or a dragon, never mind both of them together.

So then I went through my illegally downloaded episodes of Avatar in all their low-res glory, and found a not-so-fitting image that I could use. Only, the screencap was just as crappy as all the images online, and that's when I realized I'd have to vector it myself. I've only ever vectored 2 images before, and I had had good reference pictures then, and the lighting hadn't been screwy, so I really had no idea what I was getting myself into.

Here's something I learned: Vectoring for a day = fun. Vectoring for 2 days = not so fun. Vectoring for 4 days straight = bad for your health.

Towards the end, I pretty much just gave up. [/RANT]

There's not much else to say about this wall, except that it took me forever to decide on the background, and yes, the scrolls were a stroke of pure genius, and no, my signature is not in English. Why? Because Chinese characters are so much prettier than English words. And also because I hate putting my signature on wallpapers, but that's a story no one wants to hear. But if you look through my gallery, not a single one of my wallpapers has a signature on it. (steal them if you want, but I will catch you. Eventually.)

Quote of the Day - Artists can color the sky red because they know it's blue. Those of us who aren't artists must color things the way they really are or people might think we're stupid.
