It's a Long Way to Tipperary
The Journey to a BFA

Hello there, this is Katana, your friendly neighborhood eighteen-year-old hyperactive art student who somehow manages to have wit. Questions? Comments? Death threats? Put 'em in the guestbook! But bear in mind -
"It's a plot device. It's very flimsy, so be careful."

Hahaha, yeah that Kat will actually call you if you give her your number.

Coming down to the ground

Just a quick little update between me doing art homework. :D

I got my haircut yesterday. And I mean extreme haircut. Okay, not EXTREEEEME, but it's a lot different. No, I'm not keeping it this short - me and my hairdresser agreed to cut the shape and then let it grow out to fit the style I wanted.

My best description is "vigilante out to kick some ass".

OH YEAH AND I FOUND MY GOGGLES. THEY WERE IN A BATHROOM DRAWER. WUT. WHY. I DON'T KNOW.[/capslock]

You can raise welts like nobody else

As we dance to the Masochism Tango...

Okay, work in a half-hour. LET'S GO!

- Kastom arrives at Midway airport in four days and three hours.

- That means five days until Cinematic Titanic.

- But why am I not excited? Because I've got a crapload of work to do before then. Tonight is actual-work (you know, my job), then I have to tackle two art assignments, write a summary for English, take a quiz for Music (it's online), and do my Stats homework so that I'm ahead for Thursday. I won't feel anything until Wednesday afternoon.

- Two weeks of school down means I've got fourteen left to go. Sheesh, that seems like nothing.

- Yesterday I got my first session of training at the art building. It was just a basic rundown of the building and the function of each floor. When the boys came (due to class schedulings, we overlap for only one hour rather than two), we went out around the building. Then we learned that one of the labs has a 3D printing and we geeked.

- I've got a cold or a sinus infection or something. Sore throat, runny nose, but no fever (I hardly ever get fevers). I had a headache, but ate some cup noodles and felt so much better.

- I had a dream that 'gome was at NIU and we were roommates. It consisted largely of her playing the PS2 hooked up to my dinky TV while I sat on my bed with my laptop.

- Wow is my brain loopy. Thanks Robitussin!

I enjoy you Nikon

Just a random picture of a sign on the Holmes Student Center, which is right across the street from me.

So in case of a nuclear attack, I'm covered.

Also, I was browsing GraphJam earlier. I giggled at this one.

Guess Whose coming to ECC

Oh, my wit, it hurts.

When my mom asked if I wanted to go, I had the biggest freak out.

(Heading back to NIU; I should be back before 7pm.)

Week one

Fifteen weeks left in the semester.

So, well, uhhhhh...um, not much to report on. Well I mean, there is...Ugh. Uhhh...let's think.

Last post I had yet to go to Art 102. Well, now I have. And Art 100 < Art 102. It's a design-basics class, which I again start to squirm in because I know the stuff. Ah well! I really like it; the prof, Blaine, is a really cool guy. We drew up portfolios, though that really meant doodling all over sheets of paper. I'll try and take a picture of it next time I go to class.

Blaine let us out early, so I went to the Village Commons Bookstore to get my bigass art kit for Art 100. Well, I forgot my pin on my debit card. So I had to pay in cash. I luckily happened to have $96 on me, thanks to tip money. And then I was broke.

Well, fine, I had five dollars left.

So uhhh...yeah. Nothing terribly exciting, made a few more friends - Lindsey in Art 100 and 102, Jacki in Art 102...Which, Art 102...it really is a good time. The class is small, about fifteen or so, and yesterday we were just rolling and working off each other. It's so much fun.

I still doodled, though:

(L to R: Blaine, Lindsey, Kat) Because a 6-8:40 class is rough when you've been up since 8am. It still pales in comparison to this.

This morning, I went down to the art building around noon for a meeting on becoming a peer adviser. As it turns out, only me and two other people were selected for this - well, we three were the first-choice. There's Troy, who was Sculpture Man from the art meet-and-greet (not Dave), Don, who's in the marching band, and, well, me. I was described as the token female since Troy is a transfer and Don is also doing music while I...I'm not.

Basically, we were picked first because we "stood out" at orientation. We just sat there before I said "I don't remember doing anything out of the ordinary at orientation except being a spaz..."

So yeah! I've got a second job! :D

Anyways, not much else going on. Going home tomorrow for work, staying the night there, then coming back Sunday morning. Pwaaaah.
