Dear Nina,
Day One of Self Defense Class
We haven't been left alone in our house for a while. It was either our grandparents with us, our mom taking us out, or our whole family going somewhere. This week we stay home. Yay. Anyway, I woke up pretty early. Early enough to fall asleep and then having to wake up at 8:00 AM again. We watched Pokémon at that time. Just watching it reminds me of last summer. *sighs* Then I read Naruto until 10:00 AM, when we ate lunch. We also watched a movie while eating lunch. After that, I read more of Naruto until 3:30 and I got ready so our dad could take us out.
When he got home, we had to look for this remote. Then we left. We first went to the Public Library. Oh, I got ALOT of manga and books. Heh. And I even got Shugo Chara #1 again! I just love the style! And I even found out that you can check out magazines if you want to! COOL! I can check out Shojo Beat!. Then we went and ate at Pizza Hut! We had to rush because my dad said we had to be home by 6:00 PM. Mmmm! The pizza was good. Then when we got home, I recalled that my mom signed us up for "Self Defense". UGH! I don't like when she signs us up for something we don't want to do. Anyway, I had to rush and change into sweatpants. Then I hopped into the car and we drove there. Yeah my mom got lost at first, but we got there in the nick of time! And on the way there, I even read Death Note #7 even though I finished the Anime already.
So. When we got there, I was all nervous. I mean, I'm probably the the President of Shy Land (lame pun) :P. I'm serious. I managed enough courage to just stand. I have no idea what I was embarrassed and nervous about. I'm weird that way. Anyway, there were only 4 people, including me. So that's good. There were two boys, and two girls. There was a 13 year old boy (who I thought was like 11) and a my brother, a 7 year old. And a I think, 9 year old girl, and me. So, it was alright. But even as our instructor spoke, I was nervous and shaking. I was shaking even as he showed some positions. But as soon as we got out the equiptment and we started learning how to block attacks and strike when we need to, I started to forget about being nervous, and I was okay! It's always that way. Like at school, whenever I'm nervous about something, it ALWAYS goes away during P.E. Wonder why... Anyhoo! It's a good thing our instructor didn't ask me questions in the beginning, cause I was shaking like crazy. But when we started doing the dodges and stuff, I was first to do all of them, but I was okay with that by then. Then we got into a line and we hit the matress-pillow things. And I had a problem with keeping my thumbs out of my hand when making a fist. But whatever. Haha. I did okay. Then my dad came and he watched us for the last, like 5 minutes. I kind of felt bad for Kirby. Kirby was this like 20 year old who would help hold the guard-matress-pillow things while the instructor used him as an example. :P And then the other 13 year old boy, he was such a show-off! He kept trying to hit the guard thing hard. But you know what? He's not that bad. I guess he would be okay for a friend. Except that he wouldn't stop talking to me! Ugh. Oh! And did I tell you? I could barely stop laughing the whole time we were there. The 9 year old girl, she's so... weak. It's either that or she doesn't want to hurt Kirby. Heh. And my brother, always acting all strong at the house, and beating me up (well, then I kick him onto the ground and trip him then I win, with one kick). It was funny with him cause, he wasn't really good. He kept messing up, and had small kicks. And then our instructor, telling us stories about his childhood. And then I would mess up and do nothing but laugh about it. I don't know... it was just hilarious. I'm surprised I didn't get in trouble for laughing so much.
Then we finally left at 8:00 PM. And we went to Home Depot. My dad just wanted to look at the grills and lights. And while looking, my brother and I practiced our new moves! I feel so dumb right now, thinking about it. But it does seem weird that I am reading Naruto while learning Self Defense. My brother even did some Jutsu. And it's embarrassing because he even asked our instructor when we were going to use Ninjutsu. Is my brother... crazy? He reads too much Naruto, which is even weirder, cause he DOESN'T read Naruto. He's only seen 3 movies of it with me.
Anyway, when we got home, I opened my package from my Grandparents. It's so sweet of them! They gave my brother some Star Warz keychains, a stuffed animal, and a wallet with money. And I got a purse, a book, and a stuffed animal as well. But little did I know that inside the purse was more! I did't find out at first. But when I did, I opened it, and inside was perfume, a hairband, a headband, some bracelets, and a wallet with money in it. How much? I don't remember, but it's around the 40's. YAY!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, GRANDMA AND GRANDPA! Plus I still need to get my babysitting money, and my allowance for this week. WHOOT! Then I went upstairs to my bedroom and folded my clothes, then read. Then I went downstairs and read Shugo Chara in the Living Room. You know what? That really IS a good manga. And I'm going to continue on reading it even though I started reading it already like a year ago. Then I took a shower. And in between, I practiced my cool new moves! You know what? Every time my mom enters or signs us up for something, we never accept it, but we ALWAYS end up enjoying it. Weird. And I really did enjoy Self Defense today. Now there are only 3 more days of it. Can't wait until tomorrow!
