I know John Coltrane and jazz really don't have much in common with anime/manga but I wanted to see how many people would be interested in an art form that should be kept alive. Being around such artistic people on this site, I figured that you might not care for jazz to listen to, but you might at least appreciate it. And for those of you in the jazz loop I'd love to hear information about new artists I should check out.
Now before you just click the little X in the top right-hand corner, hear me out. This is not just a jazz place. I'm crazy about anime and manga, especially the Death Note series, and I won't attack you with my saxophone if you don't like jazz...so please don't run away from me just yet.
I'm one of those people who can't find a good manga unless someone recommends a series to me. So I would LOVE it if people would give me info about anime and manga that I should look at.
Well, anyway if your ears have not yet been tuned to the sound of jazz, I think you should listen to this clip. This is John Coltrane... a revolutionary.
This song is called Alabama, and I'd like you to,after you listen to this song, observe how it makes you feel.

The Inhuman, Humbling Speed of Eldar
This is Eldar. He plays piano...very, very fast. Eldar Djangirov, like Chris Potter on the tenor sax, is the kind of person that makes me want to throw myself out of a window. This is "Take the "A" Train". Really, really fast. Enjoy.
There's Always Next Year
Well I didn't make state jazz, but my friends Anna and Emma did! Anna made first chair alto, and emma made 3rd chair trombone, making them the first girls in the history of our school to make it into the state jazz ensemble. I'm very happy for them both, and what i have to try for now is the concert band competition that comes this December. The etudes are pretty difficult, but with enough practice hopefully i'll be able to pull through and still go to state with them. As of right now, my major scales are the main focus, although I don't think my sound is what they are looking for in the "legit" side of sax playing.

Jazz Band
Recently I tried out for the region jazz band in our school devision, and got second chair tenor . :) Now I'm just waiting for the results from my entry for state jazz(crossed fingers). If I make it I would be the first girl in our school to ever get into the state band. I'm rooting for my friend Anna, too. She made first chair alto in the region band, and her audition CD for state was pretty solid. All we can do now...is wait. forever. At least that's what it feels like, haha. Only about a month left....ugh.
Sincerely.
So I have recently come across a jazz pianist by the name of Eldar Djangirov through the XM 70 jazz satellite radio, and heard his song, "Sincerely". The CD is Eldar: Live at the Blue Note, so I just wanted to let you all know, so you can check it out.

wow...it's...been a while
It's been a long time since i've posted on my worlds. The last time that I believe I had written anything was right before the band New York trip, which was amazing. Seeing Phantom of the Opera was one of the most influential experiences in my life, besides the first time I heard a live tenor saxophone when I was in seventh grade.
And being in the largest Cathedral in the world(or the western hemisphere, I don't remember. I should probably check, haha.) was pretty awesome too, especially the part about being the first marching band to ever perform in it.
The sights and sounds of New York have forever inspired me, and definitely put me in a "New York state of mind."

This is a picture of a tenor sax player in central park that we heard playin'. I only wish we had asked him his name.
