About me: I am currently in a two year photography program and on my second year. My main passion of photography is to document life in a way that can help improve humanity and also to show the need of those less fortunate. It is my dream to someday become a photojournalist for the mission field. I will post about various frustrations and ramblings of my classes and work here. Feel free to visit below for various work of mine since I was about twelve.
SpoCon made it's debut last summer, August 2008. This year was slightly better but also five dollars more expensive. This convention is not focused on anime really but primarily on science fiction, fantasy and various other forms of fandom (Like anime)
The anime rooms played these anime:
.hack//ROOTS
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Claymore
Princess Princess
Gravitation
Hayate no Gotoku
Beck Mongolian Chop Squad
FF7: Advent Children
My Neighbor Totoro
Howls Moving Castle
Kiki's Delivery Service
The new Hellsing Ultimate
Shugo Chara
Clannad
Code Geass
Dominion Tank Police
Original animated Transformers Movie
Ouran High School Host Club
And many more....They didn't have checkers in the board game room :( A lot of people liked my Rikku costume but I didn't win anything but a participation prize in the masquerade contest. Some belly dancer dressed as the snow queen got the best of show. There was also a $60 man, Star wars dude as a doctor, a fairy and amazonian women (two women and one man decked out in a lot of furs and leather did a jig on stage)
I was so nervous. What I did was do the bomb thing that rikku does when she mixes items and threw it into the audience...danced a little and exited the stage on the wrong side. :( There is a reason I never did acting lol
I was bored a few times so I just chilled with some of the security guards some of the weekend. The raves were AWESOME....a lot better improvement from last year. Des, Shin, please help me by introducing me to a lot of anime so I can have a good selection next year. Also, Kat, Timechaser..I am trying to get a panel started about MST3K and also a MST3K showroom. There are ideas swimming around to riffing the new star wars movies. So I will need your advice in that. Thanks...
SpoCon was decent at least. We'll see how next year turns out...now I need to prepare for Otaku-Con tomorrow...
You know what that means. I FINISHED TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN!!! I am sure some of you may be thinking, "About Damn time!"
Thoughts and Reactions
I am too lazy to find out what I said about this anime so far. I watched the entire anime yesterday anyways so I will talk about it all.
When I first watched it forever ago, Kamina really annoyed me. I thought to myself, does he ever shut up? The second or third time I tried watching the series (I restarted because I forgot some details) I found that he really was an awesome guy. I have become a kamina fangirl ever since. This was brought to a very sad hault when he was killed in action. Why bother watching the rest I asked myself. It was either Ace or Shin who assured me that the anime is awesome keep watching.
SO HAPPY that I did. Anyways, when he died, I thought that simon was kind of bleh...not fun to watch. The take down of the spiral king though was made of win. Even though Kamina was gone, I really enjoyed the second half of the series. They transitioned into seven years of the future quite nicely.
Rosiu really pissed me off. I know that he was trying to do what was right. Going in the ship of the spiral king's was a major fail for him and made me grin. I can't believe he tried to kill himself!!!!! >_<
Yoko...A SCHOOL TEACHER??? I never saw that coming. Scaring the kids the way she did to make them behave made me laugh. Good ol' Yoko. <3 Also the rescue of viral and simon kicked a lot of ass.
Nia became an anti-spiral messenger and then disappeared at the very end? WTF! Why did Simon even save her if he knew she would disappear?
<3 Leron, Kittan, Kamina, Simon
Kittan died? POOR YOKO...not only did yoko lose kamina but she also lost kittan. D: The music playing of kittan's death was amazing. I was rocking out.I knew his mission was going to be a death wish.
Kamina is amazingly awesome, nuff said.
Finally, Simon. In the beginning I knew that the anime was going to be mostly about him. However that was clouded by kamina for quite a long time until his death later in the anime. They did well with transitioning Simon from a follower to a leader. That is hard to do at times and can be done rather choppy if not done carefully.
I really like Simon after the time skip occurred. He was no longer this short little kid who was afraid to do anything. At the end of the anime he was BADASS!!!!! I now understand that cosplayer at Acen. The guy with the funky glasses not like the other kaminas. It was actually Simon. Simon became so badass. Oh my gosh!!!!! -fangirl screams- I feel sad for Simon though. Nia disappeared and he became a hermit type person. (Perhaps like Kamina's father?)
What I find really amazing is how the anime kept Kamina in the anime even though he died. I mean obviously he is going to be in everyone's heart. However he got everyone out of that day dream. Seeing Kamina just made my jaw drop with joy...squealing in excitement...literally.
Oops, forgot Viral. I really like how he came out to be a pretty awesome ally. I was indifferent when he was against Dai Gurren but fell in love with him after the '180 degree turn.'
I just finished these two movies. Beverly Hills was very cute. It really reminded me of my boyfriend's dog and it was neat to say that I was in Beverly Hills.
As for the Death Note live action, I will have to say that I enjoyed the live action WAY more than the anime. The anime just seemed to drag on and on and on. That just gave me headaches. It was neat to see how they made Rem and Ryuk. <3 Ryuk. What I also found cool was how they used Red Hot Chili Peppers songs for the opening and closing credits too.
Anyways, if you haven't seen either movie you should check them out. I really enjoyed them. Oh, and never waste your money on the DragonQuest movie. It sucked so bad that I could not sit through the last fifty minutes of it. Eragon was better than this movie and that is saying a lot.
