Alright, so here we go. Ummm, my name's Jack. I'm what's called a student of fire. Basically, what that means is that I'm a part of one of the most secretive organizations in the world. So, let me tell you some straight facts now. One: We're at war with the students of ice. The students of ice are kind of like our archenemies. They're trying to take over all the worlds. That brings me to fact two: Your world isn't the only one. There's other dimensions filled with humans and such. Students of fire and ice can travel through them using portals, which are basically wormholes through the dimensions. It's really cool.
Since we're at war, we are of course looking for allies in the fight, and here's a list of our allies thus far:
Fire:
~Any Norse "god" and their allies/servants
~Any Greek "god" and their allies/servants except Ares and Hades
~Knights of the round table
~The tribe of the Iceiks and their allies
~The country of Herolade and Nameless, as well as their inhabitants, which include vampires, werewolves, deragons, etc.
~Anybody willing to help

Ice:
~The army of shadow and it's allies
~The former Norse "god" Loki, his allies/servants, and the Norse giant tribes
~The Greek "gods" Ares and Hades, as well as their allies /servants
~The Greek Titans and their allies/servants
~The former knight of the round table, Mordred, and his allies
~Any monster alive, formerly alive, dead, or formerly dead
~Any enemy of the countries of Herolade and Nameless, which include foreign powers, as well as criminals
~The Dimensional Jesters
~The army of Darkblood
~Any willing, able-bodied soldiers

Those lists are growing as we travel and ask for allies, but we have some serious numbers stacked against us. For example, the shadow army alone once took us on for twenty-six years straight, but with a different leader.
War aside, I'll be writing in this thing about what's happening from day to day. This should show you why you don't want to be one of us.
Oh yeah, but before I start, here's some brief biographies of my friends and my main enemies.
~Cade- My girlfriend, who's smart, beautiful, funny, and good at fighting monsters. All are good qualities. She can control water.
~Zander- My best friend. He saved me from Batholith when it attacked me at school during English class. He seems to be a bit of a slacker, but he's actually one of our best members. He can control electricity.
~Jared- He's one of the friends I made at boot camp. He's calm, and works well with Zander in a fight. He can control wind.
~Keleigh- A former student of ice that helped me out after the students of
ice's initial attack. She's kind of like a female version of me, people say, except she has a different background. She can control ice and snow.
~Grace- While I was basically a fugitive from the students of ice, I met her. She actually is good with first aid and stuff, and is actually one of my best partners in a fight. She can control earth.
~Mark- The student of fire who's in charge of our forces. He's a good leader, and is the kind of guy most people would rather get saved by instead of me. He can control wind.
~Jason/Granshad- He used to be a student of ice, but decided to take an artifact called the shadow eye. He replaced his left eye with it, and basically became immortal. Now he calls himself Granshad and is in charge of an army, and gets more powerful by the second. Since cutting off his head doesn't kill him (I've tried, but he just reattaches it) we have no clue how to beat him. He thinks he's god, which seems a little conceited to me.
~Batholith- The monster that made me come here. He attacked me in English class and awakened my fire powers. I can only seem to be able to find him while I'm busy fighting somebody like Jason, so I can't kill it.

Now that I've said all this, I'm done writing for the day.

January 15, 2010

I guess I just forgot to write for the last year. Sorry. I guess it was just general warfare for that time, I spent a few weeks in my old boot camp, Fort Druid. That's a big, icy wasteland of a world, and Loki was trying his best to kill us. But, ...

August 12, 2008 (Part 3)

It feels like I've only been asleep for a few minutes until Zander wakes me up. I'm immediately in a good mood. "What're you doing here so soon? I heard you were on a mission." "I was" He replied "But now I'm back." "Anybody else...

August 12, 2008 (Pt. 2)

After taking the new Rubik's cube and it's note into the right room, I stop for a second to look at the next two staircases. A new part of the statue came up, a scythe laying across the ground. It gives me a brief memory of Jason, and I suddenly wonder what he does in his free time. The only things he sees often are his army people, and they're not much for talking. After thinking that for a bit, I just move on. Let me just say, I really don't want to have to do two more puzzles. My head hurts, my sense of direction is shot from the maze, and I go up a new staircase. This room looks all to similar to the Rubik's cube room, but this time there's a small wooden ball sitting there. Next to it is a pile of pieces. I think it was one of those brain bender things they sell at Walgreens. I guess that I have to make that wooden ball out of the pieces, and the completed one is there to show me how it should look. With a sigh, I sit down and set to work. After a while though, I kind of stop thinking about what I'm doing, and basically start wondering what the last test will be. Knowing Mark, and the fact that only he completely passed the test, I doubt I'll do well in it.
It was around the time when I was thinking this that I looked down and realized that I subconciousely finished the puzzle. I guess I'm smarter then I think. Now I stand up and pass by the statue, that now has the eyes on the statue monster glowing bright red. It's a little creepy, but I just move past it and into the last room. This one's actually completely empty.
"What's the deal?" I ask out loud.
"Figure it out" Comes L's voice.
I sigh and look around. Nothing seems out of the ordinary. Then I notice patterns on the walls. On every wall, is a pattern that goes like so:
/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-
It goes around the walls in a circle until it reaches the entrance. The reason I didn't notice it before was because the pattern is really small. I guess my clue will be somewhere in there. So, I get to work on the walls. I've barely been looking for five minutes when I find the mark. The pattern does this:
/-/-/-/-/L/-/-/-/-/
I drop my pen in that spot, and continue on. I find a second spot with that pattern then, and a third after that. Each spot I mark with something from my pockets, like I said, first my pen, then a waterproof pad of paper, and finally my knife. There's three L's on the walls, but then I hear something: Stone scraping stone, which means the final part of the statue is rising. I go out and look, and see that right next to the scythe, there's a book. Ignoring it, I go to the door and try it. But it still doesn't open. That's when I notice something: the door is made of metal, most likely copper from the color. It's a double door, so both doors should swing open. This one however, was welded shut on the other side, making it impossible to open the door unless you're Chris.
Then I remember the small L's in the wall. Only one was etched into the wall, like the big one into the door. I run back in, and pick up my things, before going to the L. I knock on the stone, and hear the hollowness of it. Feeling it again, it's not even hard stone like the rest of the walls, just harder clay. I pull out my knife, and start cutting into the wall. It goes suprisingly easily in. It feels like cutting drywall, a bit tough, but not impossible.
Once I've got a sizeable hole in the wall, I crawl through, and that's when I get my first glimpse of L. He's a lot younger than I expected, only fourteen or fifteen, and is wearing pajamas for some reason. He's really pale, and has what was probably blond hair once, but is now almost snow-colored. He's crouching over a half-done house of cards.
"You'reL?" I ask.
"Yes" He says "But since you've gotten this far, you can call me Near."
"Is that your real name?"
"No." He says. He leaves his house of cards for a moment, and crouches in front of a chess board.
"This is your last test." He says, and I sit down. From my position, I'm white.
"So this is why Mark completely passed, he beat you at chess."
"Technically, we both took all of each other's pieces, so both of us were left with only kings. We called it a tie."
I look up at him. If this guy tied with Mark at chess, I have no chance of beating him. But, I make the opening move. I move my left knight forward. He moves the pawn in front of his left rook two spaces forward. After that, the game became a blur, but in what seemed like a few minutes, Near had the majority of my power pieces taken, and I only had a few pawns and a bishop to show for it. To end it, he boxes me in with my own pieces and declares
"Checkmate."
I stare at the board.
"So does this mean I fail?" I ask him.
"Yes, it does. you got a three out of five."
"But there were six challenges. The maze, the cube, the puzzle, the paper, the wall, and chess."
"The maze was just a hallway leading to the tests." Near said, stacking another card onto his house.
"Okay, but how did I fail two?"
"You broke the cube. A monkey with a lighter could have had the intelligence to do what you did."
"Well..." I try to think of something to say, but can't.
"Whatever. I'm gonna go kill some monsters."
Near says nothing.
I go up a staircase at the back of the room, and step into the sunlight. Let me just say, that maze was dark. I head back to the monster arena. The tan girl says my next part will be in about an hour, so I go to the tree where that escaped dragon attacked me last year. I lean against the trunk, and before I know it, I'm asleep.

August 12, 2008

When I woke up this morning, I had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. Only now, eating breakfast next to Cade do I remember why. You see, students of fire, or at least the regular ones without titles, are organized by numbers, with high...

A temporary pause

Now that we've come to a decent pausing point, I'd like to teach you the details you may not have understood because Jack was writing them.

Cade? What are you doing? Hey! Is that my journal!

Yes it is. I'm trying to clarify the things op screwed up on.

Like what?

Well, you didn't say much about why we're at war. Or everything about Jason, or yourself even. In fact, you just told them about the past few days.

Well, it's a journal.

That's not an excuse. What should I talk about first?

The fact that you're a bigmouth. That's a good spot to start.

Shut up. I'll start with you.
So Jack was a regular guy, right? Well, except maybe for the foster dad thing.

He was a drunk, too.

Whatever, he was normal, but then Batholith attacked him one night out of nowhere, and Jack found his fire powers. But he had gotten a bruised head, and the first time you use your element, you faint, and the next day, Jack didn't remember the whole thing until Batholith attacked again. Jack nearly got killed that time, but Zander was in the area hunting Batholith, because he'd recently escaped custody. So Zander found him, and saved Jack, but didn't manage to catch Batholith. That's when I met Zander, actually, waiting for you to get better.
Once that was done, Jack went to boot camp, and found Mel. I never went to boot camp, so I don't know what they do there, but when he finished it, he came back to Chicago to help the squad in charge of the place, who you read about.

Natasha, Joey, and the ones you didn't hear about, Obadiah and Haley.

If you interrupt again...

Whatever.

So he was there, and was fighting a monster, when the students of ice attacked all our bases, even our main one.

Mark said they tried to recreate the holocaust on the people in the main base.

*Smack*

Shut up Jack!

That hurt!

Who cares!

I do!

Whatever! Keleigh came and warned Jack about the impending doom, so Jack went on a long quest kind of thing, where I came along once I found out about my water powers, Zander once he broke out of the prison at main base, Jared once he left after the boot camp was attacked, and Grace at some school. We got into the main base, broke everybody out, and one by one got our bases back. Now we're at war. Since the six of us helped do that, we're kind of famous, and we get sent around a lot.

That got kind of rushed at the end, miss perfectionist.

*Smack*

I'll tell you about shadow later. I should make a guide to our world.

You do that. I want my journal back. It's mine, and I can be as big a slacker as I want.

Fine.

See you.

*Slam*

She does that all the time. Dunno why. Anyway... *Whistle*
See ya.
