"You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts." --2 Corinthians 3:3

Gray-Ink

It's been a little quiet over here in the Land of Ink

So, definitely almost been a month since I last posted. I apologize. I am not dead. But it's not for lack of college trying to kill me. There have been so many things that have happened over the past month that it would take me too long to write about them all. Let's simply leave it at I am busy to an almost dizzying degree and have found little time for my own leisure. I suppose that is what college is all about, though? A whirlwind of activity, learning and pulling all nighters when you realize that DAMMIT THAT PAPER IS DUE TOMORROW. So needless to say I've been a little preoccupied. [sigh] But it is the weekend and I'm going to try to relax a little. There will be a couple bumps in the road before the next break (Thanksgiving, hurry up and get here!!) such as registering for spring and January term classes, which is already proving to be an experience that will turn my hair prematurely gray, as well as facing off with the play that I so naively auditioned for and landed a roll in. Don't get me wrong, it's been a blast but having rehearsal 7-10 every night my first semester of freshman year has been daunting. Let's just say it's going to take a lot of coffee and ramen to get me to Thanksgiving. Hopefully after that though it will be smooth sailing until first semester is over...

Fourth Time's the Charm

So. My roommate that I was going to kill? She's gone. NOT because I killed her but I found another young lady who lived four doors down the hall from me who had a roommmate from hell too!! We got to talking last night and went to talk to our RA and this afternoon we finalized the trade. So at dinnertime today we were carting people's possessions down the hall and into their new rooms. My new roommate moved into my room and my sketchy roommmate moved out. It's so much livelier and happier in here. I can actually talk to my new roommmate!! It's amazing!!

Just thought I'd let everyone now, because there was some concern expressed over my potentially murdering my old roomie in cold blood...

Five Interesting Things

One, I'm going to kill my roommate. No really. I most likely am. You'll probably hear about it on the news. We're on the third floor I could just push her out a window and make it look like an accident. She's driving me insane.

Two, I met a guy. Whose roommate is the male version of my roommate. We have a lot more in common than that, but I just think it's interesting. I'm very confused and conflicted about this young man, but it's flattering nonetheless.

Three, I'm writing a communications paper about Fruits Basket. Yes. College is just that awesome. Hopefully my professor will see the merit of using anime for this analysis paper.

Four, Stacy's Pita Chips are amazing. If I didn't live on the third floor and thus have to go up and down three flights of steps several time a day I would most certainly be gaining the frehsman fifteen because of them.

Five, I don't really have a five. How's everyone else been doing?

So, there's a virus going around campus; and guess who has it?!

Bing, bing, bing! You are correct. There person that is sick is indeed ME! Isn't that wonderful?!

I've just been feeling icky the last couple of days but mainly attributed it to a cold or allergies or something. Until this morning when I woke up feeling like death. Went to health services and the school's nurse tested for strep but it was negative. She said there's just this bug that's making its way around campus and that I have it. Technially it's contagious so I don't have to go to class and if my professors want verification they can call health services and I'll be excused...but because it's 'not that bad' I could still go to class and tough it out. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do. On the one hand I really don't want to miss two of the three classes I have today [the third one I could care less about] because we're talking about projects and tests in both and I don't want to miss the lectures. But I also know that both of my professors would be understanding of my being sick and not attending class.

I hate being sick. I just feel nasty and achy and gross. I haven't really missed home until now, mainly because I've never been sick without my mom there to take care of me. Even if I had to stay home alone when I was sick she would set my medicine out for me, make sure I has soup and Gatorade, ect. But...I'm left to my own devices here. It worries me. But I guess this is a test of how well I can function independently. I'm an adult now...got to suck it up and face the music. Which I guess means I should probably go to class...but I'll figure that out later. Don't have my first class until 11 I've got an hour to figure it out.

Sorry I've been whining to you guys. :/

Survived Two Weeks? I think so.

So I have officially been a college student for two weeks and it's been pretty great thus far. Had some ups and downs but the majority of college life has been good. I got talked into auditioning for a play and ended up getting a pretty main part. I've never acted before but I am going to be Philematium in Mostellaria. So...I'm the recently-freed whore who is shacking up with some drunken playboy. But the play itself is hilarious, so I'm really excited about it. It'll be interesting to try to be off-book by September 22... [sighs] I don't know if I'll be able to remember all of my lines by then, but I'm hoping I can...

Anyway, my mommy is here this weekend! It's been so good to see her. I'm not really homesick but I definitely missed getting to see and talk to her every day. All of my friends definitely love her [laughs]. She cooked us all dinner last night and then took us out to Chili's tonight for food. So we've all been spoiled over the weekend. It's so much better than nasty dining hall food. We have had some sketchy food in that dining hall. Breakfast and lunch aren't so bad but dinner is puke-inducing. We have what we have affectionately dubbed 'the French-toast burgers'... Which is quite literally a French-toast burger. Two pieces of French-toast with a hamburger patty sandwiched between them. It's so gross... So Mom's cooking was a sight for sore eyes.

We also had our first home football game. I'd actually never been to a football game and let me tell you...it's intense. I'm not a good judge of what is and what is not a good football game; my mom, however, is. And let me tell you we were up and down. There were interceptions and crazy touchdowns and we traded the lead and FINALLY my school threw down like in the last 3 minutes. It was awesome. I am planning on going to some more football games. [laughs] So it's been a good weekend. I'm kind of sad that tomorrow has come so quickly because I need to work on my homework and do laundry once my mom leaves and I know I'll be sad...but it's been such a blessing to have her here to distract me from getting stressed out by this roller-coaster ride I like to call college.
