I am confused.
[This happens quite often.]
So, (if you're like me (not a lot of people are, for the record)), if you look up these "how to write a decent story" types of things (on Deviantart, random places on the web, etc), you'll notice the one big rule:
"Do not make a cliche!"
This is all fine and dandy. I can see the ups, and I can see the downs.
But, you must ask a question - every idea becomes a cliche if it's used so much! When will there be such thing as a "fresh and unique story" if all the ideas become cliche?!
Here, an example, no?
Okay... hm... Ah! Bob (the popular guy), meets the shy girl (Jill (lol)), and they, by some miracle, fall in love and have 10 kids and live in a 5 story house by the sea. He's a lawyer and she's a star Tennis player or something. I don't know. (In reality, that couldn't work, but let's suspend disbelief).
Okay... that is a cliche. But, I don't know if it's me (and my lack of male-affection), I've read a handful of stories on Fanfiction.net about the same cliche, and I've liked it! (though it has been written very well)
Maybe that cliche is too generic...
Okay, I can't think of another one right off the bat, but on to the next thing.
How would you go about fixing something like that (for curiosity and post-lengthing sake)? Jill is torn between three guys that have each fathered 3 of the 10 kids (which brings up the question of who had the final kid), and they go to Maury to figure it out?
Wtf?
I swear, I don't know.
Maybe you can tell me. How to fix a cliche, I mean, because apparently, things have to be so new and fresh things just get stupid.
I love Maury, by the way.
(yay, my first post in over 9 months! That's long enough to have a baby!)

P.S. I bet somebody (whom I don't even know), is going to comment and be like "hey, so-and-so were just like the cliche you mentioned, and they got along FINE".
That's not the point. It was just there to make the point.
But, seriously, if you're going to leave a comment like that, help me out. I've been loosing sleep over this.
