T.A.: Basic steps

I can't draw...not even a circle!"

I've heard that prhase LOT of times. And I think it's not true. All of us can draw, but the first step to start drawing is to believe you actually can draw anything.

You are the one who has the power to create or erase your own limits.

Well, when you're finally convinced that you can draw, next step is releasing your "inner artist". 'But, how do I do that Brunette?' Go easy and follow these next steps:

  • take a pencil (black or color) or a pen
  • take a white paper
  • hands not ready? Make some previous movements to relax your hands, fingers, wrists...try to relax your whole body!
  • if you're needing some music go ahead and turn ON the radio

First of all, I want you to draw simple lines. Try it in any direction you want. Don't worry if they don't look perfect, we do't need that (otherwise I'ld told you to use a rule :P )

Well, now the part I love :D : drawing random things!

*note: I remember that my mom made me practise many of these forms when I was in 1st grade in school, as a help to write better. But it also helps a lot in drawing!. For me, drawing is much like writing. Oh, another tip: while you're drawing don't think about anything, just draw.

Draw it from left to right, from right to lef, up to dow, down to up, from right diagonal, from left diagonal....

Again, don't try 'perfect forms' or copy these forms I've made. Create your own random forms, anything that comes to your mind is ok!. Rememberyou're releasing your inner artist...your hands needs freedom.

Try to increase the speed while you are drawing lines, arrows, everything! Try the speed in all directions while you draw. This will be so helpfull in our next step: drawing circles!:

Here we are, in the circles section. Remember again: Don't be afraid, you can do it!!.
May it sound funny? No, it don't. I know many people who are SCARED (really) of drawing. Maybe in other faces of their life they aren't shy, but when it comes to draw or express emotions in a drawing they just can't do it, or if they draw something they never shows the piece to anyone.

Again...we don't need to draw perfect circles. Just draw circles, little ones, big ones, half-circles. Now change the shape to an egg's like, draw the egg in all directions. Also draw it from left to right, right to left, up to down.... as we did before.

Now feel free to practise any form you want: lines, arrows, circles, squares, hexagons, hearts, clouds...anything!
Try different speed while you draw.
Feel confident. We can note when someone draws with confidence and when not.
Keep practising this lesson as long as you want, as long as you need it. I personaly like to draw meaningless forms before I start a "serious" drawing.

Before the goodbye I'll ask ypu one question: Have you noted that I didn't ask youb to use a eraser? Why that?...Exactly! Coz' we don0t need one! I'll be watchiing you, so don't even think about using one lol
At the end of every lesson I'ld be so happy if I see a smile on your face. :]
