I thought seeing as I haven't posted here yet that now would be a good time ^^ I thought i'd post some links to web-pages that people interested in environmental issues, or development issues would find interesting.
[link #1] -- Developments a website by DFID that has many interesting humanitarian and environmental articles.
[Link #5] -- Fairtrade foundation I really do encourage those of you who enjoy the odd cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate to try to find Fairtrade certified brands. That way you are ensuring that the people who worked to grow the product have a decent wage and can support their families. There are also Fairtrade certified chocolates, clothes, cereals, footballs... And much more!
Take a lookie and have a browse ^^ then enjoy this pretty video.
Okay, so if any of you have gone to my "Save the People" world (Ha I doubt it), I have a tiny little snippet on chemicals in vaccines. Well, I found out some more information, and the truth is much much more disturbing that I thought it was.
So, if you haven't figured out by now, our vaccines aren't exactly environmentally friendly. I had already known that mercury (a known toxic substance that is poisonous esp. to children, pregnant women, and infants) are put in flu shots. Yes, those little flu shots you get once a year has the potential to kill you. There is no such thing as a "safe amount of mercury" to put into your body.
For a while, I thought that our flu shot was the only thing that wasn't green. Well, I was wrong. The vaccinations for Hepatitis B contain not only mercury, but also aluminum and formaldehyde. And it turns out that almost EVERY VACCINATION that exists on this planet contains at least one if not more of the following ingredients:
Ethylene glycol (antifreeze)
Phenol also known as carbolic acid (this is used as a disinfectant, dye)
Formaldehyde, a known cancer causing agent
Aluminum which is associated with Alzheimer disease and seizures also cancer producing in laboratory mice (it is used as an additive to promote antibody response)
Thimerosal (used as a mercury disinfectant/preservative) can result in brain injury and autoimmune disease
Neomycin, Streptomycin (used as antibiotic) have caused deadly allergic reactions in some people
These vaccines are also grown and strained thru animal or human tissue like monkey kidney tissue, chicken embryo, embryonic guinea pig cells, calf serum, human diploid cells (the dissected organs of aborted fetuses as in the case of rubella, hepatitis A, and chickenpox vaccines).
The problem with animal cells is during serial passage of the virus thru the animal cells, the animal RNA and DNA can be transferred from one host to another and undetected animal viruses may slip past quality control testing procedures as in 1955 thru 1961 with SV40 which stands for simian virus#40 (meaning the 40th virus found) which has oncogenic properties (cancer causing). What other viruses could be slipping by that we don't know of?
Isn't that insane? The government is telling the scientists to INJECT these ingredients DIRECTLY into our bodies with a syringe. Every day, a child dies from a vaccine related death. It might only be one child to some people, but after a week, how many children have been lost? Seven. That's way too many in my book. No child should have to die because they were trying to stay HEALTHY. That's just a cruel, ironic twist.
So why is the government doing this? It turns out that this is kinda OUR fault. They can't find the natural resources that they could replace the chemicals with because we either killed those natural resources because of what we've been doing to our planet, or it just went poof poof bye bye over thousands of years. The damage has already been done. This is something that we can't fix. So there you have it. Evidence of what we've been doing to our planet. The price was the lives of innocent children.
Don't forget to check out the post below, it explains some of the effects of global warming!
Tips On Going Green:
Replace your bulbs with compact flurorescent bulbs. They don't give off heat and can reduce your monthly electric bill by 5%.
"Unnecessary-yet-comfortable long showers" Try using the pulse jet with a solar hot-water system. [I have no idea if I've got that .__.]
Turn off all appliances when you're not using them. Look for Energy Star Models when buying new appliances.
Drive less. Ride a bike or take more walks if you can and practice carpooling. If you're thinking about buying a new car, then purchase an electric, solar, or hybrid.
Buy recycled products, such as toner cartridges, paper goods or plastics. More recycled products are available now.
Finally, conservation. Use less of everything, especially natural resources.
Remember, the little things eventually add up. No matter how small, we all need to play a part in saving our environment!
Hey, it's Sesshy.Uber.Rad--guest poster. I thought I would talk to you really quick about global warming. :]
Unfortunately, there are some people that don't believe that global warming exists. Well, there is plenty of evidence. Before all of this really bad global warming mumbo jumbo, every year, the earth's temperature increased by about .6 to .9 degrees C (or 1.08 to 1.62 degrees F) which is a natural process. BUT NOW this has been doubled over the past ten years, and the number is still rising.
Okay, so like 2 degrees F increase doesn't seem like alot, but it changes ALOT of things. One inevitable consequence of global warming is sea-level rise. In the face of higher sea levels and more intense storms, coastal communities face greater risk of rapid beach erosion and damage from destructive storms. Warmer temperatures will alter weather patterns, making it likely that there will be more intense droughts and more intense rain events. Also, the glaciers in the south are melting at a much much faster rate than usual, causing the sea level to rise very rapidly. So far, more than 200,000 people have been displaced, because now, their homes are under the water. And the polar bears are dying. D:
Does global warming exist now? It doesn't seem important to us, the people that live on safe land, but it very much exists to the thousands of people that had to move from their homes. It very much exists for the people who have lost their homes due to ferocious storms. We're just so in our own world that we don't stop to notice what's going on out there. And unfortunately, I don't think people here are going to notice until OUR country starts to slip beneath the waves.
Well, I've thougt about creating a world for the environment since last year, but a combination of laziness and procrastination has pushed it's premier date back to now ^^;
This world was created to spread awareness about Pollution and the effects of Global Warming.
And of course, tips on how to be greener *is a tree hugger* XD
