Lady Ga Ga meet's Paris Hilton

Number one singer Lady GaGa met heiress Paris Hilton for the first time last night- at a Nokia 5800 party in London.

The two blonde bombshells went to the same Bel Air school but bizarrely it was in swanky London club Punk that they had their first encounter.

And speaking to MTV News Paris- in the UK to promote her new TV show- said she is a big fan of the Just Dance singer.

"I dont usually get excited to meet anyone but Lady Ga Ga is her own thing, she knows what shes doing and her music is like no other," said Hilton. "She writes all her own music and has a style that is so innovative and modern and futuristic that no one has even thought of it yet and I love that. Shes a trend setter."

The group has sold 27 million albums worldwide since their 1996 breakthrough album "Curb." Their JUNO legacy began in 2001, when they were first named Best New Group.

"This is the good one," lead guitarist Ryan Peake said of the Fan Choice Award. "This is why didn't get a real job. This is why we still don't have real jobs," he joked.

The group also won 3 awards for best album of the year, best fan choice award, and best group of the year!!

Madonna can't wait

Madonna's attempted adoption of Malawian toddler Mercy James is an excellent test of your Native Cynicism Index. Those from the sunnier reaches of the bell curve see a wealthy Westerner reaching out to an African child in need, a middle third may sense the specter of colonialism or the complicated moral issues of using vast wealth and celebrity powers to circumvent a poor country's laws in service of good intensions, while a final group know in their shriveled hearts that the singer will scoop the child into an Ed Hardy sack, then force her to retrieve a giant diamond from a swamp cavern in the heart of Devil's Bayou or never see her teddy bear again.
