Chapter 3

Didier Groaned and his eyes fluttered open, he was still in the old dusty armchair, in the same musty study but Adam was gone. In his place there were about five of the dark silhouettes. He didn’t move, he remembered looking up to see one holding him in place and then bending over and breathing something on him that knocked him out. The five were talking
“Why didn’t you put him with the other Haytham?” the one closest to him snapped at a tall thin one. The one called Haytham advanced a pace.
“The one he was with” he pointed at Didier “darted away, I had to catch him or he might escape. Then he would have informed their authorities of us being here and we would have to have fled”.
The one who had snapped at Haytham sighed and scratched his head. He turned to face Didier, who flinched.
“He’s awake now though” this figure sighed “what should we do”.
Haytham walked forward and grabbed Didier's chin surveying his face. Didier cried out and tried to pull away but Haytham’s grip was to strong.
“Stop wiggling” he grunted at Didier.
He then turned to face the others “I think he’ll do if we turn him soon. He’s healthy and lively, the only point of discussion is who will take him and watch him. Same goes for the other two. The YaChou clan is loosing numbers, but same with the Kuroka… we have to make the choice soon, before they begin to lose their spark.” He looked back at Didier and asked him “what are your friends names?” Didier was at a point were he felt that doing something stupid and courageous was called for so he spit in the figures face and told him to do something he would have normally.
Haytham looked at him for a while, but another one of the figures pushed him out of the way and slapped Didier “filthy rat!” it barked at him. Haytham grabbed this ones shoulder and said “peace Faruq!” Faruq bowed slightly and said “sorry sir, I couldn’t stop myself”.
The one named Haytham bent to look at Didier again.
“Please tell us” he said in a soft voice “we will not harm them or you”.
Didier was still refusing to speak and slowly but eventually they gave up after Faruq had beaten him a few more times.
They forced him from the chair and carried him down a hall blind folded, not that it would have mattered, he couldn’t see in this dark anyway. They dragged him to a door and Haytham peered in it with a flashlight. He turned to the one holding him and said
“They’re awake, let him in”
Didier was shoved into the room violently, he was very scared now and was so happy to see that in the room Adam and Robby sat staring, tears welled in his eyes. Haytham lit a torch and put out water and candles, then left. Didier was scared now, it had just hit him how horrifying the whole thing was and sobbed into Adams shoulder for a long time.
