You'd think but they do like treating us like idiots :|
A small majority like that shouldn't be the final word on it, if it were the other way around they would be calling for another vote in a few years, they struggle to run governments with small margins like that. They really should have, given that they're the ones whose going to have to deal with it for the longest. but I don't know, it's just going to be a long and painful two years now :(
I really hope things go well for you too
Courage isnt a matter of not being afraid, Its being afraid and doing what you have to do anyway!
I agree exactly on what you said about Jeremy. It seems either way they would have attacked him. It's really sad. Especially as he won by such a landslide! I mean with all this talk about how the EU isn't run by elected people, you'd think they'd listen to the democratic vote!
That website had over three million signatures the last time I checked. But I've just seen this so it looks like it won't matter. Fair enough I suppose, a vote is a vote. I wish they'd hold a mini referendum for 16-18 year olds to add to it, but that won't happen.
Sigh.
I just hope when I talk to my family about it all we can all discuss things calmly, as they voted to leave and I didn't.
Same here! A lot of Labour ministers have been against him since the start because he's more left wing than a lot of them and because none of them expected him to win and got annoyed that he did. If he had been more enthusiastic about it maybe it would have helped things but then those same people would accuse him of being two faced and false like the rest of them.
I found the petition site but it doesn't seem to be working, but I'll try again in a few days. He is an highly incredibly unpleasant, and I'm being extremely polite there, but what's more disturbing is that he isn't even one of the worst in his party!
I'm a bit more hopeful that there could be, because anything can happen in the next 2+ years before we leave, they can't ignore a 2million+ signature petition and there have been some people stating that they made a mistake in voting choice a regret their decision. Hopefully yeah. It's like they've already forgotten that poor Joe Cox's death, either that or they have even less of a heart and a brain thought possible!
Courage isnt a matter of not being afraid, Its being afraid and doing what you have to do anyway!
I keep watching the news and I have to say I feel rather scared. Also the fact that people are abandoning Jeremy Corbyn seems unfair. So he isn't 100% fond of the EU, he has his reasons, and despite what people say he DID campaign about Brexit. I joined and voted for him too, at least he seems to have some morals!
I can't find the exact tweet from Farage that someone linked to before, but I did find this article talking about it here. Also here is a tweet from 2010 that really pisses me off XD here
It looks like a 2nd referendum isn't going to happen, and I do understand why, but it would have been nice to include more young people. I just hope we can all move on from here. I keep hearing about really nasty racist comments happening and it makes me so sad. I'm not saying all leavers are racists, because obviously that isn't the case, but they sure have crawled out the woodwork this past weekend! :(
As the old saying goes "The problem with political jokes is they get elected", but I hope for everyones sake that Donald Trump doesn't get into power. From an outsider perspective Bernie Sanders seemed like a nice enough candidate. The election campaign in America goes on for ages, so I don't blame you ^^
Courage isnt a matter of not being afraid, Its being afraid and doing what you have to do anyway!
I agree, it generally seems like people who have their heart in the right place do have a tendancy to get over run by those who tell the people what they want to hear. The political canidates this term are just horrific. I think that people were so overwhelmed and caught up with the shinanigans and uproar that they completley forgot what the whole purpose of the election is. Trump was amusing to watch but its a horrific idea that he is actually a legit canidate with the potential to run the country. I really need to take the time to catch up on what's going on everywhere! I'm so far behind because of how busy Ihave been at work!
And even more when most people think it’s the right one DX It’s really disheartening, there are some who are in power trying to solve things with morals in the right place but there are people stocking the fires and playing with peoples deepest fears and saying things people want to hear and your right it is. For someone outside of the US it’s sometimes difficult to believe that he’s actually real and not a character. We have some people who make the same kind of noises he does but they’re nowhere near close to getting into power. Maybe it would be better if there were more than just two main political parties? I don’t blame you, you don’t need to see any more of that than you need too. Yeah it is, I love talking about it too, I just don’t usually have anyone to talk too about it ^^; *it’s more than okay, there are most likely typos in my stuff, and I usually take my time and am on a computer XD*
Courage isnt a matter of not being afraid, Its being afraid and doing what you have to do anyway!
Politics can always be frustrating especially when they don't necessarily seem to be heading in a good direction! Everywhere seems to be having legit problems they are trying to deal and the outcomes are just really dragging down most people's moral. I mean immigration is one of the easiest targets to distract people from real problems or proposals hidden deep within the propistions dealing with immigration. I agree though atleast you don't have someone like Trump.I'm extrememly frustrated that this circus we call politics in the US has continued this long. I generally keep to myself with politics but I have begun to cleanse my FB of followers who agree with him and spout of ignorant racist nonsense. Politics is a interesting topical all together though. My sister has a bachelors in political science. She looooooves talking about it lol*sorry for typos i'm doing this off my phone lol*
Same here, and I also don’t know of any other active Brits on this site :)
I hope so too, but the NHS needs a lot more than that and I don’t think there’s enough to go around or at least it won’t be shared with the sectors that need it.
Do you have a link and could you share it with me please? Oh he would proprably tell people to grow up and say that democracy has won and be a complete child about the whole thing. I hope we get one and I really hope the campaigners will behave like adults this time around!
I think so too, young people aren’t as disinterested in politics as the older would like to believe. But I think that a lot of young people didn’t vote because they felt as though there weren’t enough proper information and felt disengaged by the whole campaign.
Drawing makes everything better :D
I really hope so too, it’s the only way, but it all feels a bit hopeless at the moment DX It does (well it’s a good slogan for a reason :)) I’ve only had one brief experience with my MP and it was really quick and I didn’t get to ask any questions. I think my area is so reliable to vote for them that they don’t really see a point talking to anyone but the hard core fans (I don’t think Plaid Cymru has ever lost it’s seat here) yeah, you’d have a better chance in areas that voted in or that the MP’s were remain campaigners,
also I find it really strange how pretty much all of the newspapers changed their tunes at the last minute and encouraged people to vote remain.
Yeah, he seems more genuine than a lot of other politicians, and the behaviour of the other MPs in the house of commons is atrocious DX I was really glad too, I’ve joined the labour party because of him and I’ll vote for him again if I need to!
It’s all great :D
Courage isnt a matter of not being afraid, Its being afraid and doing what you have to do anyway!
Long replies are good! I've been sat at home on my own today so it's nice to be able to discuss things aha.
I do hope the NHS does see a significant part of that funding. I don't mind if it doesn't get ALL of it, so long as it also gets spent on schools or other needed things. But I feel like that is all wishful thinking right now.
I know there is a petition going round asking for another vote, and I've seen Farage post some stuff on his Twitter a while back saying he'd want a re-vote if it turned out that Remain won by a small margin... Wonder how he'd feel about a re-vote now?
I also strongly think that for this vote they should have lowered the voting age, like they did for Scotland's referendum. I think that could have made a difference, because in all polls most young people voted for remain.
I've been distracting myself making more art, so that's a positive thing I suppose (though not related).
I hope that people stay angry about this and ACT on their feelings by talking to MP's and everything. I'm never sure how much difference it makes, but every little helps. (Stupid tesco slogan haha). Mind you, I've written to my MP before and just got a blunt-ish letter in return that wasn't particularly informative, but I still feel the need to do something haha.
I really hope Corbyn stays as leader. I know he isn't as charismatic as some, but the poor man doesn't always get a chance to speak over all the crazy booing from the opposition. I was so pleased when he became leader, it's nice to see someone with a conscience up there.
I will send one to you delivered by one of the horse men of the apocalypses (props not famine though) as the Royal mail will have been completely privatised.
I am pretty much the same, I don't think it's enough of a majority to act on, it's not easy to just go back in if there's a change of mind.
I completely agree with you, I wonder if we can have another vote before we actually have to leave?, The area I lived in was one of the few places in the whole of Wales to vote remain, I'm seriously disappointed in Wales, we got the most funding from the EU because we are one of the poorest out of all of the other countries!
I'm kinda smiling a bit, because a lot of conservative MPs had written a letter to the PM telling he should stay and finish the job, and him resigning is basically him going LOL and sticking two fingers up at them. Thank you very much, I wonder if anyone else will get who they are? ^^
I really hope so too, Farage is going to be unbearable DX There might be a vote of no confidence against against Jeremy :( Scotland are thinking of having another referendum and most likely leave, Northern Ireland might leave to join Eire and Wales will be stuck with England, because we can' become independent because we have nothing, oh and I think the leave campaigners are back tracking on their promises about giving the NHS the £350 million a week and will most likely be just £10 million
(I'm really sorry for this long, long reply ^^;)
Courage isnt a matter of not being afraid, Its being afraid and doing what you have to do anyway!
Please hand me a large wet fish, I have some people who need a slap!
I'm SO disappointed about the result. My husband woke me up before 6am today to tell me the news and I've been feeling a little sick ever since.
I know the area I live in voted to remain, but my family voted leave and I'm just disappointed with them. I mean, I know the EU has it's issues, but it isn't like they'll stop affecting us now we've left. We'll still have to sign up for things and pay for stuff only now it won't be as beneficial and we won't have a say. I was surprised at how Wales voted, Cornwall too, considering the amount of funds the EU invest in them.
The fact that Cameron resigned and I'm NOT smiling is very concerning! I love your descriptions by the way XD Creepy Lizard and Golden retriever ahaha.
I hope we can make the best of a bad situation and that things don't all turn to poop. Though at the moment I see a lot of poop on the horizon...
