Chapter Four: The Piano
“-And so by breaking the clocks we adjust the flow of time. Dante and I already broke clocks on the first and 2nd floor,” Hime said.
“We also found a weird scrap of paper,” Dante added.
“So did, Chero and I. We also found a safe,” Dino said.
“The papers and the keyboard. Could they relate?” Mocha questioned.
“Regardless. We should try and open that safe,” Chero said.
Mocha took the pieces of paper from Dino and Dante. She held them up and pieced them together.
“Well, they look like they belong together,” Kiki said.
Mocha nodded.
Chero jumped when the Vampire Knight theme song went off. Kiki reached into her pocket, her face red.
“Sorry…That’s mine…”
“Dante’s rang earlier,” Hime said.
“Mine did too! We heard a piano!” Chero exclaimed.
Kiki answered the phone.
Ping!
“Another piano note?” she questioned.
“It’s a different note than what Dante and I heard. What about you, Cher?” Hime asked.
“Yup. Ours was different,” Chero said, glancing at Dino.
“Three different notes…We should focus on one puzzle at a time,” Dante said.
Hime nodded, “The sooner we solve the puzzles…the sooner we can find Jenny and Francis.”
“Huh?” Chero questioned.
“Er… Did I say something wrong?” Hime asked.
“Dante…” Mocha started.
“I know. It is ok,” he said.
“…?”
Hime looked at everyone confused.
“You did say “something wrong”. Was it on purpose? Not that I care to correct you, but poor Danni!” Dino said.
“Yeah! The two we have to save are Francis and Danni. Why did you say Jenny?” Chero questioned.
“What?!” Mocha questioned.
“Hey! What’s wrong with you? We’re here to save Jenny, aren’t we? Francis and Prussia are not even here!” Kiki added.
“Only Jenny? Wait. Wait a minute. Jenny did say back in the fanroom that she wanted to come.” Hime pondered aloud, “And I said I would come with her…So I came with Jenny.”
“Hime? What’s wrong with you?! The three of us came here with Danni, remember?”
Chero questioned Hime, “Jenny didn’t come and Francis got separated from Dante
and the others.”
“You guys…” Mocha tried to step in.
“Wait! I thought Jenny was the only one missing. Why do you keep bringing up
Danni and Francis?” Kiki questioned.
“What in the world is going on?” Hime questioned.
“Maybe correcting time caused some kind of…disturbance, si?” Dino contributed.
Hime wandered over to a chest of drawers. Should she? Well…Correcting time so they could escape was important…so…Why not try again? Hime opened a drawer to find a clock. She picked it up and dropped it to the floor.
She grabbed onto the top of the chest as her mind started to spin. She saw images of herself and different people outside of the mansion. First she saw herself with Kiki and Jenny.
“See? I knew I came with Jenny…” she thought.
But then the image switched to herself with only Danni.
“Oh… That’s right. Danni and I went to go and pick up Dino and Chero…No. No. This is not right. This memory is wrong.”
The next image was of Hime, Mocha and Francis. Hime shook her head at that memory. That was not what happened. But maybe it was? No. No. This memory was all wrong too. Hime watched it fade and switch to another memory. Hime watched as she, Chero, Danni, and Dino stood outside of the mansion.
“Oh. This memory…”
