The Road Leading Into FLCL: Progressive

I know I've been out of the scene for a while, but check this out.

Despite me not being very vocal about it b/c I had to finish off my freshman year and some other stuff, I've been keeping a close eye on the scene as we reach exactly 7 days (and some hours in change) from the premier of "FLCL: Progressive" on Toonami.

So let's recap before I get into my theories and expectations.

I was ecstatic to hear about what happened on April 1st, 2018 since on that weekend there was a JAPANESE DUBBED episode of one of the new FLCL episodes that featured on Toonami and the internet went insane!!

Now I sadly wasn't able to watch because I didn't have access to a TV and I was actually travelling that day, but let's just acknowledge how amazing that is.

Speaking from a North American perspective, it would be inconceivable to believe that an episode of anime would play on cable TV in JAPANESE DUB. So even though I didn't get to see it, I was happy.
But the April Fools prank was a bit more deep than that, the episode was actually the first episode of FLCL: Alternative, which is the 3rd season coming in September.

I won't spoil the episode altogether but I will say this:
1. The ED theme "Star Overhead" is amazing and I can't wait to hear the full version
2. The art and animation (from the scenes that I saw) were great.
3. The episode stays true to FLCL.

I didn't watch the full episode, but I did watch several reviews of it and I did get to see quite a few scenes so I'm excited to see it.

And if you think about it, you have to also admire the foresight of Production I.G and the staff involved in the Season 2 and Season 3 because everything that was featured in the previous trailer was actually a lay-up for this April Fool's stunt. It's funny because I predicted that everything on the trailer would be for Season 2, BUT I was wrong. That's what I get for not acknowledging that it was a COMBO TRAILER

So let's skip over to the next page for what I'm looking for going into FLCL: Progressive
