Princess Mononoke review

"What is a world? Do we know it's true meaning...? Where is our love, in it..."

Developers: Studio Ghibli

Episodes: 1 (movie)

Genre: fantasy, naturalistic, adventure, romance

Certificate: PG

I am finally able and finally remembered to do some reviews of the Studio Ghibli movies. This one, which is not one of the first, but also not one of the last Studio Ghibli movies, it just came in the middle and in the middle is where it most belongs where it managed to bring back that quality of the anime movies...

Like all Ghibli movies, first thing that you may notice is the art and animations that are done. For that, they are phenomenal! They sure have a unique type of art which is combined with the traditional one. From there, it roses and whole new, very specific one which amazingly blends with the great animations that follow. Everything goes on well, every bit of detail is showed and for one, looking at something bad in this section is like looking for a needle in the whole forest.
Mentioning the forest, that is where the story is mostly set. Determination to save it, between a war of humans and old gods has never been showed before. The story at first may seem a bit complex and to some may require a little bit of knowledge to history of Japan, because it is set in feudal era of Japan. Nevertheless, the story clearly follows a young man ready to take what he thinks is right, and a girl driven be her own emotions and her own desire. They clash and at the end, only love can rose...
The story, animations, everything here is accompanied by some amazing melody that is present here. And by saying amazing, I really mean it. From the voice acting (both Japanese and even the English version) to sound affects of war, moves, nature, animals, surroundings... Everything from that has been done specifically and in a very good way. The music of this anime is also very well done, combining as well that old feudal feeling and surrounding with modern symphony.
And at the end I want to say that the overall presentation is just filled with all the best effects and the best background around it. You will always want to see what might happen next, and how one thing is connected with the other? What this and what that means? It will leave you speechless just after the first watching and for that, it won't be the last!

Art and animations: 10/10 - From backgrounds, to characters... is absolutely fantastic
Sound: 10/10 - I tried to find a flaw in this section... but failed epically
Story: 8/10 - romance part is just great, overall story might be a little confusing to first watchers
Presentation: 9/10 - The way everything is set let's you be just without words to say.
Overall: 10/10 - One of the best Studio Ghibli movies, definitely deserves nothing less
