Chapter 5
The rest of the week I spent all my time with Lawliet. Kayla and Melissa were still sick so I soaked up as much time with him as I could. I’d grown fond of Lawliet, for a boy had never really opened up to me like that before, and I hardly even knew him! The time under the apple tree I will always remember. Lawliet turned out to be the smartest kid in class, even surpassing Sarah, who had always been the smartest in the class since Grade 1. I watched in amazement as Lawliet answered all the teachers’ questions in full detail on nanotechnology then aced the test she had given him; the test that she gave him was specially prepared and was for the incredibly advanced students. Eventually Lawliet was offered to move up to honors class but refused. One day under the apple tree I asked him why he refused the offer. “I just didn’t suit me.” He answered. I gaped at him. “How can it not suit you? Your probably the most smartest kid in the school!” I said. Lawliet looked at me with kind eyes. “I think I’d like to be normal for once.” He answered. I gave him a funny look. He laughed. “I’ll tell you sometime later.” He said, still smiling. But Lawliet never would. Perhaps he was lying, I don’t know. But he never told me. I walked with him to our next class. And then suddenly I had a small impulse to hold his hand. “What am I doing!? I’m not going to hold his hand!” I thought. I shook my head, as if to chase away the notion. Lawliet looked at me. “Oh it’s nothing.” I answered his unspoken question. I finished the next subject and went on the bus home, Lawliet accompanying me on the way. I was used to this by now, as he had insisted he would walk me home the day I talked to him under the apple tree. He walked me to the door. Then before I knew what I was doing I wrapped my arms around him. “What am I doing!” I screamed in my head. My eyes shot open and I felt the heat rising to my cheeks. I immediately let go of him and apologized over and over. “I’m sorry! I don’t know hat happened to me! I’m sorry.” I said. Lawliet smiled, but he seemed slightly shocked. “It’s okay. I understand.” He said. Then I waved good-bye and shut myself into my room, and drowned myself with music with my iPod.
Chapter 4
The rest of the day I noticed Colin eyeing me in between classes but I was not prepared when he sat at my table at lunch with a huge grin that’d I’d never seen him wear. I gaped at him. He kept smiling. “Why so surprised?” he asked. I kept gaping at him. “What?” he said playfully. I noticed he was wearing a white long sleeved t-shirt and jeans. I shut my mouth and picked at my food. “So what are we going to do today?” He asked more calmly, seeing my surprise no doubt. “We?” I managed to choke out. “Yeah who else are you going to hang out with?” he said, smiling again. “W-well I was thinking more of just hanging out under the apple tree.” I said. At least I was talking. “Well you don’t want o be a…loner do you?” he said feebly. I shrugged. “I’m used to it.” I replied. “Kayla and Melissa get sick easily.” I said. “Okay the.” He said and stood up to leave. I paused. “I want him to stay!” I was almost screaming in my head. “Wait! Fine I’ll hang with you.” I said, admitting defeat. He smiled that smile again. “So what are we going to do?” he said. “Well I need to stuffy for that math test. Oh! I also need to finish up that PowerPoint presentation on Nuclear Energy and-“ I began. “Other then academics” Colin interrupted. I drawed a blank on that one. “You don’t know do you?” He said. “No I don’t.” I sighed. “Well I have something so come on!!!” He said pulling my arm and dashing across the cafeteria. “Your fast!” I said. He turned his head and smiled that big smile of his then continued on.

We sat under our apple tree. I mean my apple tree. Colin looked at me then took out a sheet of paper from his pocket. “I thought up some idea’s.” he said sheepishly. “Sixty seven ideas!?” I exclaimed looking down all the numbers. I ran through the sheet commenting on a few things. “Run into walls and apologize to them?” I said rolling my eyes. He laughed. I gasped. This was the first time I’ve heard him laugh. He immediately stopped and looked at me. “What?” he asked urgently. “Oh! Nothing never mind.” I said. “Colin?” I asked. He looked at me oddly. “Don’t call me Colin. Call me Lawleit.” He said quietly. “Lawliet?” I said quizzically. He looked at me, a small smile on his face. “It was my mother named me when I was born. My father didn’t like it and called me Colin until he…” Lawliet trailed on in a thoughtful gaze. I thought about it then gasped again. “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to pry! How are you and your mother doing?” I said, shocked and embarrassed. “She to died. Along with my father. It was a fire and I was at a friends house down the street. I was only six at the time. But to this day I still remember hearing that odd screaming at night. I was never quite sure what it was until my friend’s mother woke me up crying.” Lawliet added, seemingly comfortable with the whole topic. I stared. I wasn’t able to speak. The whole subject of death frightened me. “Wh-where do you live now?” I asked, stammering. “A man named Watanuki. He’s very kind to me.” Lawliet said. He looked at me. “Are you okay?” he asked, in an almost soothing voice. “Yes. Death just frightens me a little bit.” I said. I laid down on to the sweet smelling grass. I heard the rustle of the leaves of the apple tree above me. “I love this place.” I said. “Me too.” Lawliet replied. Turned and smiled at him. He smiled back.

This is a story I'm currently making. Well here it is:
Chapter 1
“Who’s the new guy?” My girlfriend Melissa asks. I look over and the person that everyone seems to want to know. He has raven black shoulder-length hair and wearing black paints and a long-sleeved black shirt. I scoff. This is the person everyone wants to know. “Just looks like some emo guy.” I reply then go back to eating my lunch. “No seriously he looks…mysterious.” My other girlfriend, Kayla, chirps in. “Come on he’s not that special.” I say. I take a closer look at him. “He has such a pale face and those rings under his eyes are so black.” I wonder. “Whatever. We’ll find out when we’re in class.” Melissa says. We finish our food then head outside. We go to the apple tree were we usually sit. I stop in my tracks. There is the new boy. Sitting under our apple tree. “Why is he there?” I ask, a little hysteria creeping into my voice. The girls shrug then head over. How can they take this so carelessly? We’ve been sitting under that apple tree since junior high!!! I hesitate then quickly catch up with them. “Hi.” I greet him when the other girls unable to. He looks up at me wearily. “Um…me and my friends usually sit here so if you could just move…?” I ask. He sighs then slowly gets up. I notice something. He’s not wearing shoes. And then just before he leaves he adds “My names Colin.” Then walks away. “Did you see that? He wasn’t wearing shoes!” Kayla says. “Just like I said some weird emo dude.” I brush him off then we talk about what dresses we’re getting for prom. “No biggie.” I think. “Just some weird kid.”
Chapter 3
I went to school the next day. I came with only a few bruises on my back. I wanted to thank Colin for helping me. The suns rays rested on my shoulders and I took in the lovely day. Melissa and Kayla swarmed me when I entered the school. “Are you okay!? Oh my god!!! I’m so sorry!!!” They cried. “Girls it’s alright! I only have a few bruises see?” I said showing them the bruises. They stared. “So who saved you?” They asked. I paused. “Colin.” They gaped at me. “The new guy Colin?” They said. “Yeah.” I answered, wondering if that was a bad thing. “Oh my gosh!!! How did he know you were there? Didn’t the jocks like trample him or something?” They said. “I don’t know I couldn’t see.” I answered. “So if you’ll excuse me for one minute.” I pushed through them. I searched all over the school then went outside. There he was under our apple tree. He looked up as I approached him. “Colin.” I began. He put up his hand. “It’s alright. I did what had to be done.” He answered quietly. “No Colin. No one would have saved me because the jocks would have killed them. You of all people did though. How did you know I was there? And how come the jocks didn’t destroy you?” I asked. He put his head down. Minutes went by. “Okay then, don’t answer me. I just came to say thank you.” I said. Then walked off to a picnic table. The rest of the day I noticed Colin sneaking a few peeks at me. He was in my English, math and science class. I, for some reason, thought he was going to do something. Tell the jocks to forgive him and beat me up again, or do it himself. But nothing ever happened that day. I went along as usual and ignored the hated glares of the jocks, along with the curious ones when people saw my bruises. One girl even went up to me and asked, “Did your boyfriend beat you up?” I sighed and answered, “No I don’t have one, the jocks did.” She looked at me like I was hiding something then carried on. I tried thinking of ways to talk to Colin again but always came up with a blank. Melissa and Kayla started teasing. “Oh! There’s your black knight Hannah!” They would say or “ When are you going to get the makeup from Dead and Depressed?” “Shut it you guys.” I would always answer. Days passed and a bad flu started going around. I came to school prepared for Melissa and Kayla to start swarming me any second. They didn’t. I opened my eyes. My cell started ringing so I picked it up. Melissa. “Talk to me.” I said opening the phone. “Sorry Hannah. I can’t make it to school today. I caught that flu that’s going around.” She said. I heard her blow her nose. “No prob I’ll just hang out with Kayla.” I said calmly. “Okay bye!” Was her reply then shut off the phone. My phone went off again. Kayla. “Let me guess you have the flu.” I said. “How’d you know!?” Kayla exclaimed. “Lucky guess.” I said. “See ya.” She hung up. Now who was I going to hang with?
