Chapter 1

Chapter 1: The Blind Ninja

>>>*Narumi’s POV*>>>

Stepping into the office, I heard the door click shut behind me softly as the young woman left. I turned my attention back to the woman in front of me: the Hokage. I could sense how powerful she was, not someone I would want to anger.

“Please, sit,” she told me politely.

Nodding, I made my way to the chair. Stationary objects are hard to distinguish where they are at, so I stumbled into it as I sat down opposite her.

Her chair squeaked as she leaned forward, and the rustle of papers filled my ears as she placed her elbows on top of her cluttered desk. “Tell me why I should even consider allowing you into this village?” she told me.

I took a deep breath, “I am Narumi Takashi. I know being a ninja is in my blood, and I feel I deserve the chance to try. My parents would not allow me to become a ninja of the village back home, so I traveling many miles here so that I can become a great ninja. Someday, I hope to return and take my place as the Princess of the village. But, until I can prove that I can defend it, I don’t deserve to be there. Please don’t send me away. I will work harder than any other ninja here!” I told her defiantly. I was not going to leave here unless they drug me away.

The hokage didn’t say anything for a moment. The chair squeaked again as she leaned back, “The teams have already been picked, but I suppose I can place you with Kakashi’s team. It would be the best fit for you.”

I jumped up, “Thank you so much! You won’t regret it!”

“Shizune!” the Hokage called. The door opened and Shinzune’s footsteps could be heard walking up beside me. “Please escort Narumi to the training grounds. Kakashi and his team should be there. Give them this. It will explain everything.”

Shizune stepped forward and excepted the parchment. Then, she took my arm and escorted me out of the building. I couldn’t believe I had made it this far. Me. The little blind girl no one thought would make it anywhere. Well, I have news for you all. I am not some weakling. Hours of training behind the palace secretly had assured me of that.

>>>*Matsu‘s POV*>>>

“Read these over carefully, Matsu. This is your new assignment,” my lord handed me a folder which help the report. I opened it and skimmed over it. “You are to get into the village, get onto a team- it matters not which one- and befriend that girl. We need information from her. Information she is going to provide whether she wants to or not.”

“What’s so special about her?” I asked as I studied her picture. Sure, she was pretty, and a princess of the Village Hidden in the Ocean, but nothing out of the ordinary.

“She is the daughter of the king and queen of the Ocean Village. Both of which used to work under me, but they ran away and took shelter there. I cannot enter the village unless I have been welcomed in by a member of the royal family as they have placed a barrier around it to keep me out,” he replied.

“Why waste your time over them?” I asked, my brows furrowed. I didn’t follow his logic.

“They betrayed me, and they will pay dearly. I will destroy their village and destroy the amulet held there. The amulet holds secrets to ancient jutsus that would make me invincible. I want nothing less than that amulet and to destroy that village. The daughter is key. Her parents banned her from being a ninja so that she would not run into me on missions, but she has traveled out of the safety of the barrier and is now in the leaf village. You must win her over and make her see that I am on her side,” my lord told me as he got up and came to my side.

I bowed, “Yes, master,” I nodded.

“That’s a good lad. Now, run along. I want this underway now. I can’t wait to see them squirm!” he laughed evilly. I gave a small smile as I headed out towards the village. I would not let my master down.
