*Flashback*

The Uchiha compound was quiet and the moon cast a luminous glow over it. Deep in the forest, stood two Uchihas, one with a mask and the other a dark look bent on creating an agreenment with the masked man.

"I will help you Itachi-san..but of course there is something I would like in return," said the masked man, his voice deep and dark.

"What is it that you want?" asked Itachi, his face expressionless.

Though the mask hid his face, Madara's lips formed a smirk and he continued. "There are three children I need you to search for. When you find them, they must stay together at all times."

Itachi was utterly confused but did not show it. "And how will I know who these children are...or where to search for them?" he asked.

Madara was silent for a short moment before answering. "One will have the sharingan.." he said and looked to see Itachi's expression which was still blank, "..but he or she will not be an Uchiha. He or she will not have the Uchiha blood and so for will be claimed as an Uchiha only for the eyes. All three will bare different elements. Fire..Water...and Wind."

Itachi stayed silent. 'What could Madara be planning....?' he thought. Turning to Madara, he opened his mouth to say something in return.

"What is their importance?" he then asked.

Madara answered as simply as he saw fit. "All will be answered in time my pupil."

With that, the masked man disappeared, leaving Itachi to sink in his own thoughts and eventually return to the compound to sleep off the many unanswered questions swimming around in his mind.
*End of FlashBack*

The sun rose a few hours later and Itachi was up early as usual even though he had not gotten a full night's sleep. It was rare that he ever got enough rest and so it became a routine to wake up early disregarding his fatigue. Unfortunately their was another Uchiha, young and enthusiastic who was also up early with hopes of getting to spend some time with his brother. Sasuke, the younger brother of Itachi ran out of his room and across the kitchen where his mother was preparing breakfast, and outside onto the deck where his brother was sitting in front of the pond. "Nii-san!" he shouted happily. Itachi looked up from the pond and over to his peppy little brother. He gave a soft smile before turning his gaze back out onto the pond.

"Good morning, otouto." he greeted. Sasuke sat right next to Itachi and stared out onto the pond he tapped his fingers against the wooden boards as if trying to get something off his chest. He took in a deep breath and exhaled. Itachi could tell that his little brother was anxious about something. He figured that Sasuke wanted to tell him something and was simply nervous.

"Is there something wrong, Sasuke?" he asked to help Sasuke continue.

Sasuke turned his gaze to Itachi almost immediatly and felt his cheeks blush lightly in embarrassement. "N-no..nii-san..I was just wondering..if we could go to the lake today..just the two of us." he let out.

Itachi knew he was busy today and that his father would not appreciate his absence in missions and meetings. Still, Itachi agreed, nodding and standing up. "Alright, Sasuke. Get changed and we'll go." he replied.

Sasuke's face lit up in excitement as he dashed past his mother, who looked surprised but simply giggled, and to his room to change. Itachi stood outside on the deck waiting for his brother who returned quickly. Mikoto walked out onto the deck with a small basket filled with rice cakes and fresh fruit inside. "I heard you two were going to the lake. I thought you'd be hungry so I packed you two some lunch." she said kindly and handed the small basket to Itachi who took it. "Arigato okaa-san." he said and started off to the lake with Sasuke happily trailing beside him. The lake was in sight and Sasuke ran towards it, throwing off his shirt and sandels in the process. Itachi kept his pace consistent as he picked up Sasuke's shirt and sandals and placed them on a flat rock on the side of the lake. Sasuke jumped into the water splashing Itachi in the process. When he realized he splashed his brother, Sasuke stood with a worried look. "I'm sorry nii-san!" he said appologetically but Itachi simply smiled and shook off some of the water. Sasuke laughed and playfully splashed Itachi again this time purposefully.

"Whoops~" he said seemingly innocently. Itachi furrowed his brows and smirked. He wasn't in the mood to go swimming and instead performed the shadow clone jutsu, sending a clone to jump into the water and join a splash battle with his brother.

"Hey that's cheating!" Sasuke whined as he tried but failed at winning against his brother in splashing.

Itachi simply took a bite out of a fresh apple from the basket his mother prepared for them. As he gazed up at the sky, he noticed the oddest thing. A beam of lightning struck the sky. But how was this possible. It was sunny and the sky was a clear blue. What was even stranger was the color of it. The streak was blood red. Itachi's eyes furrowed. 'What could be the cause of that..' he pondered and as quickly as he thought of it, he stood. Sasuke noticed Itachi's sudden reaction and couldn't help but worry.

"Nii-san? What's the matter?" he asked as he swam to land and got out of the water. Itachi was silent and his gaze didn't falter from where is was. Sasuke was quite intrigued by this but also frightened. The young Uchiha turned to where Itachi was looking and could see a sudden beam of lightning; the same as what Itachi saw. Sasuke was curious of the sudden and unexplainable lightning. There was no way to explain why it was happening.

"Sasuke, wait here," said Itachi as he dropped the apple and ran towards where the lightning struck. Sasuke pouted at this. He wanted to accompany his brother in hopes of discovering what it was that caused him so much curiousity. He stayed put, for now at least. Itachi racked up a few questions in his mind. Number 1: Was it really lightning he saw? Number 2: Could it have been some sort of attack. He was unsure but was leaning more towards number one than two. A battle was not something he wanted to add to his agenda for today.
