The sound of the train passing through several different places and some soft sounds from the animals at night were the few sounds that Erebi and Dimitri listened to. Dimitri was sitting in one of the handrails of the train; he was looking to the sky, there wasn’t any moon that night and it was pretty dark, something he enjoyed in a big scale, he felt he was the owner of that environment and the fact of being “alone” made him happy sometimes.
“What am I supposed to do after everything happens? I mean, do I have to continue my life normally without taking into account that we can be in danger for transforming so many in few years?; after all I’m one of the new here…I’m starting to get anxious”
Dimitri was really worried, he wasn’t the only vampire of the entire world and he knew that; he also knew that transforming more than one people in few years would bring him many problems but he couldn’t do anything because everything was done. When he felt strong emotions he could go out of control and that was the reason for Erebi to try and calm him down before a chaos began.
“You know you were going to be in trouble because of this, anyway you continue with it because you are selfish sometimes. I don’t blame you because you want company but, are you sure you want to face the consequences? If you are saying all those things you probably have a plan or else we are all going to die and you know what I mean by that” Erebi could act serious when he wanted and he was very honest at people at that type of times.
“For now, I’ll watch things, how everything arrives to a conclusion and after that, I would think of a plan. You are right, Sophia is the only one who developed her two strengths, not in a 100% but she is almost there; the ones that worry me the most are little Liza who just discovered one of hers and now Saga which hasn’t became a vampire!” the last part was loud, Erebi noticed what was happening from the very beginning. A fast whispered conversation began
“Where is he Erebi?”
“Almost here but he already heard you so be careful”
“Don’t tell me that…”
“Its true, he is the man from before”
“And what about Saga? Did he do something to her?! Because if it is that way I’ll kill him…”
“No, for what I can sense she is all right and…you are going to kill him anyway so… I think I’ll watch for Saga until you finish here; make sure you have a lot of fun!” Erebi was returning to her happy self again; something that in battle times was very effective for Dimitri.
Actually, the man that talked to Dimitri was hiding himself, he wasn’t a vampire at all, he was a strange specimen of a dragon and that was the reason for not noticing what he really was before. Our noble was wondering why a thing like that was chasing over him but he didn’t get an answer because the attack over him was beginning; he wasn’t nervous, he knew he was going to win the battle.
The man was jumping and finally caught with Dimitri; he had fangs and was pretty similar to a vampire but he acted strange, he noticed that fact like the first thing so he tried to be prepared for everything; Dimitri’s nails grew longer and sharp, he then jumped and his wings spread into the air. The only thing that anyone could notice were two pairs of glowing eyes and some strange sounds; after some seconds Dimitri finally hurt the man, he though it was weak but the truth was that the man was a clever one and was waiting for that opportunity to sank his fangs on Dimitri; when he accomplished that objective, the vampire grab him by the neck and just pressed his hands softly; the head was smashed and the body was thrown somewhere near the trees.
After the incident, Dimitri hid his wings and was about to return to his place when he saw Saga and Erebi; he was prepared for her reaction to his appearance. He was full of blood over all his outfit, face and hands; however Saga kept on surprising him even more; she had a small towel with her, she got near him and began to clean his face in a soft way.
“No one can see you like this right? Erebi told me some things. I’m not going to ask for whatever happened before because I don’t understand anything yet, anyway you are going to explain this to me later…all right?” Saga said as she cleaned the noble’s face
“Thank you…Sa..ga..what is..ha..happening….” Dimitri was feeling Dizzy, apparently, the fangs of the man were poisoned and he didn’t notice that; now he was falling, he was faint after some minutes; fortunately, Saga caught him and somehow managed to carry him to their seats. Dimitri had a high fever but Erebi told her it was nothing to worry about “just let him rest for the rest of the night” . Saga could not sleep after that, she remained with the vampire and for the first time, she felt unease.
The rest of the week was full of hard work, blood, insane new things and a low percentage of sleep; the good news were that Saga was ready for anything, she was not only prepare on that aspect; her attitude maintained Elizabeth and Sophia in a constant surprise; they were surprised because, after all that had happened to her, she wanted to do it and though that the idea of becoming a vampire was an excellent idea, in other words, she was happy.
That Sunday, just before lunchtime, Dimitri arrived with bad news, however he didn’t expect what happened. Just when the door was opened, a happy Saga jumped and hugged him.
“Well, I think you are acting very strange, tell me what happened?” Dimitri asked in an attempt of getting rid of Saga’s hug because he was hungry.
“I’m just very happy for being part of this family…I should write this on the letter for my grandmother!” Saga’s happy moment was about to end.
“About that subject….” Dimitri’s voice changed to a serious one
“What…are you telling me I won’t be able to write to my grandmother a last time before I change?”
“There won’t be a last time….your grandmother died today; I’m very sorry…” He was prepared for a drama scene but it never happened; Saga was still acting like a normal person, just some seriousness changed her voice when she answered.
“Really?..I think she was sick before; she was very old…too bad I couldn’t say good bye to her…” Sophia and Elizabeth appeared from nowhere and say they were sorry too; she needed to be strong for now.
“We are leaving tomorrow for her funeral, if I’m not wrong, the only family she had was your father and you right?” A nod from saga answered the question; after that Dimitri told Elizabeth to feed Saga while Sophia fed him upstairs; the rest of the afternoon was depressing; everyone went to their own room and kept thinking about many things. Saga thought about the terrible notice she received some hours ago and took as an objective to be strong and not to cry in front of others, she hated that feeling of fake people trying to comfort her while she preferred to be alone; anyway she didn’t know normal persons needed to be comforted by important friends sometimes. Sophia was thinking about all the deaths she appreciated since she was a vampire; deaths that she hide with herself, she was weak but what hurt her the most was seeing her dear noble being sad because she could not control herself, as a result she tried to ignore the activities of the vampire. On the other side of the mansion was Elizabeth, she was thinking about how horrible humans could be and she tried to find an answer to help Saga but she was very cold with those aspects, probably she would make things worst if she talked. Dimitri was looking through the window he loved, it was melancholic but sometimes he did like that feeling; he was trying to figure out what was he going to do the next morning; his personality was a serious one and in few words, he didn’t have the correct methods to comfort people. Anyways he distracted himself from that subject with the fresh blood that Sophia gave him; the noble (although he liked to call himself like that, the time passed very quickly and circumstances were not the same, society was beginning to modernize itself).
---------------------//----------------
They left early; without saying any word to each other, they arrived to the train station and got their passages; when they arrived to their sits they noticed a man was there too; that could represent a problem for them because they wouldn’t be able to talk about the training or any aspect related to it.
“Good morning” The man said, he was young and seemed to be the type who will travel around the world searching for adventures.
“Good morning” Dimitri said, he knew Saga was going to keep in silence
They sat down and the train began to move, there wasn’t a lot of conversation on the morning, just fake smiles when their eyes crossed; mainly, they watched nature. However after lunch when they were sitting Erebi talked.
“Hey Dimitri, it seems that Saga is tired, look at her face and not only that, she is beginning to fall asleep…” He said in a whisper.
“mm Saga are you tired? You should sleep sometime, make yourself comfortable, I don’t care and I’ll wake you up for dinner..” Dimitri said trying to act as normal as he could.
“I’m not tired! What make you think that?” She then yawned; in fact she was really tired but sometimes she was very proud to admit it; anyway at that time she didn’t reject the idea.
“Well if you insist then…I think I will rest for some hours; last night I could not sleep a single minute…” Saga lie down on Dimitri’s shoulder an after some minutes she felt asleep and for a strange reason the man began to talk.
“So, is she your girlfriend?” the man asked; Dimitri felt it was an awkward situation but he didn’t have anything to do so he answered the questions hiding every possible strange fact
“No, she is not my girlfriend, she is my sister..”
“Sister??!! What was that Dimitri…poor answer” Erebi answered
“Hmmm I see, you don’t look alike and why are you travelling?” the man asked again. Dimitri tried to be as respectful as he could but in the deep he wanted to shut the man.
“She looks like our mother and I look like our father…The reason for traveling is that our grandmother recently died, we are going to her funeral”
The hours passed very slowly and Dimitri wanted to kill himself along with the man so he was very happy when he left to eat something; he preferred to stay there because Saga needed more hours of heavy sleep. When the man returned, Dimitri thought he would keep on asking questions; however he kept in silence and the last thing he said was “Good night”; lights began to turn off and all the train was in silence, just the perfect moment for Dimitri to walk for some time with Erebi; he never admit it but he relaxed himself and entertain too when he talked to Erebi. He quickly placed his coat over Saga and began to walk through the corridors until he finally was out.
“What the hell is happening??!!” Saga screamed as the two figures got near her; a light appeared and she could appreciate the other maids; they looks pale in comparison to the afternoon, their eyes were yellow just like Dimitri’s and for a strange reason they all looked ten times beautiful than before. The appreciation time was over very quick due to a new conversation.
“We are very sorry Saga, but you need to know in what thing you’ve entered; maybe you wouldn’t believe us, if that is the case, we’ll prove everything to you. We are vampires” Sophia said in a calmed voice; after looking at the reaction of Saga which was very good for what they expected (fainting, running, killing herself…), she continued. “Dimitri is a vampire too, he was the responsible of our transformation and he is going to be responsible of..yours…Don’t worry you don’t need to be afraid, it doesn’t hurt at all; you’ll be suffering a great pain the first days but then..” she was interrupted by Saga.
“What if I don’t want to become a vampire?” She asked with a serious face.
“Well, as you know, the other candidates died; if you ask me, they were a great food for us. In other words you have two options; the first one is, becoming a vampire like us; the second one is dying by our hands” Elizabeth answered very quickly.
Saga remained in silence, thinking about her answer; ¿ a vampire? Was it really good to sacrifice everything to become a monster? But if she thought about it, she would see the kind people that have been taking care of her the last weeks; they were not monsters, they acted very normally, nevertheless, she only knew a little of information, information that referred to human live, a fake one.
Many things were going through her mind, however at the end she thought about it very well. If she refused, she would die and her grandmother would be broken in little pieces but she transformed into a vampire, they probably send a letter to her grandmother telling her she was dead. The result was the same and she preferred to live instead of wasting her life trying to run away from it.
“Well, if I’m going to do this, please tell me, how does it feel? Do you have any forbidden powers?…How do you get your food, if I can call it like that…” Saga said, she returned to her normal self and that calmed the other two vampires to the point of answering her questions in a calmed way. Elizabeth began
“I’m glad of your decision. Well how does it feel right? I think you could say you feel stronger, like you have the power over any situation, but there are times when you need to be strong with your thirst or you will end killing someone who is special to you.
For the fun part, yes we got new powers; they somehow, are related with the way we “died” ; for example, the voice of Sophia calms Dimitri but if she screams, it would hurt a lot, it doesn’t matter if you are a vampire or not; this power refers to the moment before she drowned when she wanted to cry out for help but she couldn’t . On my side, well when I was little, I felt from a cliff near here; the only hope I had was this strange branch that looked like a whip, when I was about to grab it, villager began to thrown me sharp rocks and then I felt” Elizabeth said; then she took out her weapon. On the other side, Saga was amazed with everything she was listening, deep in her mind she wanted to see both girls in action, she wandered if they had to fight someone in the past, in fact she was asking herself many questions; she came to a conclusion; if she was going to live forever, time will be enough for answering all her questions. She kept listening to Sophia
“Liza is right, however we have other powers that do not have any explanation. Liza has not discover hers yet but mine is my blood; it seems to satisfy everyone’s thirst and the good thing is that there aren’t any disadvantages for me so I’m happy with it” Saga wanted to know more but the things that she wanted to know the most were the powers of the noble, he seemed strong as a human; if he was a vampire, he was a powerful one, she couldn’t resist.
“And…what about Dimitri’s powers? Is he strong?” Silence remained fro some minutes until Sophia giggled “Well, that my friend Saga is something you’ll ask him in person because it is a secret…”
The rest of the night was full of questions from the part of Saga. There was a point in which the three of them kept in silence and watched the sun that was rising; at that moment, Saga noticed something; if they were that strong, why did they need another vampire?
“I promise this is my last question for today! Well, if you are this strong, then, why do you need me?” Her innocence was clear, anyway those feeling ended fast with the answer.
“We need you because we can’t control Dimitri’s emotions all the time. When he is angry or depressed he is very dangerous and our strength is not enough to stop him from killing us” Both said; Saga was surprised with the answer but what shocked her were the wounds they were hiding from the last attack.
The sun kept rising.
Two weeks passed since the first day Saga arrived; she was still a little bit confused with the routines and strange things that were normal for everyone except for her but she didn’t complain, in fact, it as all the contrary; she was the kind of person who loved to learn new things; she was happy.
It was Sunday; Saga was cleaning her room and then went downstairs, she didn’t notice the rest were talking about her until she was very near. Dimitri told Elizabeth and Sophia that they needed to train her very well before the transformation, his exact words were
“I’m leaving for a trip today, you know what I mean by that, preparations must be done; anyway, I’ll return next week, that means you have that time to train her; she needs to survive to the transformation…”
Saga was confused and nervous, she asked herself what that “transformation” was; everyone was serious but she had to ask.
“Excuse me…I heard about that transformation, what do you mean by that?” She asked.
“you don’t need to worry about anything dear, well, actually if you don’t pass the transformation…” Dimitri said
“You will die like the others” Elizabeth said in a happy voice; her intention was scaring Saga and that was accomplished; but she wasn’t lying at all.
“So..you had more maids and all of them died??!!!” Saga was becoming pale as she said that
“She is right, there have been many; all of them died and that is the reason for us to call for new maids that can handle the work” Sophia said.
The three of them were enjoying the moment and the face that Saga was doing; she was trying to stay calmed but all of them were so serious. In the bottom, everything was real; If Elizabeth and Sophia didn’t prepare her, everything would fail and they liked Saga to much for wasting her life like that.
Dimitri left and Saga was told to take a free day before the training; she needed to rest for that night. When she heard that the only things that came to her mind was writing the letter to her grandmother; she had been living on the mansion for about two weeks and she didn’t write anything to her grandmother; she locked on her room and started to write.
“Before I explain you everything, I apologize myself for not writing before; I’m working very hard and time was not enough for me *a lie obviously, she was lazy to write it*, but today was a free day and this letter had to be written.
Well dear grandmother, were to start? I’m happy right now, when I arrived, everyone received me in a good and nice way, specially the noble; he is a handsome and young man but don’t worry about him, is not like I’m falling in love with him. Anyway he lives in a mansion (a beautiful and enormous one) with two other girls; on of them is called Elizabeth, she is young, I think about 15 years old; the other one is called Sophia, she is older, if I’m not wrong she is the same age as the noble (20 years). Both of them are kind and nice wit me; they are trying to show me about their daily life so I can reach the point of excellence that the noble likes.
Well I’ve learned many new things but there is something that keeps me wondering; today I heard them talking about a special training that I need before the “transformation”; I asked about it but they just scared me. I’m supposed to be resting for this night because the noble is gone and they are going to begin the training; my nerves are taking the control but it all points to something that is going to help me…I trust them so I’ll calm myself.
It is time for me to leave; there is nothing else that seems important to me, except of my room!! If you could see it grandmother!, it is beautiful and it sure is big; the bed is comfortable and I can appreciate nature, you know I love to do that and I’m pretty satisfied with it. I think I would not be able to write that much, so don’t expect me to answer your letters very soon; I know you are worried.
Yours, Saga”
Saga planned to send the letter very soon, what she didn’t know was that her grandmother was dying as she wrote the letter. She was called at 11:00 pm, she went to the garden and wait until the other two appeared; she wasn’t expecting what came in.
She felt someone behind her and dodged the attack;; It was a whip just as the one from Elizabeth; she was confused, nothing had any sense at all; everything began to be more strange, she saw two pairs of yellow eyes that looked at her, they were coming near her at a high speed. When they were looking at her the only thing she heard was Sophia’s soft voice saying
“It is time for you to understand everything…”
Then she got shocked with Elizabeth.
“Please, don’t be afraid of us…” She said smiling and showing two bright fangs
The noble was able to sleep for a few hours but he was awake before the sun appeared; one of the things he like the most was watching nature; however those tiny things brought to his head some memories that he wished to disappeared forever, he was very innocent in that aspect; those memories would remain with him for eternity reminding him about what he was, a vampire.
He turned his head and saw a sleep Erebi, he closed his eyes but there wasn’t any sound, which made him feel lonely, if Hades wasn’t there at that moment, he’ll probably take the easy answer that was trying to kill himself, something he applied for years without any good results. Hades sat down on his legs and listen, somehow, to the noble’s memories.
---------------------//----------------------
Dimitri was a happy kid before the accident; he enjoyed everything but he specially enjoyed the company of his parents.
His father was a prestigious man, loved by everyone that lived on the town; he was handsome and seemed to be the perfect father; that was the reason for his son to take him as a model, however he hid a secret, a dark one. His wife helped to do that, their objective was to hide everything from his son, they wanted him to be a normal kid; unfortunately, when he began to grow, questions began to appear.
In the first moment, lies were the answer for the problem, their son was innocent and they could live with that for some years, at least before he completed his transformation.
At the age of 10, Dimitri began to notice different things; the first one was that animals began to fear him, he would run chasing little birds to play with but they ran away from him, after that he would cry but her mother was there to remove his tears.
The second thing he noticed was that villagers began to hate his family for a strange reasons; he thought that they blamed them because of the number of deaths or accidents that occurred at that time, poor child, he didn’t noticed everything was his parent’s fault.
Time passed and Dimitri was 12. One night he came to his parents bedroom, he was scared.
“Mother, father, today a kid on the town said she saw a vampire; she said those were terrible monsters that killed people, I told her she was strange, those things don’t exist right?” Both of them looked at each other with a sad feeling on their eyes; they were sorry for their son, the thing he was going to be very soon.
“That was an excellent answer, you are right, those things…are unreal dear son” His father said; her mother told him it was time to sleep so she carried him away; however they didn’t noticed he was hearing everything they said some minutes after.
“How are we going to handle this situation?”
“We should be able to tell him soon, tell him about what he is”
“You are right, this situation has many advantages In comparison to normal people”
“He is not going to be afraid, don’t worry”
“Thanks…Wait! Did you hear that? They are coming for us. Quickly! Grab Dimitri and hide him”
Villagers were going for them, they discovered their real forms and were afraid; the priest told them how to kill them, they were about to do it. In the mansion, everything was a chaos; their parents were ready to fight for their son’s sake; they told one of the maids to protect Dimitri with her life, anyway before the accident, they said goodbye.
“Don’t worry son, everything is going to be fine…Don’t cry” His mother said while she hugged him tightly
“Don’t hate us, become a strong man who will defend what he thinks” His father said; he gave him a necklace with a strange cross on it.
After that, Dimitri was knocked out; when he wake up, he saw everyone was dead but there was a problem, he could not concentrate on that; he was suffering a sort of transformation and he was full of pain. Hours full of nasty feelings passed and Dimitri felt he was a different person; he had become a vampire, at that time he understood everything but the thirst for blood made him suck some blood form the corpses that were around, including his parents.
---------//------------
For years, he hated them because of what he became but when he began to think about it, he discovered he was better than a simple human and understood he had the control over any situation. In fact there weren’t any problems at all, except for his existence. There was an answer for that, it was an interesting decision; He wanted to live there but he was sure that the old villagers would recognize him; he opted for killing them, after all they were old and he was hungry…
----------//----------
“No one noticed that…humans are idiots…” Dimitri said with a sad smile on his face
“Maybe you are very intelligent for them heheheh” Erebi said, he had woken up but he made the noble stand up from the chair were he was lying, Hades growled and then left the room.
“You little bastard!” Dimitri said as he grabbed Erebi and jumped into the bed. Erebi was scared, Dimitri never behaved that way before.
“Are you feeling a hundred percent right?” Erebi asked.
“I’m fine, I discovered I need to be happy, but showing it like this won’t work right?” He looked at Erebi and some seconds later they were laughing. Someone else jumped to the bed, it was Elizabeth.
“Seems you are in a good mood today…if it is like that, would you brush my hair?” She asked in a cute way that Dimitri couldn’t resist.
