UNTITLED

I am continually amazed with the near-exponential growth (I don't think I'm exaggerating here) of the number of views on my blog.

So... I'm going to put a view count at the bottom of the world introduction.

For those of you that want to prove me wrong in my claim of the growth almost being exponential, grab a calculator. I'm gonna do a little math.

Now, these numbers aren't exact (except for the last three), but they're close to what I remember.

View counts from each time I checked my Backroom:
1. 2
2. 10
3. 20
4. 43 (not kidding, at one point it really was 43)
5. 75
6. 102
7. 135
8. 170
9. 260
10. 372
11. 472
12. 692

Since I'm in Algebra 2, I literally just had a lesson on exponential growth. The basic equation for exponential growth is 2^X (read as "two raised to the X power") when X is not a negative number. (It could be, but then it'd be a fraction to the X power. Not the same.)

So, if you plug in the number of times that I checked my Backroom (roughly), it'd look like this:

X...|Equation.|Result...|View Count
1...|2^1......|2........|2
2...|2^2......|4........|10
3...|2^3......|8........|20
4...|2^4......|16.......|43
5...|2^5......|32.......|75
6...|2^6......|64.......|102
7...|2^7......|128......|135
8...|2^8......|256......|170
9...|2^9......|512......|260
10..|2^10.....|1024.....|372
11..|2^11.....|2048.....|472
12..|2^12.....|4096.....|692

(I'm positive those numbers are correct. I used a calculator.)

Now, those numbers fit with the exponential equation up to about the seventh time I checked my Backroom. I couldn't expect the view count to double each time, but it certainly grew at an alarming rate.

Those of you that are saying, "Then why didn't you just calculate a line of best fit to see what equation best represents this data," I did. *shot* Put THAT in your calculator!

Line of best fit equation (Exponential Regression):
6.6^X (I had to do some rounding here.)

I think the Exponential Regression equation's correct. (You calculate it just like linear regression on a TI-83, right? By hitting "STAT", then O for Exp Reg?) Again, I just had a lesson on it (as in, today) and haven't had much practice with it. So I'm not sure if I found the Exp Reg correctly. If it's not, then oh well. What're you guys gonna do? Sue me? I doubt that'd happen. I'm too nice. *shot again*

I just felt like crunching a few numbers. Thanks for humoring me and reading this.

Ciao
