Okay the first song is one I sang about more than two years back, during practice... I set a difficult pitch to sing (I dont know what to call it in western terms)... "sruthi"... It is a song to Kamakshi devi, the female aspect of god, who is the mother of all.... the song is a composition of Muthuswamy Dikshitar, from the early 19th century, with Roopaka Talam, and Simhendra Madhyamam Ragam...
The meaning goes like this (which can be found in this youtube video :
1. Kamakshi, you who dwell in Kamakshi Peetha, protect me.
2. Youthful, petal faced one, adorned in gold, Bestower of all prosperity, mother of guruguha.
3. Sister of Vishnu, lotus eyed Narayani, Embodiment of music, art and love, Katyayani, Paragon of Virtues...
