Deception

Atomic. That word used to sound so... clean. But now, I understand; now, the world understands, and it's too late.

I had always wanted to be special, different from everyone else. When I was in Jr. High, I dressed in bright clothing and wore my hair in crazy styles. I was trying to stand out. Of course, I did stand out, but not in a good way. I was teased for my unique styles; I had no friends. No one wanted to be around a freak.

Freak. It doesn't mean what it did in those days. Then, being a freak was a social death sentence. Today, it's a blessing. After all, the normal kids are dead.
