I was dreaming. I had to be. There could have been no other explanation for what was happening.
I was standing on a beach. White sand, clear water, and kids running up and
down the shoreline stuffing crabs down each others’ pants. Seems normal, right?
Wrong. There was one teensy little problem with this beach.
Every single persons face was blurred out.
Well, this was a dream, right? Weird things always happen in dreams.
My brown eyes scanned the beach and found a trio of kids who looked about my age(But heck, with not being able to see their faces, who knows?) standing on an islet connected to the beach by a poorly constructed bridge and a wooden shack.
I sighed as I mechanically began to walk towards the group, and although minutes seemed to pass, it didn't look like the islet was getting any closer. Actually, it looked like it was getting farther away from me.
I grumbled as my legs moved faster, but still no progress was being made.
Eventually, I became exhausted and slumped down onto the warm sand to catch my breath. I scooped up a handful of sand and watched it sift smoothly through my fingers.
But then something strange happened.
As the final grains of sand fell through my fingers, they seemed to turn black and evaporate before even touching the ground. I looked down at the sand I was sitting on. It was turning black and slowly being sucked towards a hole in the ground that had appeared behind me.
Instinctively, I stood up and ran as fast as I could towards the wooden shack on the opposite side of the beach. Thankfully, this time I actually moved.
Once I reached the shack, I looked back over my shoulder-- a stupid move on my part--to find that the whole beach was being sucked towards the menacing hole in the ground. I kicked the shack door hard, which made it swing open with a loud creak. My eyes located a staircase and my body automatically ran up the stairs and out onto the bridge.
Straight ahead was the trio from before. They seemed oblivious to the large hole that had now engulfed most of the beach. I looked up frantically towards the three as wisps of darkness lapped at my feet and began pulling me towards the hole as it brought me to my knees.
I opened my mouth to scream, but no sound escaped from my desparate lips. My eyes were wide with terror as they stayed locked onto the teens. As I was pulled farther away from them and closer to the center of the hole, their faces seemed to blink in and out of existance. Blurry one second, visible the next. I quickly tried to etch their faces into my mind as the darkness began to cover me. I tried to scream again, but like before, no sound.
But as soon as the darkness completely submerged my body, an ear-piercing shriek filled the air. My shriek.
And then I began to fall into oblivion.
I got like, REALLY REALLY REALLY bored yesterday and did this. 8D
And i figured i'd show y'all what happens when i get bored. xP
