Chapter Fourty-Eight: A Bouquet of Roses

~*Miyuki*~

As we walked off towards my parents, Kuori behind me, I got nervous. Not that they would be mad, I was more afraid at what kind of scene my mother would cause. For happiness, and excitement. Before I even said anything, my mom was suffocating me with a tight hug. “Oh wow! That was fantastic! All those hours of practicing paid off! I’m so proud of you!” She leaned in and whispered. “And that kiss during the bow, how steamy…if I didn’t know any better, I would think he likes you, and that you like him! Oh but don’t think I’m prying into your love life, although he is a very nice boy who is lovely to look at, I’m just saying sweetie like I have a million times befo-” I cut her off.

“Breathe…must breathe…” She quickly let go and I coughed.

“I’m sorry.” She apologized.

“Mom, dad.” I said to both of them and walked back over to Kuori.

“Yes dear?” My dad asked. I slid my hand into Kuori’s.

“Kuori and I, are dating.” I said after taking a deep breath. It was silent for a few moments.

“R-Really?” My mom squeaked out.

“Yes.” Kuori turned my head and lightly kissed me. I looked over at mom, and she was crying.

“Oh mother, stop it please…you’re embarrassing me…” I frowned.

“I’m…s-so happy!” She clapped. My dad sighed and patted her and she stopped crying. He walked over to Kuori and stuck his hand out. Kuori blinked but shook it.

“I approve Mi.” He looked at me and smiled.

“Thanks daddy!” I hugged him. He smiled and looked down at me. “You will always be my baby girl.” He said. I nodded and looked over at mom.

“Are you done hyperventilating yet?” I asked.

“I am.” She laughed. “This is so nice, and I’m sorry Mi, but I told you so!” She stuck her tongue out at me.

“Mom…”I blushed and Kuori laughed.

“What? It’s about time!” She exclaimed.

“Actually…yeah, it is.” Kuori smiled. I grinned at him.

“Let’s go home?” I asked.

“Oh wait a second.” Kuori said and he took off towards his locker. I looked at mom and dad.

“Can he-”

“Yes of course he can come over.” My dad answered.

“But NO staring or spying on us…mom.” I looked at her.

“I would never…” She said as she lowered her camera into her bag, attempting to be inconspicuous about it. I sighed but then felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned and Kuori was standing there, with a bouquet of roses. I put my hand over my mouth and he took my other hand and put the roses in, and closed my hand with his.

“For my Juliet.” He smiled. I heard my mom squeal and I turned around angrily.

“MOM!”

“IT’S SO CUTE!” She continued. Kuori pulled my body back around and laughed. I blushed wildly.

“Thank you Romeo.” I kissed his cheek.

“Alright let’s go before your mom here had a heart attack.” My dad laughed. We went out and I told them that Kuori and I would walk home. They got into their car and drove away.

“I’m really sorry about mom.” I apologized.

“Don’t worry about it. I’m glad they took it so well. Your dad really surprised me.” He said.

“I know. He likes you.” I smiled.

“It’s a good thing.” He sighed. “Too bad I have this curse.” He sighed.

“Kuori, it’s not your fault. And they don’t know.”

“But I don’t want to lie to them, they are like my parents too!” He ran his hand through his hair.

“You shouldn’t do that.” I stood in front of him and he stopped.

“Why not?” He asked.

“Because it drives me insane.” I blushed. He blinked. “In, a good way.” I looked away a bit.

“Aww. Is that so?” He wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me closer.

“Y-Yes.” I stuttered. He was inches from kissing me, when he pulled back and started walking again. “H-Hey!” I exclaimed.

“Come on hurry up, we’ll be at your house soon.” He waved.

“You frustrate me you little tease…” I grumbled after I caught up. My house was just up the street.

“Yep!” When we got to the front door, he opened it for me and I saw mom and dad cuddling on the couch. I smiled and they waved. Kuori came in and looked at them.

“Stay as long as you want son.” My dad said as I put the roses in a vase and put it on the table.

“O-Ok.” I pulled him up to my room, to see he was blushing.

“What’s wrong?” I asked. Then it dawned on me. “They cuddle all the time, it’s ok.” I said.

“No, not that…your dad called me son.”

“And?” I asked.

“I don’t know…I guess it just surprises me is all.” He said not looking at me.

“Kuori, it’s not like we’re going to get married anytime soon, it’s just his term of endearment for you.” I explained. “Don’t think so deeply into these things. It doesn’t have to get complicated this fast.”

“But it already is!” He looked out the window. “You should know that already…” He said a bit quieter. I went over and slowly wrapped my arms around him.

“Everything will be ok, no matter what. I promise.” I whispered. He turned in my arms, and to my surprise, he held me back.

“I believe you.” He muttered.

“Kuori?”

“Hmm?”

“I, I love you.” I meant it. With everything I was.

“I love you too.” He answered.

“Really?” I asked looking up.

“Yeah really.” He smiled. I suddenly saw a flash and I jumped. I glared at the doorway, which was cracked a bit.

“Mom!” The door shut fast and I went over and locked it. “That completely ruined my perfect moment…”

“Well I figured it was going to happen.” Kuori said as he laughed a little.

“It’s just… you don’t like having me really close to you, so when I can be that close to you it’s, special to me…” I tried to explain it to him, but I was feeling a little uncomfortable talking to him like this.

“Oh…I’m sorry.”

“Why are you sorry?” I asked a bit surprised.

“I just don’t like having people so close to me.”

“I know.” I nodded.

“I’m sorry I’m like that.”

“Don’t ever be sorry for being who you are.” I said.

“I guess it’s because of my family secret is why I don’t like being so close to people.” I smiled at him.

“And that is why I’m so honored to be as close to you as I am.”

“Come here.” He suddenly said. I blinked and walked over to him. He stood up and brushed his fingers lightly across my cheek. “You’re an amazing girl and I wouldn’t want to go out with anyone else.” His words hit me like a train. I felt my face get hot and I looked at everything but his eyes. ‘He really just said that…’ He lightly kissed me, and went to pull back, but I pulled him back. I felt him smile and he kissed me again. I was so happy. He made me happy. I pulled him down onto my bed, and waited to see what he would do. Instead of pulling back like I thought, he intensified and our little kiss turned into a full blown make out session. I pulled on his shirt. Did I really want it to go any further? I didn’t think I did, but then again, I wasn’t sure of anything at that second. He pulled away from me.

“S-Sorry…I, I…” I stuttered, nervous he didn’t like what I had done. He ran his hands up the back of my shirt, leaned back down and kissed me again. I knew heat was radiating off my face, he really surprised me. I shivered and wrapped my arms around him. He pulled back again. “You’re full of surprises.” I breathed.

“Thank you. I should get home.” He said sitting up. I stood up with him and walked him to the front door.

“Bye Kuori! Please come over soon!” My mom giggled. He smiled at her and I pushed him out the door. I hugged him tightly.

“See you tomorrow.” He said.

“Yeah, see you tomorrow.” I let go. “Sleep well Romeo.”

“Night Juliet.” He turned and walked off towards his house, and I walked back in.

“What, no kiss?” Mom asked. I looked at her, then at the window, and back at her. I burst out laughing and she looked at me confused.

“It’s nothing really mom, good night.” I gave both mom and dad a hug and went back to my room, changed, and crawled into bed. I fell asleep and dreamt of Kuori, all of which were perfect.
