Chapter Twenty-Seven: Run Along the Beach

-Kuori-

After Taisuke and Miyuki left to go to the museum I went to my closet and grabbed my clothes that I usually wore for stealing. I went to the bathroom and quickly got changed. I checked the house one last time to make sure that they didn’t back track. And come in the house. After looking around I decided to head out. I had everything that I needed in my bag so I grabbed the keys to my bike and locked the house. I got on my bike and sped off. I parked my bike where I parked the last time I had to steal something at the museum and I had the same routine that I had last time. But instead of knowing exactly where the gem was I had to find it. Which meant knocking out a few security cameras and avoiding police and security guards and reporters that somehow made their way into the building. There was no sensor under the gem this time. I stuck it in my bag and went out the window that was in the display room. I landed in the tree that was below the window and Miyuki and Taisuke were talking.

‘Well you’re doing a good job at catching me.’ I thought, as they didn’t even notice that I was there.

I smirked and talked to them really quick then vanished with a new spell that I learned earlier that week. I couldn’t go very far with it at the moment. So I only ended up going a couple of trees over. When I looked back to see how they were reacting to me being there and already getting the gem then just disappearing before they could do anything about it because they were in shock. Taisuke was holding Miyuki and it looked like she was trying to calm down or something.

“He’s better for her anyways.” I told myself as I turned away and left. In an ally way I changed back to myself and put on a blue shirt over my under armor then a flannel over that and buttoned it up. I heard the alarms going off a couple of blocks down from the Museum they just seemed to notice that I stole the gem. I threw my bag over my shoulder and walked out of the ally-way and when I started into the park the sirens were still going off. I didn’t even bother and I just went to my bike then went home.

I put my bike away and went into the house I kept the door unlocked for when they got back and I took a shower and changed into a pair of shorts and a tank top. Then put the gem in my night stand draw and plopped down on the couch and started playing Final Fantasy X. Since I had to steal so many things lately I didn’t have time to play. Ten minuets later Miyuki and Taisuke walked into the house. I asked them how it went and Taisuke was the one that said he let Zero get away, which technically it wasn’t a lie he is the policemen here. Miyuki decided that she was going to go home and I offered to walk her home but she said no and left.

“You really are a jerk you know that.” Taisuke commented and I looked over at him.

“How am I a jerk, I offered to walk her home and she said no.” I retorted.

He rolled his eyes “Even if she says no you should walked her home anyways.”

“Why should I care anyways she seems more comfortable around you then she is with me.” I muttered as I kept playing Final Fantasy X.

“What was that?” He asked walking over to me.

“I said that she seems more comfortable around you anyways. I felt bad that I hurt her feelings so I went to the museum and she was hugging you and she seemed comfortable with you so I just turned around and came back home.” I lied but it sounded like the truth because I did see them hugging.

“She was about to cry what did you expect me to do just stand there and look like an idiot and a complete jerk if someone walked by at that point in time?” He asked.

I sighed heavily and saved what process that I made in Final Fantasy X. I got up and turned off the game. “I don’t care any more why don’t you just take my place in school for in the play I’m sure she would rather kiss you then me anyway. “ I stated and walked past him.

I knew that he was going to grab my arm but out of reaction I ended up grabbing his right before he could get me. He stared at me in shock then used it to his advantage and pulled me closer to him. “Do you under stand how much she cares about you?” He questioned.

I scoffed and let go of him then walked away again. He grabbed the back of my shirt and pulled me back again. I figured that he thought when I grabbed his wrist it was just a lucky shot. He started to push me back against the closest wall and I got his hand off of my shirt and turned it around so I had his arm behind his own back and slammed him against the wall. “It wasn’t a lucky shot that I was able to grab your wrist Tai. Try again later when I’m not on edge.” I told him and let go and walked away. I knew that he wasn’t going to come after me this time so I went to my room and slammed my door shut.

I laid down on my bed and waited for him to come in my room but he didn’t. I pulled the gem out of my night stand and looked at it. “I don’t understand what was so special about these cascading heart gems anyways?” I questioned then I heard a knock at my door and I shoved it under my pillow.

My door opened and Tai came into my room. “Look I’m sorry for snapping at you earlier.” He apologized.

“Why are you apologizing I’m the one that should be apologizing. I slammed you up against the wall.” I said.

“It was out of self defense is why you did that.” He told me.

‘Sure lets go with that.’ I thought sitting up.

“Still I didn’t mean to.” I stated. “I’m sorry I just haven’t been feeling like myself lately is all.”

“Why do you say that?” Taisuke asked sitting down on the bed next to me.

“Actually the day before you called and asked to live with us mom told me that my real father was dead. Since she’s said that I’ve kind of had that feeling that I want to know what he was like. Also earlier was not the first time that Miyuki and I have fought.” I told him.

“Well that’s to be expected everyone fights and you wanting to know what your real dad was like. I know that if I met him I wouldn’t remember either.” Tai mentioned, “So I’m also kind of curious as to what he was like.”

“Has your mom told you about him?” I questioned.

He shook his head “I never asked actually, by the way my parents are going to start getting here next week so I’m probably not going to be around that much next week. I’m going to be helping my parents unpack and get settled in.” He answered.

“Will you need any help?” I offered.

“No we should be able to handle it thanks though.” He smiled.

“Alright, Are you still going to live with them or are you going to come back here?”

“I was going to try and find my own apartment when I first got here but my parents thought it would be safer if I stayed with you. They’ve always been over protective with me.” He mentioned.

“Yea I know the feeling.” I answered rubbing my left eye to try and keep me awake.

“I’ll leave you alone so you can get some sleep.” Tai stood up “Night.” He walked out of the room and closed the door behind him.

I laid down and fell put my hand under my pillow. I felt the gem under it and clutched it in my hand. I started muttering the spell to seal it but I ended up falling asleep half way through the spell.

I woke up and looked around my room there was a light glow in the room so I looked at my alarm clock and it was 6 in the morning. “Dang it, I missed Bleach.” I groaned and my head hit the pillow again. “Oh well I’ll just watch it when I get the box set.” I muttered.

Then I remembered that I still hadn’t sealed the gem so I pulled it out from under my pillow but it wasn’t in my hand. “Where did it go?” I asked myself and sat up in bed. I looked all over but I couldn’t find it. “Damn it where did it go?” I grumbled.

I stood up and tore all my blankets off my bed and shook them but I still couldn’t find it so I just put my bed back together and got dressed. No one was up yet so I went for a run around town again. It felt nice to go for a run. Of course it was still a bit strange having Taisuke in the house also Miyuki and him seemed to be getting closer to each other every time that we all hung out together. ‘Maybe I should let her get close to me as Zero…’ I thought ‘She has been down lately of course it probably doesn’t help that I’m not supporting her in trying to catch me as Zero. So I can’t really help her catch myself unless I just come right out and tell her that I’m the one that she’s been trying to catch.’ I shook that thought out of my head and continued running. I ran to the beach thins time and took a break. The breeze off the water felt nice and it was just relaxing in general to be able to get away from everything.

My powers have gotten stronger over the past three years and it’s just gotten more complicated with Miyuki and school and stealing. “I just want to know what a normal life is like for once…even if it’s for a day. Or a couple of hours.” I muttered resting my arms on the railing and looking that the water that had the colors of the morning sky reflecting off of it. “Now that I think of if I’ve never had a normal life even when I was little.” I said to myself.

After a while I decided to run the beach then turned around and started heading back to town and to my house. I quietly shut the door when I got in the house just in case everyone was still sleeping.

“Morning.” I jumped when I head Taisuke’s voice.

“Oh morning I didn’t know if anyone was up.” I stated.

“Where did you go?” He asked.

“I went for a run to the beach and back.” I told him and grabbed a water out of the fridge.

“Ok I was just wondering.” He stated “Hey do you mind if I get Miyuki’s number?”

“No why would I care?” I asked.

“Do you have it?” I tossed him my phone and he went through the contacts until he set down the phone and typed in her number into his phone. “Thanks.” He said and slid my phone back to me.

“Yep not a problem.” I answered and put my phone back in my pocket.
